I'll drunk text him one night and see what's up.

Here we go!!!

Baseball
So we were talking about going to a baseball game. The CUBS are away that weekend (assuming this is still the first weekend, August 1, 2) but the SOX are in town Friday through Sunday.

I found out I have one of my biggest festivals (some gay fest) that weekend so I'll be super busy all week. But it's good that the CUBS are away because then we'd literally be going to a game surrounded by 150,000 other people in town just for the fest. SOX play on the southside so it's away from the mess.

So, we had a list going of people. IF we still want to do a baseball game, I'll need to pre-buy tickets. So I'll need exact number of people coming, and what day do we want to go? Tickets will probably be about $20-$30 depending on seats, but let me do my magic. Parking is like $23 though :(

Game Times
Friday: 7:11pm
Saturday: 3:05pm
Sunday: 1:05pm

I'm figuring most people will be gone by that time on Sunday, so that may be out of the question. I'll see what I can do about getting good tickets too. SOX aren't sponsored by Bud so I don't have any direct hookups :(

Camping
I've got some places to call. Obviously we want to be able to drink and cook and fires and all that crap. I'm looking for a place that's similar to the camp ground in MN, where they had showers and a pretty good setup for stuff like that. Was nice to be able to shower in the morning. More details on this when I get around to them.

Brian
You're going to be coming in early, right? We can discuss this privately but just seeing who's all good. With this big fest, I may have to bring you to work or something on Thursday if you come in early like you want to. I plan on taking off Friday and was planning Thursday too. I may be able to as long as everything gets taken care of early with the fest. I'll let you know the details on that. And you're kidnapping Foti on the way. We'll talk later.

Track
There is a "Test and Tune" on August 1st. Doesn't have a time, but I'll assume 7 or 8pm or so. OR, do we want to schedule a dyno tune? That takes a long time to do with a number of cars, and I'd rather do the track. It's $25 for all night runs.

Schedule
What day does everyone plan on coming up? I want to get the camp ground from Friday - Sunday so we can be there the whole time. I know people are coming from all over and times will vary. Obviously I'll be there first. And it looks like my place is on the way to the campground from basically all directions so if people wanted to stop by my hood and roll up altogether or whatever that would work.

Other
And than what else do people want to do? I mentioned paintball before and most seemed ok with that. We will obviously go in the city and enjoy some stuff down there. Any other ideas (if there's even time).

I'm down... Probably will leave Wednesday night after work or Thursday morning early depending on my schedule that week. But yeah I definitely was planning on being there on Thursday sometime. It's cool if you work, I wouldn't mind seeing the workplace and how it operates there. (As long as your superiors are cool with it.) We will talk more on it later...

Foti is a must... Everyone needs to tell this kid to go so he will ride up with one of us at least. (I think he is like an hour or two from my place, not that far at all.)

I'm up for whatever. Game would be cool, but not a major loss if we don't go to it. Camping is gonna be sweet. Paintball, I will need to rent stuff cause I have no gear... Definitely wanna see a little bit of Chicago too while I'm there... If the Talon is safe and running good enough to take that far, I doubt I'll wanna beat on it at the track or dyno in fear of breaking something major... But I'm really hoping it'll be good enough to drive up. If not, I'll be rockin the almighty Cobalt! lol

OK here's my deal.

It may be possible for me to go if I didn't have to drive. But, I really won't know until closer to the date. I could help with gas too. Basically I need to see how much money i can save up. If I don't have what I want then I'm going to have to back out.

My zip code is 14701 if you want to check on MapQuest to see how far you are from me.

About 3 hours from where I am living now. Not too far. It's about an hour and a half from the road I need to be on to go across Ohio so it's your call man. I've got no problem heading up there and picking you up since I'll be up that way anyways. It'll be a fun time! lol... I'm planning on doing a thursday-sunday deal if that works for you.

Hey guys, sorry I've been such a ghost lately. Since school got out I pretty much sit around, watch TV, sHrEd tEh Br00t4Lz on my guitar, and work.

