Thats right alittle info on the new album.
11 tracks 77minutes and it is supposed to sound like the undertow album as far as heaviness goes. the first single is supposed to be released in about a month and the album in about 3.

I've been on top of it for a while, yeah, i heard it would sound a lot like undertow as well, but still keep the solidity of a single thought process portrayed by lateralus. I heard one of the tracks will be 20+ mins? that one could be internet rumors.
ne way, yeah, the album is expected may, maybe june. i'm seriously gonna nut myself on the checkout line when release date comes.

The best part about a new Tool album is a new Tool tour. They always seem to come to MN at the beginning and at the end of each tour. Its fun to see them twice Maynard disapears to do A Perfect Circle.

I was so dissappointed to miss the Haloween show here in NYC for their lateralus tour. I hear it was one of their better shows on the US leg of the tour. (Europe shows and Japan Shows are supposedly SO much better than US shows... lucky bastards.)
I saw APC here on their 13th step tour, it was a very good show. Lot of pple think they suck live cuz they don't have energy in most songs, but imo, it's not a band that makes you go wild, their purpose is to portray art, and maynard does it so well with the visual effects and art contributions from Alex Grey and HR Giger.
Some shows are great in that aspect; I saw a show up in Buffalo, it was Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and Eric Sardinas opening, and all three performing an encore together. A laid back show, everyone sitting down in a small performing arts theater, just appreciating the talent of the three amazing guitarrists.
Incase you guys didn't know already:
The New Album's name is (drumroll please...) "10,000 days"

what do you guys think of the new song titles?
Sounds kinda tripy! Almost sounds like a Floyd albums song titles.
I think it'll be worth the wait!
Hopfully I get to see them again this tour, Lateralus was awsome. A real mind pleaser :)

i can't say much about the titles, but just looking at them as words, i like the titles on lateralus. however, i'm sure i'd have something different to say once i've heard the songs. till then, they are just words.

I suppose even after we here the songs, they are still just words.
Well I am pretty anxious to here them, though I will wait for the release of the album,as opposed to geting the bootlegs off the Net.

true, but you get the deeper meaning behind why they chose that word to be the title of their song. and looking through the list, you'd see how the album ties together, as tool never throw songs together, but rather has one song's message or thought segue into the next since undertow. for example on lateralus, 'The Grudge' (obvious, talking about a grudge), > 'The Patient' (justifying the grudge), > 'Schism' (def: seperation due to the grudge), etc. Their album is more of a story, read from cover to cover. i'm pretty sure they followed that format for '10,000 days', as well.

true thier albums over the years hav had a simular themes through out the entire albums and do seem much like a story. prety good ones too :) But I wouldnt say one song leads to the next on all of them.
I had heard this albums going to be kinda like thier first, Opiate, x10! I loved Opiate, so I'm sure this will be equally pleasing to my ears.
~ I'm gonna wait it oooouuuut ~
they do use some odd names for titles though, like 10000 days, thats like 27.4 years.....Hum, maybe i am reading to deep into it. Lol
at least it should be out in aprox 7weeks or so, Yea!

i heard it would be more like undertow. i'd say that's the heaviest tool sound. Opiate was a completely different sound, all together, not what tool has become today. You see, Maynard got a lot of influence from Rage Against the Machine, and Opiate was set to be a very controversial, anti-establishment album, very thought provoking and very sharp. Just listen to the lyrics of 'Hush':
"I can't say what I want to, even if I'm not serious. Things like.... Fuck yourself, kill yourself, you piece of shit. People tell me what to say, what to think, and what to play. I say..."Go fuck yourself, you piece of shit. Why don't you go kill yourself? Just kidding."
~Hush: tool
I'm not saying their views have changed, and as a band they have changed. their message in many cases are still the same, but the sound and deliverance is very different. i.e. lateralus, the messages were very poetic, cryptic, even. however, 10,000 days may be going back to being sharp, as even songs like Aenima were. i don't know for sure, this is all internet rumor, we'll be sure when we hear the album

I dont think MJK got his influences from Rage though they did tour on Lalapaloza back in 92 or 93. Most of Hush(and the rest of opiate) is refering to the corporate label BS they were strugling with back then.
I know they did get out of that contract, and went to Volcano so they could do what "they" wanted and not some jackass CEO's opinion of what they should be singing.
But ya they hav changed over the years and they just keep geting better at writing great music.
I do see the '10000 days' being In your face no holds bar'd with sweet over tones of the occult  Youve been to thier site, you know what I mean.
Hell when I saw them on the Poluza tour with Rage, I didnt even like them, MJK was wearing a dress w/large breasts, I was drunk and confuzed about the whole show:) But NOW I really like Tool, I must say Aenima is my favorite with Lateralus second.
THose two realy hit home for me, in a way, not that I've had prison sex or stickfists, but I think I understand where the songs are coming from..

