Just got off the phone with a buddy who does sales with aftermarket parts. I'm confirmed with a three inch catless downpipe and new spark plugs, he's gonna try and get me a deal on Samco boost and vacuum hoses, and I may be dropping the Speed3 on springs. If the hoses and springs are a good deal, I'm gonna get some new wheels, too. Yay.

I might be getting on as a Beta tester for a new tuner for the Speed3 market if we can fix up some problems with the car. I'm positive that new boost/vacuum hoses, plugs, and getting into that engine bay and hunting down some loose connections will fix her up just right. Ifn all goes as planned...I should be right around 260 wheel, which considering I don't race I just like to drive fast is perfect for me till I get rid of the car. I'm gonna be running the down pipe open with a three inch turn down, lol. Open turbos FTW.

260whp is pretty fun in a light car. I ran my car most of the summer around 270 whp (judging by other people with the same mods and simiair tunes...no dyno here:() and I had a lot of fun with it. Now it should be around 290 wheel so when it gets warm ill see how fun that is! I love going mod by mod and feeling the gain from it...until I get too used to it

Eclipse got rear ended. I'm just full of bad news. It wasn't too bad but it definitely hit hard.
Cobalts fall apart in accidents. I had a scuff on my paint and the cobalt lost an eye, hood, and front clip.

Well, I may be more. Someone with the same tuner that I may be getting, stock open downpipe and midpipe (2.5in catted) and a CAI put down 252hp 270tq. The catless dp/mp combo on this car are know for 20+ at the wheels, so I actually may be even better. I'd just like to run 18lbs with no cut.
So what happened with the Eclipse? Just a bit of paint trade for you?

yeah paint trade, lame nonsense. stupid women drivers. she put a hole in the bumper too so the whole thing needs replaced i suppose. It also wanders in the rear a bit on the highway now, so i suppose I'll have that checked as well.

I think I may try to ditch the Mazda this weekend. Rumor has it that Pontiac dealers are throwing away cars for 50-60% off in the area...I could rock a G8 GT for 15k...hell, that would be a straight trade.

Just thought I should post up some pics of what I've been up to the past couple of months with the car.
Here's how it looked before I put it up on stands. Hopefully soon I can get some pics of it now that it's lowered.

so my turn, lol.
My new/old car:
1988 RX-7 convertible N/A
Mods:
Racing beats True Dual Exhaust system from the headers down
http://racingbeat.com/FRmazda2.htm
Cold Air Intake system that wasnt correctly installed but it works.
Engine Rebuilt to fix leaking Apex Seals and to do a port on the engine (though I dont know if it was the street port or the straight up racing port.
Performance Springs and Shocks (unfortunately I dont know which ones they are as I would need to remove them in order to see which ones they are)
New Brakes so I dont have to do that.
Now Things I need to do:
Get tools to properly work on the car, lol
Fix the CAI and make a heat shield box for it.
Completely turn off the power steering from the car but not switch to a manual rack as the PS rack has a tighter turn radius.
Clean up the mess the power steering leak has caused.
Get a new radio
get some sort of engine management.
Adjust the throttle cable so the car idles where its supposed to at 750rpms instead of the 1500 its been at.
Get a second car, lol.

It's been a lot of work so far and I would say it's halfway done. I still have the whole interior to do, everything under the hood, the fuel system/underside of the car and some other little odds and ends.
But no, this car will not be babied. It will promtly beaten the shit out of. This car will be used to do what it was meant to do, drive faster than any LeBaron has any business driving.

Normally, I would agree, but finding the right rack for my car is tough. Most of them are crappy racks they put it most of the FWD beaters in 80s. This one is a fast ratio and for some reason is tough to find so I had to take what I could get.
Meh, it has a lifetime warranty.
As for the car, yeah, it's probably over kill but I'm a perfectionist. I'm sure the Stealth will end up getting the same treatment.

Sometimes "lifetime warranty" just means "lifetime replacement". Although I really hope not in this case. And really while the car isn't already done and while it is still clean you should go ahead and get the diff. in there, I know at least with my motivation if I didn't already go and do it, it wouldn't get done... ever...

