Sorry I didnt get back to ya sooner.
I saw apc on thier first tour with Snake River Conspiracy in 2001.
APC kicked totall ass! It was St patrics day and PAZ had nothing but shamrocks covering her nipples and panties with a big shamrock on the crotch(these were floresent green btw). With the black lights on stage it was very awsome. MJK came out with some funky out fit and said Indianapolis ment party naked in Indian  Then they jamed! Sometime MJK appearently had these stripper pants, because with one hand he ripped off his shirt and pants. Done the show in speedo's, what a man
At the door, they handed out green condoms to promote safe sex. It was the first show I had been to in 4-5 years, so I was impressed!
On to the TooL mystery on the album sequence and secret listning.
I was thinking, split the songs "right in two".
It doesnt sound to bad so far, listening to it right now. Seems to all come together. I just left out 11Viginti Tres.
You all enjoy the TooL shows coming up. I'll probly not see this round. I havnt heard much of ISIS, seen thier myspace but didnt wait for the songs to download. thier just the salad before the main coarse :D

yeah, i'm very excited to see them with Isis. Blair talks highly of them all the time on the website so i've been listening to them for a while. I also really like Volto!.
xero, the APC show i saw was 13th step tour, so Manson's bassist Twiggy (Geordie White), taken Paz's place as she was with Zwan. The set design was really cool, like u said, but i guess not as cool as St. Patty's day decor.
Blair announced that this leg of the tour will be very special as the band will be taking full advantage of the enormous space they will have at the arena-type venues at their disposal.

I really can't imagine what a band like Isis is going to be like live, but I'll be surprised if they don't rock every bit as much as Tool.
Neurosis is probably the only band I would have preferred over Isis to open for Tool.

Play the song Intension backwards. when reversed, at about 5 min 45 seconds, there is a hidden message:
work hard; stay in school; listen to your mother; your father is right

It is said that phi, the Golden Ratio in mathematics, can be used to describe a spiral; a reference commonly used in the song Lateralus. What is interesting about this is how the Fibbonacci Sequence is used to find the Golden Ratio, which approximates to ~1.62. The Fibbonacci Sequence is defined recursively by:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/1/5/6/15627655e8b1d9ab02e90e3c1d523249.png
This sequence gives you the numbers also known as the Fibbonacci Numbers, {1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ...}
Here's where it gets cool: The song Lateralus is very closely tied around the Fibbonacci Sequence and the Fibbonacci Spiral. In the song, Maynard starts to sing at 1min 37sec into the song, calculated into 1.62 minutes, the same number as phi, the golden ratio. The verses on Lateralus coincide with the Fibbonacci Numbers by syllable. Try it, put on the song, and count along by syllable:
[1] black
[1] then
[2] white are
[3] all I see
[5] in my infancy
[8] red and yellow then came to be
[5] reaching out to me
[3] lets me see
[2] there is
[1] so
[1] much
[2] more that
[3] beckons me
[5] to look through to these
[8] infinite possibilities
[13] as below so above and beyond I imagine
[8] drawn outside the lines of reason
[5] push the envelope
[3] watch it bend
pretty cool, huh?

I had a lot of fun last night. We entirely missed the opening act, but who cares really. The first 2 or 3 songs Manyard wasn't singing that much and walking on and off stage. My friend who is a really big Tool fan wasn't getting really pissed off. He then came on and said he appologises for not playing that well because he was sick. Don't know if he really was, but I'll take his word for it.
After that he song a lot stronger from then on, but you could tell he wasn't putting a ton of energy into it. The visuals were really cool. It's been over a year and half since I smoked last, but I wanted to blaze up so bad because it smelled so good. Unfortunately no cameras were allowed in so no pics. But there were a ton of people.
They played for around an hour and a half give or take. They didn't play Sober so that pissed my friends and I off seeing as it's on of our favorite songs.
I really do have a lot of respect for them though. Manyard called for a moment of silence for all who died on 9/11. Of course it didn't really work out, but I thought that was cool as hell of him to do. I didn't expect it.
Overall I did enjoy it. My friends who had been before said the energy level wasn't nearly as high from the band, nor was the overall entertainment aspect. But I liked them and would go check out again for sure. It was definately a good night though.
I had heard that Manyard was a former military man, is that true?

Isis!!!
I had heard that Manyard was a former military man, is that true?
He went to Westpoint
I saw them in May and they did Sober then, it killed live. It's not even near one of my favorite Tool songs but it was one of the best in concert. Sorry you had to miss it.

yeah, the band postponed the San Antonio show because of "illness". I figured it was Maynard's voice, as its not the first time its happened. Some of the peices he performs calls for great vocal strain that really test a human's ability. (this is why Tool barely ever played 'Ticks & Leeches' live)
I'm really psyched for the show, i'm hoping they play the two Wings songs, as it isn't on the setlist at every venue. I've also been listening to Isis, i'm excited to hear them open.

Tool did ticks and leaches in INDY on thier Lateralus tour, it was great ! MJK can scream as well as he sings.
I guess all singers hav trouble singing when they are ill, hope no one elses dates get cancealed. Id rather here them half ass then not at all.

