- the new Audi A4 to match my 1:1 (unlikely to happen).
- JGTC and tuner S15 (street Cwest S15!!!!) and RX7 (Knightsports RX7 like my avatar; why the RE-Amemiya racer was cancelled?? )
- Mazda Protege S (zoom zoom!!!)
- 5th gen prelude with bodykits

I'd say only the JGTCs and tuners have chances of ever being made in 1/24. The rest, just a dream :o :o

Hey Eric,

Keep your fingers crossed that Hasegawa will produce a Lancia Delta S4 in the not too distant future. In the last two years they have already molded the Lancia 037 and Stratos, rally versions of course. Hopefully a pattern is emerging and they will follow with an S4.

Of course it will depend on how well the 037 and Stratos sell if they issue any more classic Lancias. So I guess the best way to encourage them is to buy lots of their existing Lancia kits. I'm trying my best to do my part! :D

I'd be happy to get a full detail R-33 Skyline kit from Tamiya. A regular DeLorean kit that isn't from "Back to the Future" would be nice as well. Any newer Jetta, Golf, M3, and M-Coupe would become welcome additions to my collection if they were to be produced ;)

Tamiya already makes the Focus WRC, the Corolla WRC, and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII, and I have a sneaking suspision that they will make a 2003 XSara WRC at the end of next season seeing as McRae will be driving one.

My wish list for Revell, Tamiya, AMT or ANY decent manufacturer;

99-03 Jetta/Bora (my daily driver!)
71-73 Olds Cutlass Supreme convertable
A "state-of-the-art" 70-73 Firebird kit (Monograms 1992 release had horrifically bad body lines and proportions)
A "state-of-the-art" 78-81 Camaro kit (Monograms 1982 release has worn out it's welcome, and it's molds!)
A current M3 & M5 with some optional parts
A 74 Dodge Charger (easy one for AMT, convert the 71!)
A "pro-touring" parts kit - Recaro seats, Wheels, 350's with FI, 6-speed trannies, independant rear-end assemblies, steering wheels, Auto Meter Gauges - JUST PARTS! (I'm tired of making my own!!)

LICENSING!!
Chrysler started a very bad trend in 1994, asking big money from "toy" manufacturers who wanted to make replicas of their copyrighted designs. Many of the pinhead MBA types working in the other car companies thought this was a great idea and followed suit. Instead of creating recognition and brand-loyalty with kids they decided to follow yet another extension of greed.
This may or may not be the case with these cars, I don't know. It may be a combination of this plus and unwillingness to turn "toy" designers loose with certain engineering information.
Notice I only have 6 Chrysler cars in my 300 car collection, all bought prior to 1994!!

i think my sig says it all, first generation 2 door s10 BLAZER!! all american models has made a shitty resin body to go over a s10 truck, and you cant get them for under 30 bucks. add supplies and a s10 truck for the other parts you need, and you end up spending 50 or more for the damn thing.

i would also like to see someone come out with a 1/25 kit of just popular v8s trannies and differentials. the engines should have a selection of different valve covers, intake/carb combos and belt setups. not all of us like our vehicles with the stock engines!! i have to buy a whole different kit just for the engine i want (the 72 nova ss350 "old pro" kit form amt/ertl) i have no clue if that kit will come with the tranny i want tho. you cant really tell which tranny it is till you open the box  not to mention, i still have to find a car with a ford 9" rear. man i am gonna be spending way to much money on this model when it is all said and done.

But the problem is that you see a lot of the cars on the list are available as die-cast models by other manufacturers. Maisto is somehow able to obtain the licensing for many of these cars (especially the MB's, but they do advertise that they are the exclusive maker of some of the MBs.) There's also AutoArt, Minichamps, etc., that makes many of the other cars. Unless they have contracts with the car manufacturers that has a blanket clause of all scale modelling forbidding even plastic kit manufacturers from making them, I don't see how a company like Maisto can afford to buy the license for the SLR, for example, (and only sell a limited run of these at MB dealers) but Tamiya can't.

It's probably because diecast market is much bigger than the plastic market. Sadly, people don't put together model kits, but they just buy a decently made diecast

Anyway, Tamiya never said they won't release the SLR. In fact, they want to make a model of it, and it will only happen after the production version is revealed.

I asked a Tamiya sales representative, "Now that you raised the bar with the Enzo, can we expect the same or even better with the SLR and Carrera GT?"
And he replied, "It was only possible, because the real car was made that way. Quality and easiness of building is our primary concern, and as long as it's met, whatever comes next will follow the same philosophy."
I also asked about license matter, and he said, "We've been having a healthy relationship with MB and Porsche, so that shouldn't be a big problem."
I asked, "Will the SLR and Carrera GT be released for sure?"
And he said, "We don't know, but we certainly want to do that to go with the Enzo. I hope I can convince my boss, and customers' input is very important."

I'm very optimistic about the SLR and Carrera GT.

Well, my wishes are
Jaguar XK8 (XKR) and Aston Martin DB7 (same chassis)
Subaru Legacy B4 S401 (Why not Aoshima???!!!)
Daihatsu Copen (Aoshima, Fujimi, anyone?)
They say Tamiya is working on the Nissan March (Micra)

I have to wonder, why are there so few Jaguar models made by Tamiya? We have the LM racers, XJ220, and Mk 2. Hasegawa also makes the S types, and I seldom see anything else. No XJ-S types, classics like the XJ13, etc Does it have anything to do with licensing?

Mmmmm, cars I'd love to see as kits, but have had no luck finding them even in resin:

Anything Pierce Arrow

Lamborghini Espada

Bentley S3

Rolls Royce Phantom III

Citroen DS family (in 1/24 1/25 scale)

Citoren SM

Any Renault from 1965 - 1970

Any Holden from 1965 - 1970
The same goes for any Australian Chrysler from those years.

Humber Super Snipe

Iso Grifo

1938 - 1941 Senior Packards

1939 Cadillac

Early 70's BMW's and M cars

Anything Minerva

Facel Vega

Any of the 4 seater Ferraris especially the Superamerica

All 3 of the Alfa Romeo BAT's (one exists now in resin! Woo Hoo!)

Any 60's Peugeot

Any 1959 - 1963 Chrysler product
(Anything from Virgil Exner's designs for that matter)

Any car built from 1910 - 1918 in 1/24 1/25 scale

Aston Martin Lagonda

Any of the Chrysler concept cars of recent years that haven't been released yet as kits.

Anything that is pre 1970 ambulance, hearse, or flower car.

1949 - 1951 Lincolns and Packards

Any Lincoln from 1932 - 1939

The Moby Dick Porsche (sorry , i can't remember the number)

The new Maybach

The new Cadillac CTS

The new Infiniti G35

The new Enzo / F60 Ferrari

The latest Pontiac concept cars (can't remember their names, but boy are they sharp)

As you can see, my taste is very ecclectic. If it's quirky or rare, I love it even more.

While I wish Hasegawa has the S-type model, they do have good XJ-S high output, TWR street, and TWR racer, with good looking v12 engines.
What we need is XK8!
I don't think it's a problem of licensing, because I heard that Jaguar Cars is more understanding when it comes to Jaguar models.
It's more like how many copies of a Jaguar model can be sold in a certain period of time. And that number is not like several hundreds, but it's like 20,000 - 30,000, and some kits take a decade to cover the tooling cost.