I don't know for 100% sure if I am in or not. See, I was supposed to have a full time $14/hr job this summer and long story short they don't have enough work to take me on, so I'm just working at the restaurant. My hours are usually very irratic there, I am only scheduled for 2-4 shifts a week usually, but I end up working between 6 and 12 usually with only <15 hours notice for each new shift. That works fine, except that when I wake up Monday morning I don't know if I will have made any money by Friday afternoon, and that fuckin sucks when I have bills to pay. With basically no plan-on-able source of income I don't know if I can get rent, cell, and other bills paid, let alone the rest of my school for last semester and socking away money for next year. Basically, unless I make a bunch of money in the next couple months I don't think I can justify it.

:(

Damn dude. Everyone is going to bail again... I can see this happening. Tell them you need that weekend off. And just put a couple bucks each week away for the trip. It's not a lot. Gas is probably going to cost more than everything else. And if we just want to chill at the camp grounds instead of doing a ton of shit I'd be game for that too. I really don't care.

Where's Stevie?

Gas is probably going to cost more than everything else. And if we just want to chill at the camp grounds instead of doing a ton of shit I'd be game for that too. I really don't care.
Getting the weekend off isn't the problem, its the cost/reward ratio. Sure going and hanging out with you guys, most of whom I've never met in person and the rest I've only met once, would be a near invaluable experience but I need to make fiscally sound decisions as well. I still have some of last semester school to pay off, normal bills like rent, cell, gas, utilities, etc, and I need to get cushion going for next year. When it comes down to it on a typical Friday, Saturday, Sunday I will make around $175 between hourly and tips, but I can make as much as $300+. Now if I went I'd spend around $100 in gas alone, then camping, food, and booze could get close to a hundred, then going to a track, baseball games, and cleaning the pizza rug after the orgy is just going to get more expensive on top of that. If my second job comes around and I can start really raking it like I thought I was going to it wont be a problem, but if I get stuck with only a day here and there at my second job and no more hours at the restaurant then I was doing during school I just cant justify it, you know?

david-b

It's understandable. Do what you can, dude. Honestly, if you're kinda good, but need just a little bit to help you out, don't be afraid to ask. I got you.

BUT, just remember, if you don't come (and even if you do) I'm still going to drive out there at some point and kick your ass... just for the hell of it.

Ok so I've got some camp grounds I'm going to be researching and calling this week. There's one the IL/WI border right on the beach on Lake Michigan which looks nice and does allow booze on certain camp sites. Doesn't look like they have group sites but I'm going to call and figure it all out. Have couple others too. So hopefully this week I can get that all squared away.

But we're for sure doing this on the first weekend of August. That's set in stone now.

Ok with one month left, I am calling all the camp grounds this week and booking after posting results here. This needs and will be done this week.

Brian, I will for sure have to work that Thursday. Hopefully I'll have everything done by Friday for the fest so I will take that off then. We'll figure something out for that when it comes up closer.

So did we want to hit up baseball, track.... what are we doing? If baseball I'll need to pre-advance buy tickets then. Track we just show up.

Anything I miss let me know.

Stevie, for trip-planning purposes, you'll be coming down to zip code 60638. Tat should get you a pretty good idea of your route here. The camp ground is then a little farther north from here then. I'll get all that shit squared away. If I have to, I'll drive that distance up there sometime this week and talk to someone in person if I can't get a hold of someone by calling. It's about an hour from here, but I think that's the one that would work. It's by the beach and everything.

This is the camp ground:
http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/Parks/R2/ILBEACH.HTM

I keep getting busy signals today. If someone else wants to call, please go ahead and see what you can get.

david-b
07-04-2009, 10:14 AM
Alright finally got a hold of people... here's the breakdown.

Can't reserve the sites because if it's after August 1st (which it barely is lol), they don't take reservations. It's 1st come 1st serve. HOWEVER, they said that if we show up on Friday morning, that's our best bet. Everyone comes Saturday to reserve them, so we have a great chance of making it. Me and Brian can head up there right away on Friday and get the sites. We need 2 separate people to reserve 2 separate sites so that would work if we only get 2. Need the tents too that day, Bri. So we need a head count.

They don't have any group sites, but allow 4 people max per unit. So we could try to get 2 or 3 sites all next to each other and we'll be good. Booze is good for almost all of the sites.

It's $25 per night / per site.

So the question is, how many people are for sure coming? And is place worth while? It's the only one that allows booze since all IL parks don't allow drinking unless it's a state park or something.

Blackcrow64
07-04-2009, 01:39 PM
Dude, I'm so stoked for this!

