OK, this is how it works over here.
They sit a camera in the back of a car (usually a Camry stationwagon) and they put it in places where you can’t see them very well from the road (meanwhile saying that they don’t have hidden cameras!! Yeh right!!
)
The camera takes a photo of your car (with a view of the licence plate and driver?? (I think)!!
It won’t mean that I get any demerit points, just a bloody big fine!!!
