the kit was painted with gunze lacquers.
i'm sorry shorty, i don't have any plans on making resin copies. i don't think i did a clean enough job on this one to start selling these for money. i'm gonna leave that up to our resident entrepreneurs ;)

Looks great so far, but that wing is too heavy. With the wide body that wing would make the car seem bulky, better to look light and agile. A GT type wing would be best in my opinion. :)

thanks for the feedback guys. i guess i'll ditch the wing. my original idea was to keep it clean without the wing.... but then saw what i had lying around and just wanted to see how it would look. no wing it is.

not much real progress on this kit as of late. i've just redone the turbo and exhaust system. then i've been distracted by other projects. here's a pic of the other two which have consumed my time... one is a civic and the other is a sci-fi diorama... i know one doesn't fit this forum but here it is anyway.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/751897civic.jpg
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/346939sci.jpg
i just sanded down the civic and primed it to check the bodywork. nothing major just yet.
the sci-fi model is what's been taking most of my time. i've textured the body and added miscellaneous details to it as well as an operating searchlight. also scratchbuilt a battery housing with an integrated switch. modified the base so that the battery casing would be hidden underneath. i'm pretty excited about this kit but i don't want to ramble on about it.
i'm also redoing my 350z. this is how it once looked...
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/8872083502.jpg
been working on the front bumper for now. don't want to give away what i'm doing cuz i don't know if i can pull it off.
anyway, thanks for your interest in my projects! :D

That 350z looks really slick.. Question though, are those headlights LED's or did you paint them to have them blue apperance? If you painted them, what color did you use.
Also, what are using under there to hold that civic up?

camber, what's holding up the civic are plastic sprues bent in the shape of jackstands. just something a bit different when taking photos. and yes, those are LEDs on the 350z. the link to a how to for the lights may be found here in the clk thread i did a while ago (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?postid=779072#post779072). hope it helps.

I'm asking on how you made the manifold.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/766000manifold_mts06.jpg
The thing I don't know how you made was the two ends in the middle of the manifold, did you pull out plastic fomr the middle after it was heated?
I'm confused can't seem to figure this one out since you don't have any heat marks in the middle.

for the inside pieces of the manifold... just two pieces of sprue glued in there.
my engine was made referencing walter's integra engine. i know... i admit... no originality here but his design just looks so damn good! :D
getting closer to finishing this thing... i can feel myself rushing to do so... but anyway... here's a pic...

hey walter! looks like a cheap carbon copy of your engine doesn't it ;)?
what's funny is that i've tried another apporach to the manifold with no luck. i went for the manifold design which flows almost vertical. by the time it was done, it wouldn't fit in the engine bay nor did it have enough clearance.... the exhaust pipe and the turbo ran down too far beyond the engine bay.
haven't seen many posts from you. what have you got on the table?
again, thanks for blazing the path with your turbo design. i'm very much appreciative!
a.
ps. congrats on your tamiya magazine mention:)

the suspension is kinda wierd... i lowered it as far as it would go... meaning that i cut the suspension parts but it was still sitting really really high... part of the reason it looks so high is that i opened up the wheel arches by about 3mm to give it a better profile. what i did was to cut the suspension parts as far as i could and then glued plastic sheet to the back of the disks to act as shims. this way i can glue the wheels higher onto the hubs. in addition to that, the shims acts as an offset which pushes the wheels out a bit to fill the fender flares. in addition to the shims, i added a lip on the front of the rims to widen the wheels. wider wheels need wider tires so therefore, the tires were also modified to be wider. the resulting tires are one tread line wider than the stock tires in the kit... you can't really tell from the pics without the body on but when it is, you'll be able to see the difference.
at the beginning, i also was skeptical with the wheels but with the body on, i really like the way they look... i guess you’ll just have to keep an open mind and trust me until i finish this thing...