Yeah, lateralus and Aenima are may fav's respectively, but it doesn't mean i don't like their other records. Have you heard their live Salival album? They play songs from the band Peach, guitarrist Adam Jones' old band. also a very sick album.

You didnt like Tomahawk? they werent to bad, no Faith no More(mike patton). I like the song "God Hates A Coward" the rest are kinda lame.
thiers also a country band named Tomahawk, now they suk!
Always forget Salival , its awsome for a bunch of covers. I hav some bootleg live stuff w/ Vacant which was changed to APC song(w/a different name) they used in Constantine.
They also hav a song in the Run Ronny Run movie, "Ass kickin Fat Kid" pretty kool all thier covers dont come acrossed as covers. MJK is good at that!

I don't know if you know about the now dead "Tapeworm Project". Big names like Manson and Maynard were partaking, directed and produced by Trent Reznor, Chris Vrenna, and Danny Lohner. I say dead cuz there was a lot of financing issues, and a lot of secrecy was violated (i.e. APC playing "Vacant" live, when it was still in the process of being produced and released as part of the tapeworm project)
but yeah, i've got a bootleg live version of Vacant. imo, its better than the softer, more artsy approach they took on their eMotive album under the new name, Passive.
If you're looking around for more Tapeworm bootlegs, search for 'Warlock' by Manson mixed by Lohner and Reznor. It's worth a listen, but it was never a finished project. there are more out there, too, but none of which sound any good. Vacant was by far the most complete and best sounding, followed by 'Warlock'.
Last, if you liked Salival, especially the song 'You Lied', give a listen to the album Giving Birth to a Stone: Peach, where the song is originally from. It's also got great songs like 'Spasm'.

vinnym86, the Tapeworm project would hav beeen nice if it all worked out. But Reznor was trying to get his band swinging again and MJK with all his little projects and Danny Lohnor, well he's a loner :)
Dont think I've heard Warlock... Hav to look into that. Ya I heard some Peach songs they werent bad.
I know a guy who "supposedly" has a video of MJKs first band (CAD) , when he was in high school. Havnt ever heard it either :( I hav been trying to get ahold of this guy(who sells bootlegs) to purchase, I mean trade ;) and get the CAD and some older concerts from the 80's.
Stuff most people dont like, Mercyful Faith, and other metal bands.
Not long now at all, lets just hope the Tool Album doesnt get bumped again for some stupid reason.

I don't think it will be bumped now that they have an official date. They've already brought the record to be mastered by Bob Ludwig in his studio up in Maine on the 1st of February, sent them to the prints, and now its all in the hands of Zomba group records. If there is a push-back, though, it'll be the label's fault.
Tool had alredy announced their European tour a while back, but no word of when the US leg would start, not even if it will be before or after the Asian/Aussie tour. I certainly hope that they will have a better band than Tomohawk this time.

Latest "Official" news not found on their site:
Billboard.com is reporting that TOOL have selected the song "Vicarious" as the first single from their upcoming "10,000 Days" CD, which is scheduled for release on May 2 via Volcano. The album opener, which stretches past the seven-minute mark, is due to arrive April 17 at U.S. rock radio outlets.
According to Billboard.com, the 11-track "10,000 Days" sports a number of epic tunes, particularly "Rosetta Stoned" and "10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2)", both of which clock in at 11:14. Near the end of the disc are the substantially lengthy "Intension" (7:21) and "Right in Two" (8:56).
"10,000 Days" is the follow-up to 2001's "Lateralus", which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 2.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
TOOL will headline the second night of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, scheduled for April 29-30 in Indio, California. The band has not performed live in the U.S. since late 2002. The group has also mapped out a European tour that extends from the end of May until mid-July, but full North American plans have yet to be unveiled.

Yea we've played it a few times today but I have yet to catch the first half of the song. It sounds a bit like a cross between the lateralus record and undertow.

Theres was some dude that called in to ours a week or so ago requesting fall out boy and MCR the dj told him he was a fag and that they don't play fag shit (on the air) You can go to 98rock.com the play on the internet to what is playing on the radio. Pretty cool if I ever go out of town I can still jam to what they play.

The good thing about Tool......is that even though they have put out alot of albums can anyone name one that just shouldn't of been? Example Korn(this latest album and a few others), Nine Inch Nails(fragile)
Kudos to tool

^I agree. NIN had become the goth/new metal/industrial version of emo with their Fragile record... except Starfucker... that shit rocked. With Teeth kinda put them back up there, but they're still kinda... not their old 90's selves. i'd say my favorite songs are 'Head Like a Hole', 'Closer', 'Hurt', and 'Perfect Drug'. I'm seeing them in June in Pittsburgh!!

this album is crazy...on the song Intension near the end DC lays it down with some electronic drums. I dont think I have ever heard him do that before. He tears that shit up.
