Getrag don't make a front transverse 6-speed gearbox for all-wheel-drive.

they only make a 5-speed for that spec, and it's rated to take 320Nm, or 236lb/ft. and if "your" 3000GT was making "530bhp" i think it would be making a little more than 236lb/ft.

3rd is more believeable for both a 5 and 6-speed.

The first gen Mitsubishi 3000gt came with the five speed getrag W5MGI the second gen 94-99 came with the W6MG1 which has the same design to the first appart from the addition of an extra gear.

I've done 150 MPH in a stock standard BF Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo Automatic(speed limited to 240 km/h and confirmed off the gearing chart) on a circuit - stock as it was my company car.

I don't remember what the NSX did on the drive day on the same circuit at the same place because the passenger (one of the Honda sales folk) was yelling a lot and his knuckles were clenched after I bypassed the traffic cone chicane they'd put just before the kink to slow everyone down...

The quickest I've been in a road registered car was about 163 MPH again on a circuit... it was certainly the quickest car I've been in - it gets to 60 mph from a standing start in less than 4 on road tyres and less than 3 on slicks but it's questionable at this stage of development it will ever see a public road legally again... except on a trailer.

Speed in gear (MPH) = [RPM x tire diameter in inches] / [final gear ratio x 336]

estimating your car has 19" wheels, and the tyre diameter is 23".

let's say you rev to 7,500rpm. and you say you can do 100mph in second. let's see...

7,500rpm x 23" = 172500.

final gear ratio for second is 6.908 for the 1991-1993 models.

6.908 x 336 = 2321.088

172500 / 2321.088 = 74.31mph.

oh dear, look at that; you've come up 25.69mph short of your claim.

let's say, for example's sake, that you had a later gearbox (second with a 7.368 final ratio) tyres with a 25" diameter and revved to 8,000rpm.

you'd still only do 80.78mph.

with the above specs you'd need a 5.900 second final ratio to top 100mph.

And I take noone's side on this but a VR4 can do 165 stock (though geared to go 202 if you reached redline in 6th gear).

I wont get into the whole Ralliart issue, because frankly I don't care. However, right there, your 'expert' sounds like the one on crack. vr4s most certainly do not run 24psi stock. Tire pressure maybe, but I can guarentee multiple things will happen WAYYY before you get to 24psi stock.

Even on 94 octane (the highest pump gas I can find around here) your knocking at 15psi and hte ecu is pulling timing like crazy as you destroy your internals. Your injectors will be WAY WAY WAY over 100% and failing miserably at providing anywhere near adequate amounts of fuel. Stock fuel pump wont keep up much longer, even if you had swapped out the injectors. The stock td04-9b turbos can barely hold 10psi to redline. So even if you had the fuel mods to keep up, they would be doing nothing more but blowing a HELL OF ALOT of hot air. Your stock y-pipe will be blown completely off your throttle body at ~15psi, hitting the bottom of your hood with a nice loud thud, and stalling the car. Probably saving you from grenading your engine.

With upgraded injectors, fuel pump, turbos, and a few other supporting mods, you could run 24psi, but certainly not on pump fuel without getting knock counts in the teens at the bare minimum. So I have no idea who your 3000gt 'expert' is, but I certainly wouldn't want her within 200 yards of my vr4. Because NO vr4/rt-tt is doing 24psi stock or on pump gas and making it more than 200 yards before a rebuild.

their website doesn't list ex-production manufacturer-specific gearboxes, so i was wrong and wasn't aware of them supplying a gearbox for mitsubishi to use in the 3000GT. stop trying to draw attention away from the facts and figures.

i know ratios can be changed, i have helped friends change a number of gearbox parts. so what ratios do you have, and what's you rev limiter's max?

if you knew anything about gearing and ratios, you'd know that wheel/tyre size, or more accurately, rolling circumfrence has a lot to do with gearing. the tyre surface is the final gearing, larger wheels give higher top speed and lower acceleration, and vise-versa. what the fuck do they have to do with anything? a lot, actually.

why don't you get a dyno run video'd, and show us the chassis data plates, if it was made by ralliart it would say, and the article says the car featured was made by Steve Millen, not ralliart.

so for a final answer, no. i don't think the car in the mag is yours. i don't think your car can do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. i don't think it can reach the claimed 196mph. i don't think it's making 530bhp. and i certainly don't think your car can do 100mph in second.

The 6spd car is geared for more actually. Somewhere in the 220-235 range I believe. Granted nobody is driving up there that I know of, because frankly there might only be a couple in the world with power capable of hitting those speeds. Stock the power no longer overcomes drag at 160mph. Also stock gearing, 100mph in 2nd gear isn't happening either....stock gearing.
