There's a wide plate holder mounted on the rear of the car, but no plate attached.

First post on here, had a quick look around, amazed with the knowledge of the F1 on here and the amount of detail on each car.

Anyway, I've got lots of photos of car #009 when it was at the Melb F1 a few years ago (actually the same time as the photos in this thread). Even though I got to see the F1 GP seeing my first Mac F1 was more memorable.

Have pics of the interior, ID plate, exterior etc.

Let me know if I should post them up, they aren't online but not too hard to chuck them up...

The McLaren F1 on display in Macau is almost certainly #016. :sunglasse

Check out some new photos taken by a German while on holiday to Macau over on FerrariChat. They include some photos of the interior, which would have received a refit since the last time it was seen here in the USA, but there is at least one unique and telling clue that exactly matches #016, dating back to the time the car was in Germany prior to 2004. Also, after seeing the car in person I'm fairly convinced with his close ups that the paint color is a match.

Interesting that he labels the photos as "Malaysia". The car has definitely been moved from where it sat before, but if it is no longer in Singapore that would be a significant change.

re #023 - I had noticed the steering wheel boss being different to others in having the 'Stewart Tartan' on it instead of 'F1', but have only just noticed the wheel nuts have what looks like the the tartan on them too

Hmmm no #08R seen during that F1 weekend?

According to one helpful source, this is the McLaren F1 that belongs to Sheikh Salman, who was previously identified incorrectly as the owner of #08R. No help on the chassis number so far.

This is perhaps a bit of news. A while back on FChat someone asked:

"Does anyone know of an F1 sold new to Portugal?"

My response was: "I've never heard of an F1 in Portugal, but since I don't know everything I can't rule it out."

There are three references to Portugal in this forum found by searching - one is off topic about World Cup Soccer, one is text related to the "McLaren the Cars" book that mentions Mika Hakkinen winning his first race there for McLaren in 1993, and the final one is found in a listing of EU country codes. Basically none of them have anything to do with an F1.

Then today on L4P there was another comment/question that offered a little more detail:

I'm from Portugal, and to my knowledge there's a F1 over here, although I've never seen it.

The only thing I know it's that it isn't silver! People who've seen it say it's a darkish gray... titanium gray maybe?

Do you now anything about this car? serial nr? spec? any special request or mod made to it?

Sadly, it seems we can't help the guy, but I thought it was worth mentioning here since within a few weeks there have been two comments in separate places that seem to imply there is a car hidden away somewhere in Portugal.

Does anyone reading along here have any pieces to add to this puzzle?

I've just updated this thread too, with new info and locations for cars already on the list and one new entry - I've re-upped some of the 'lost' photos too :)

Now you are making me feel guilty about not updating the other recap threads yet. :redface: :uhoh: Guess I need to step it up. :grinyes:

A couple of things to note, the pics of chassis #018 are from its time in Singapore. Perhaps they should be updated to show it in NZ since we do have some great shots available now.

The pics of #037, while great, don't acutally show it in SA. They were taken at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands. I found some in this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=478572) that were still active if you want to use them, or there are a couple of others that I could share which could be used as well if you don't have them already. (thinking you should)

#053 is not accounted for here yet, but you'll recall we saw pics of it on a shipping pallette inside a plane supposedly headed for somewhere in the Middle East.

Of the SPS cars, #064 is the only F1 left in Hong Kong to my knowledge. I am not positive where #063 has gone, but there was rumor it went back to Japan. It is for sure no longer with SPS.

#068 is now back in the USA in Massachusetts with Dan Watkins.

That's all I can think of at the moment. :)

Yup, I missed the fact that this was an old post by him and at that time it was believed to be 049 as evidenced here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=3195385&postcount=26 - 'This is most likely the Barazi car which is believed to be chassis #049' (Peloton25, June '05)

To come full circle on the story, I think mini magic was the first to come up with #049 as the possible chassis number for Barazi's F1 through one of his sources. We ran with that assumption for quite some time before someone - Le Man's brother, I believe - finally put eyes on the chassis plate and returned with a photograph identifying it as #046 instead. I think Patrick had similar info/photos the following day as both saw the car at the same location.

We haven't always been perfect, but we try to base our assumptions on available info and work hard to get it right in the end. Each little piece of the puzzle we can confirm helps to solve other mysteries. I'm also careful to be clear when something is assumed versus when it is known fact, and others are too most of the time.

I believe that's Rowan Atkinson's car. It always surprised me he was never on their Star In a Reasonably Priced Car segment.

It's chassis #061 owned since new by Rowan Atkinson in the UK. It was flown to Abu Dhabi for the TopGear test. They used his car in an earlier episode when they tested Nick Mason's Enzo as well.

This appears to be two shots of #016 taken in Hong Kong. I wanted to say it was possibly #029, but the set of photos also contain images of a silver Enzo which swayed my opinion. Also, these shots were taken in April and May and there's a photo of #029 still in Japan as of a few weeks ago. I'm waiting for a response from the photographer to find out more about the car hopefully.