10,000 Days (Wings, Pt. 2) (http://media.putfile.com/Tool---10000-Days-Wings-Part-2)

Sweet man! As you already know you'll have a great time.
I had 2 beers at chili's and one 24oz at the concert when I got in the gates. Even though he didn't give 100% I still had enjoyed it.
Not sure if you're even a fan, but give Boy Sets Fire a listen. I know their a bit on the emo side, but I don't consider them emo. I went to their concert back in May and they rocked the house. It was in some no name coffee shop I barely even found. Maybe 50 people there, but they played with the energy of a 1000 people.

Boy Sets Fire? i don't think i've ever even heard them, but i'll be sure to check them out. Last time i was in pitts, though, we got lost and was late for the 1st opening band for Bauhaus and NIN, some band called Peaches, with a chick vocal. (not Peach, the UK band that's covered on Salival) anyway, hopefully i'll be on time this time. i definitely don't want to miss Isis, though. if we're even late for that, i'll be disappointed.
by the way, did you check out the tour shirts? i know they're usually refuckingdiculously overpriced, but i'm getting atleast one anyway. If the designs are really good, i might get a hoodie too.

SET LIST:
Stinkfist
The Pot
46 & 2 (Extended)
Jambi
Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)
Roseta Stoned
Mantra
Schism (Extended)
Wings for Marie, Pt. 1
10,000 Days (Wings, Pt. 2)*Encore*
Lateralus
Vicarious
Ænema
The show fucking rocked. Unfortunately, we got there during the last two performances of Isis, but they rocked out hard. It's too bad the crowd wasn't really into it.
The stage was amazing; consisted of about 3 rows of 6 or 8 giant white projection screens, and one row of the same amount behind them (as seen on the Metal Tutu picture) where they played videos accomodating each song. that and fog, lasers, and fiber optics made for an exceptional visual experience. The two Wings songs were amazing; really moving, but my favorite were Lateralus and AEnema.
Anyone else who's going, you're in for a good time :)

i saw those, too... they were fake. like, the logo was botched and the designs were not the same. some were real crap quality, too. sometimes though, you get lucky n they're real.

Mine looked good. Good enough to not be worth paying an extra $25 in the stadium anyways

^seen it. If you wanted to see something really cool, look for a vid of "Pushit" in Germany where a fan comes up on stage and maynard flips him and puts him in a headlock until the fan passes out. (he used to be in the military, you know. West Point Academy). Another fan also jumped up on stage during this, and a stage-hand went fucken line-backer on him and the guy flew off stage. All the while, Maynard kept singing.
Anyway, there's more to this band than just being heavy... but if you want the simple answer, i'd say Undertow and Ænima are the heavier albums.

I'm upset that is looks like they're going to be in my neighborhood during spring break when I was planning to be on the other side of the country.
I'll work something out though, a tool show is NOT to be missed!

you know, they're rumored to be playing at Bonnaroo. I don't know how much this rumor holds true, though.

LIVE DVD!!
So, the unofficial statement made by tool's webmaster is that the band will be releasing a LIVE DVD, a compilation of the best shows they've done on the upcoming (postponed) tour. No information if that will include the Bonnaroo show. Now removed from the site, there was also a picture of Adam's (guitarist) Great Dane apparently eating the plans and other scribbles concerning the Live DVD. looks like the dog ate their homework.

Puzzle Solved?
i dunno if anyone cares anymore, but here's something interesting i just read:
"10,000 Days" Puzzle Solved?
First of all, don't kill the messenger if this doesn't work. I simply report this stuff.
believe it or not, the album apparently syncs up with The Wizard Of Oz. Here's a snippet from his post, explaining how to do this:
1. play the movie. the black and white lion in the MGM logo roars three times. AFTER the THIRD roar, PAUSE the movie.**
2. play '10,000 days.' be sure to set your stereo to 'repeat all tracks'
3. at EXACTLY - 1:44 into 'vicarious,' UNPAUSE/PLAY movie.
4. you know you did it right when the loud 'thud' at the end of 'wings p.1' corresponds to the scene when dorothy's house lands in oz.
5. sit back and enjoy.
He also goes on to say:
at first it my seem awkward because of the weird way to synch up the movie [pink floyd is simple by comparison], also listening to 'vicarious' at the beginning, it doesn't seem to gel obviously, but 'vicarious' will make more sense when it repeats later in the movie. trust me, but the time 'jambi' cuts in, the lyrics will begin to synch up with what's happening. by the end of 'wings p.2' you will think "meh. interesting coincidence." BUT, when the tin man scene kicks in, you will know that this is totally legit. THIS. IS. FOR. REAL.
So, there you have it. Have fun trying it out.

This was probably the best tool show I've seen. The opening band Melt Banana didn't seem to win too many fans but I thought they were cool just cause the guitar was so crazy. Melt Bananas guitar and drummer came out to help with an extended version of lateralus that rocked the house.
