Hello! My 2001 GM speed control worked intermittently yesterday. Today it is DOA. There are no recalls on my model. So I assume it is not going to be repaired gratis by Ford. I have the Haynes Repair Manual, but it just skims over the cruise control. Anybody have any suggestions or experience as to what the is most likely cause? I have looked at the switch on the master cylinder and it is still there! Brake lights function OK.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated

Here are the diagrams for your system. Find out where the current stops and you have the place you need to repair. On the Crowns, we have found the clockspring in the steering wheel or the servo under the hood. Also chewck to see if pins 6 and 10 on the cruise module are connected to a good ground. Use a meter to see if there is continuity toi ground. Good luck.

Just because Ford has not recalled your model does not mean that is does not have the same cruise control switch that has caused Ford to recall millions (yes millions) of cars with the defective switch that may cause your car to catch on fire. The list gets added to every few months and your car may be on it soon. GOOGLE it. These are just a couple.
