Citroen Xsara WRC

Here's a quick pic of my latest project, Airfix's Citroen Xsara WRC. The body has had all of the intakes and vents opened and will have mesh from the Studio 27 upgrade kit covering them, also I have decided to not use the decals for the door pillars fading the white through yellow to red but airbrushing the fading instead resulting in a much finer fade.

Did you miss some yellow on the b-pillar or is it suppose to be like that?
Now I wish I have an airbrush. Very nice body work

Man, you're on fire! Keep it up!

And if you get a minute, how about a shot of your display case?

Nice to see you made a start on it. (finally, seeing how you've had yours longer than I've had mine)

I must admit that I was thinking of doing the same on the pillars with my airbrush. The fade on the decals is a bit "toy" and coarse!

Err, did you accidentally knock off those badly moulded wipers, or are there a nice pair of PE ones included in the Studio27 Kit???

Lookin' Good!

Regards
Mark

The pillar that has no yellow on it will, eventually be painted black so no point fading that one.

As soon as the builders have finished building our conservatory and dust flying everywhere I'll take the masking tape that is sealing up the gaps in my display case off and take a few piccies.

Mark, I cut the wipers off because (a) they looked sh**e! and (b) there is a pair on the photo-etch upgrade set thankfully.

Finally finished and here are a couple of piccies of my Citroen Xsara WRC. The kit is the Airfix one with added extras, a photo-etch upgrade kit from Studio 27, Sakatsu metal aerial bases and belt buckles and harness'. The only major problem I had was with the window, it's moulded in one piece and although the front and rear screens fit well the side windows all had rather large gaps around some edges, in the end I just used the front and rear originals and replaced the side windows with clear sheet.

Hope you like it,

Steve

Fantastic job, mine is still in the cuboard waiting to be built. How was the S27 detail set? I very nearly purchased the Renaissance one at a recent show but decided against it as i thought i would be unlikely to work on it soon. Ive noticed the same problem with the windows - f**king Airfix - but u have tackled that problem very well, i will bare it in mind.

Ok. Now I want to start mine

Can't believe how good you made such a FUGLY kit turn out.

Another fine example of your craftsmanship, sir!

(Not tried fitting the windows yet. Are they really *that* bad?)

I'm not going to try opening mine again until I get the PE kit. Those damned wipers are way out of proportion.

Why is the plastic *soooo* thick?

(I bet the fenders on the 1:1 aren't even *THAT* thick!!!)

...I like what you did on the pillars. I'm definately going to do the same with mine. (I had the same idea before I saw yours, but seeing it done made me more confident).

I just can't muster the enthusiasm to continue my Supra at the moment, and I'm gettting a *severe* backlog of kits!!!

Regards
Mark

Good job Steve.
I also have buy this Airfix model and it was really disappointing
to see the poor quality of the model (the wipers are really pathetic)
For sure I will not have the opportunity to find the Studio 27 upgrade kit here in Portugal, but at least I know that is possible (with some extra work) to make this model fit well between the other WRC's from Tamiya.