Alrighty people. Roll call time. I'll send out PM's to everyone who said they would be or wanted to come to get a final total here. We need to know this week so Dave and I can plan everything out to get the sites picked up on that Friday. If we have more than 8 then we almost need one more person there on Friday to reserve a spot with a tent as well.

Copy and paste the list below this and keep adding to it so we have a total figure guys.

Thanks!

What would you guys think of Indiana State Dunes Campground? It's technically closer to every by a little bit, and about an hour from Chicago. it supposed to be a lot better, cleaner and more stuff to do. I'm going to call them and get all the details. I also may visit the 1st camp grounds this weekend and see what it looks like. getting mixed reviews on it now from people.

EDIT: Could someone actually look into the Dunes for me? There's a lot of info out there and just not having the time to check it out. Only campground I saw you could not have booze.

I'm planning on driving up to the Beach one on the IL/WI border this Saturday bright and early, as long as the car can make it there and back. It's 1hr and 20min from here, so about 45min with me driving. Just going to check it out. I looked at the Google streets part and I've been there a couple years back on the beach, not for the camping though. Wasn't bad beaching IIRC.

david-b
07-13-2009, 07:57 PM
Here it is, getting all the details set in stone.

Camping...
I didn't have a chance to drive out there this weekend (car broke down... what a shock) but I was looking at pics and I've been on that beach before. Also, since this is the ONLY place that allows alcohol, I think that'll work best for us. The youngins (ahem Jason) will just have to hide their booze should someone check up on us like they did in MN. That was scary... although no one reading this knows what I'm talking about anyways.

So on Friday morning, Brian and I will drive up there and get 2 spots (unless we need another I can figure something out) and get those all taken care of. I want to be there early, just so we for sure get spots.

I'm picking up a GPS unit this week so I can map out where all the food and everything is so once we all get there, can get some food and all that jazz. Also won't get lost... although again in MN that still managed to happened.

Again, it's $25 each site per night. So that comes out to like nothing when splitting it. I really wish we had a group site again, but this place doesn't have any of those.

The link again is here:
http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt...R2/ILBEACH.HTM (http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/Parks/R2/ILBEACH.HTM)
So plan the trip, and ask me if you have any questions on the trip.

Activities...

Thursday:
Brian and I will be getting sloshed and making bad decisions! (maybe)

Friday:
I figure on Friday, we can all meet up, BBQ, drink, chillax, and go swimming or something (Beach FTW!) But since everyone is driving up that day, minus Brian, I'm pretty sure everyone is going to be tired and not wanting to do anything. That's the way I was when I did this last year.

Saturday:
Lots of options here. The White Sox are home so we can catch some baseball. Sox play at 3:05pm. We can get tickets for nosebleed seats at the door. Not the best, but willbe cheap. (Beers are $6.25 each!) Cubs are away. Stadium is about 1 - 1.5hrs away. Most of you will see it when driving in.

The Chicago Fire Soccar team is also home that day. Game at 7:30 p.m. I've never been but I hear these are fun games. Tailgating is always allowed. Tickets I think are only like $10. Can find out more if need be. Stadium is about 1-1.5 hours away. Really close to my house actually.

There's also Test and Tune at the track Saturday night. Time is not listed (I think it's usually 7), but here's link
http://www.route66raceway.com/cgi-bin/r.cgi/rt66_schedules.html?SESSION=GCTkdUsd3&N=f&e_cat=Test+%26+Tune&event_id=2171
I don't know how many people want to run their car, no one is as crazy as me :)

For anyday, paintball was an option too. I want to say on the days where you have to buy paint, with all equipment rental and all day play, it's like $75.

We can also do things like going around the city, doing the touristy things, Navy Pier, going up on the Sears Tower... they now have glass-bottom 'rooms' sticking out of the building! So much we can do here

And for Sunday, I'm not sure when everyone plans on leaving so I'm leaving that open.

Dusty said he MAY be coming... we have to convince him. Brian, do your thing!

Awesome. The camp ground says we need to "be respectable" after 10pm. But we'll show them up!

I have 4 shot glasses... and won't take a single shot though. Beer is my choice... can't do shots at all.

Addy is:
1 Lake Front Dr, Zion, IL‎ 60099

I would google maps that first just to make sure that the GPS pulls up the same place.
