yea...I searched for names that came up only once. After that, took the name and googled it with "woman driver" and other combinations. that got me to http://www.menstuff.org/womenracers/womenracerslist.html...Yoshikawa, Tomiko, Japan - Raced sportscrs in Europe and Japan in the early 90s for several teams. Ran Le Mans in 1992-94. Also competed in single-seaters up to Formula 3 in Japan.

We have a winner, Erik.........He sent me the answer via a PM at 7.11pm.

A women racing a GTR....:yikes: (Tomiko was also in 05R at Suzuka in 97,must be handy behind the wheel!!)

But to be fair, Erik did say he will pass, on this prize. Not sure if there was some indecisive answering or editing going on, Pimp349. Which let Gerd in to answer correctly as well.

So, to not cause any animosity between anybody. I shall send all three of you the same prize.:)

Peloton25

I agree with Greg's answers on the first three - XP1LM, XP5 (though that leaves me curious as to when/where it was taken) and #046. The last car however appears to be taken from a video, so I could imagine the image was made by pointing your camera at a monitor or TV screen. My guess will be #065 in the Park Lane showroom, but I don't say that with any amount of certainty.

hurstg01

I guessed at =047 as it seems to be a close up [hence the poor res] of part of a shot of when #047 was at Goodwood FOS this year, as it was sitting on the chequerboard metal base -
http://img44.imagevenue.com/loc817/th_68892_IMG_0371_122_817lo.jpg (http://img44.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=68892_IMG_0371_122_817lo.jpg)
And I think all the pics were taken by you or your brother(?) - at least 2 of them
#046 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4948720&postcount=23) - as the reflection seems to show a row of cars and some parking bays
#047 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4817818&postcount=46) for reasons stated above

I'm guessing that due to the quality of the cars in the pictures you have shown us a glimpse at Le Man that you also have seen XP1LM and XP5 over the years :worshippy

OK -
XP1LM due to the amount of lights shown in the reflection on the mirror, probably taken at the London Motorshow
56XPGT - seeing as you saw it at Silverstone in '97
and I'm sticking with #046 and #047 due to reasons stated before

I'm also now thinking the first pic could be #16R (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=4302832&postcount=139) - that would tie in with the clue of all being taken with the same camera - all the AF.com links I have posted have pics taken by Le Man and all link up with the colour of the wing mirrors

So now, if my guess re the XPGT is incorrect, I believe they are #16R, XP5, #046 and #047

I figured out the trick, but still have the question to contend with... :uhoh:

There's a McLaren in that photo, but it's not the car the mirror is attached to and it's highly unlikely that it is green. If you look extremely closely at the photo you will see that a McLaren F1 is visible in the reflection on the mirror with the near side door open. The car appears silver to me, but given the green color of the mirror it is very hard to be certain.

I'm going to throw out a guess that the mystery McLaren is chassis #040 just because of it's frequency of use. However, I would once again not be surprised if I am incorrect.

Fun little game here though - wish I had more time to play. :)

= = = = =

Chris - XJ220's were one of the many supercars of that area to use the mirrors sourced from Citroen that were also featured on the first few F1s.

I've been trying for a while to decipher what that reflection was - I ended up with just a car with a roofbox on it / ladders - great work Erik; If that is the case, then my guess would be #020 due to it's frequency of use and the fact I've seen it in a field before (albeit between motorhomes) or #046 again, as I last saw it at the Goodwood Revival car park a few years ago

Yes, you are correct Erik, I did ask for the four chassis #, but thinking that most of you would spot the rogue picture easily. I was awaiting for the answers as follows.
1) XP1 LM
2) This is not a McLaren F1 pictured, but a VW Corrado. So no chassis #.
3) #046
4) #047

Sometimes, we see only what we want to see, or are lead to believe what we are looking at, is the subject matter that is of the moment. Is this not, how the great illusionists and magicians work. Also we sometimes read printed matter, which we take as the truth, but then at a later date someone displays the inaccuracy of the the original statement. To the truth telling persons disbelief, everybody will not listen to him.

As for seeing an F1 in the mirror reflection is spooky, because even now when I look at the pic (and when I posted it) I see what looks like an F1. Although in a slightly different format to you, to me its parked with its front to the left of pic, with its engine cover open and what can be clearly seen as the door duct (lower left) This is a strange phenomenon, because I can assure you there was no F1,s present that day, at the local car show I attended, when the pic was taken.

This quiz is supposed to be a lighthearted weelkly interlude to test people,s F1 knowledge and to expand the knowledge of others. Please, and this goes to everybody, do not take this quiz too seriously, however competitive you are by nature.
Or is it because, there are some really good prizes up for grabs
