again, you're wrong.

if you're running a trans with closer gearing (ie 6 spd), you can keep the motor in the power band, instead of dropping lower in the band, and having to come back up.

the number of shifts is irrelevant.

you're not using all 6 in the 1/4 anyways.

in my car, i was shifting into 4th just after crossing the 1/4 line.

so i only used 3 gears.

and it has everything to do with gearing and not the number of gears.