True.
I'm not too worried about it. If it fails then I can search for something else. There's no way I'm pulling that trans again, at least not in the car. It was a huge PITA. I'm going to be installing the diff when I pull the engine to do all the go fast stuff. I'm actually thinking I want to buy another trans and break it down, powder coat the casing, rebuild it and add the diff and a chrome molly bearing plate. Then I can just swap it for the one that's in there and then I'll have it as a spare.
Trust me, it will get done. I have too much money invested in this car and parts still waiting to go in to give up on it. :iceslolan

Well, I finally got the IPS single shot installed today. It was supposed to be done yesterday but I managed to somehow foul all 6 of my plugs so I spent my time fixing that yesterday. Either way, it is done and sounds really good, even better than I thought. It is quieter than I expected it to be but sounds much smoother and deeper than I thought as well. Your plugs, I had an O2 sensor go bad causing my car to go rich every 3 seconds, my friends LS1 camaro has been flooding bad every time he starts it, and MZR_47's sti just had one of his 740cc injectors fall apart and a piece got lodged right before the valves causing the fuel to hit it and not atomize causing a horrible misfire...we logged 72 misfires on cyl 1 in 19 seconds lol
I'll try and get vids asap.
That is pretty nuts about the injector though. I have NO idea how I fouled all 6 plugs all the sudden. It has been running like a champ since and always did before it happened. Seems like a complete fluke! :runaround:

Downpipe is here...looks beautiful. I'm gonna try and get it all in on Saturday, do my plugs at the same time, and pull the battery and ECU to try and get down to the turbo and see if the inlet is loose or I have a hose kinked up...those are the two best guesses for where my boost went.

Speaking of mods, I would like this front end with the same 99 VR4 combat wing in the rear. :D

Looks Like a hybrid. The upper half looks like it's an EvoX and the lower looks to be the stock bumper.
Very nice, but I can imagine it would be pretty expensive.

Yeah, it hasn't even been put into production right now. You would have to fork over some serious cash to get it though I am sure.

There has been talk about Cianci (one of the 3S body aftermarket body parts producers) that would possibly take it under way but it remains a concept right now for the high price tag that would follow for that front end conversion on a VR-4. Although, I am sure of many people on our 3S forum who could take this project under by themselves with some time and hard work.

After looking at it again, I say loose the wing and I would totally love it. The one thing I've always disliked (and the only thing, really) about the 3S is that the front end just looks so soft. That front end makes it look epic.

Yeah, I do like the front end but they are a bit soft. Most people go with aggressive front lips or evil eye mods, both pretty easy to do. Here are some examples of minor tweaks:
With a dual core FMIC and evil eyes:

FMIC with 99 wide mouth:

A simple bolt-on lip with a 99 VR-4 combat wing:

To be honest, anymore they aren't all that heavy (in fact often times lighter) than new sports cars coming out. I have shed over 100lbs just on my exhaust on my VR-4 through eliminating 3 cats and running a single shot. To lose a few hundred pounds while keeping a full interior and A/C on a VR-4 is a piece of cake. On top of that, new cars are sort of bleh. I like a lot of them but as far as modifying them and tuning them goes it is a lot more of a PITA than good old performance 90's cars. :2cents:

Yeah, the new Challenger weighs 4,300 pounds. The 3S weighs a paltry 3,700 pounds by comparison. Plus, it's pretty easy to get them down to 3,300 pounds. Get lighter wheels (stock ones are about 30 pounds each, bare!), get rid of the ECS and replace with proper coil overs, get rid of the active exhaust and the precats, get some better seats that aren't power, get rid of the rear wiper and motor, get rid of the AA (3000 only), and top it off with a CF hood. I would go with a one that looks just like stock and paint it though.
I thought I would post up another awesome 3S.

A very sexy Stealth! Yeah, like I said, to shed a few hundred pounds on these cars is seriously a piece of cake while keeping a full interior and A/C. Honestly, these cars were built with such heavy duty parts because of their price tag. Even the body panels are quite thick and heavy, which I like as oppose to a car that gets hail damage from sleet (/sarcasm). But really, you can easily shed many hundreds and keep full weight with AWD and weigh less than a Camaro (the LS1's even) and very similar to a 99 Mustang!

Still waiting to get the downpipe in. We have a fully seized O2, so I'm waiting for a new O2 so we can swap it out. It turns out the only place on the planet that has the O2 we need is Mazda themselves, and even my parts hook up ca't get it for less than 150.
