f-body status list...

i just read this in another thread and i thought it was something good to talk about... just how many of us exactly have cars that are not working? or can run but are in the process of being worked on? and who's cars are tearing up rice and upholding the f-body name?

my car is down right now, sorting out power steering problems, speedometer problem, and a short circuit...

Mine was running HARD yesterday morning. Took it out to get the gas tank close to empty.

Then we tore it down. Probably won't be running again for 2 months, maybe longer.
Damn valvecovers took FOREVER to cool down.

Mrs. Scarlet - aka 1989 RS TBI 305 - R.I.P. shes dead and gone, found frame damage durring my attempt to repair her from the last accidnet, now shes a parts car.

She Devil - aka 1989 IROC TPI 350 - runs like a top, starts up with one maybe two cranks, and finally has the front bumper cover on, need to find my rivit gun to get the chin spoiler mounted. next is the dash assembly, and shell be street legal again :)

yea... mine is still in the garage. sitting there because I can't afford to buy $60 self-aligning rocker arms.

After 6 months and $5,000 . . . I'm not driving because a $60 purchase. Bullsh*t. Payday is thursday though.

I am very happy with the current status of my new/old pride and joy.

As long as my engine is nice and cool i could take a stock civic........i had problems with a ford escape(small suv whatever it is) I was depressed for a couple days after that.....once my engine is about in the middle of the second and middle marker on the temp guage its al over and im not goin anywhere fast.....sucks......Mine sounds mean though. But like i said i have problems with minivans and suv's.......im gonna go cry now.....

have you run it for codes?

running put with tons of problems. Over-heated today and I had to push it off the road. Good news though! Tomorrow is pay-day and I will be getting a new Radiator!

are you blowing white smoke and or losing coolant, if not, then I doubt the problem is that major.

Mine runs fine, with the occasional problem ( usually simple ) But I kept up with a 3000gt yesterday, but then at about 75 he started to pull the win. Most any civic, some eclipse, and most any minivans. I am mistakened for a v8 so ALOT of people dont want to race me. Kinda funny acctually.

In between. Runs and rips, but still not done with accident repairs (DIE UPS)

i put kicking ass, even though i am bone stock, i freaking raped a 94-95ish mustang gt yesterday... from a roll... in an A4. so far im 6-0. the only real wins that mean anything to me though are the mustang and the bmw z4 i killed about a month or so ago. and actually the grand prix gtp as well only because i messed up launching and spun up to 50mph or so. lol.

Check out your radiator cap first. I swore on my life I had a blown head based on mass air bubbles in the radiator and overflow, ended up being mainly a cap that would not pressurize the system and lowered the boiling point dramaticly.

My '85 Z28 is runs like Bin laden from SEALs but this weekend I need to throw on some tie rods and brakes. Then it's off to the sniff test before the state suspends me, it's only 16 months overdue what's the big freakin deal:)

Plans for this winter are the same as last resolve alot of body panel issues & sub frame isssue.

Sucks having a car that runs strong but physically is becoming intolerable to look at.

Oh, one last thing, I am having an issue with repeat failures of the thermostat gasket. Is there a massive defect with the water neck on the TPIs? I'm going to check for warpage this time, last time I put a stat in I had a hunch the neck was having problems, but nobody had the right replacement in stock.

lol well my baby runs her ass off, i decided not to be a biatch anymore and used both nitrous shots and she layed down 340 on the dyno last weekend (its been raining so the air has been much cooler than ususal) but i recently purchased a ls6 with a 6 speed tranny to throw in, now i just need to get the odds and ends to get the swap going, hope to be done around the holidays. i recently put it down on some fool in a evo on thurseday, he started running his damn lip at a red light about how he smokes camaros on a daily, then had a nerve to ask me was my car a ss??? wtf, i have rs badges all over the damn car but the way he got spanked he should think i have an ss...smh

oh by the way i think i may be able to get a bit more out of my new rebuilt 3800 it needs to be tuned a bit more and how it runs when the throttle is wide open needs to be twerked a bit.

My girlfriend and I have an '02 Escape and those things move. I was shocked as hell when i first hit the gas in it! It can spin the wheels (front wheel drive, mind you) all the way thru first gear and into second. And they get to 80mph pretty quickly. A lot more performance than you would expect from a small SUV. Don't feel too bad, just start modding.

My maro runs like a fart in the wind... cut her loose and she's gone. BUT.. I still have the #3 cylinder way low PSI problem, trans needs rebuilt (I think), and could use some freshening up: new carb, new headers, new front rims and tires (ones on there are way to skinny for me), new brake pads, power brake booster, etc.

And would someone get their ass up to Philly so I can race someone??? No one ever wants to race around here. WTF???

Well my car was down for about a 4 month period while I replaced the tranny, lifters, pushrods, and connecting rod bearings. I finally got it running last night and had it checked for codes. It says I have a cam position error but thats it.

The worst part is that last night around 2am it suddenly wouldnt start, so I could be in the process of replacing a couple more things. HOORAY!

My Mustang has been doing it's impression of Camaro for a year now sitting in my garage on jack stands and in grey primer:evillol:

I drove my Z last Saturday for the first time since November (was the first time I even saw my babe since then). I ran her the whole day and it was great being behind the wheel, but she's still got issues (which is why I decided to write off the whole summer and incorporate all these fixes into the tear down this fall)


Her issues…
At least one scorched ignition wire,
Minor fluid leaks from the behind the water pump, intake, and transmission,
An optispark and coil that have been sitting in this oil for a good 3+ years,
Catalytic converter that’s come apart internally,
PCM program that I’m pretty sure has gotten corrupted by crossing power programmer tuning, module tuning, and in-house GM tool tuning,

Her symptoms…
Won’t turn over until at least the second or third attempt,
Abnormally low idle (only 500 RPM when warmed up),
Shitty breaking at low speeds (thanks to the above),
Oil pressure gets sporadic when nearing time for an oil change (pressure rises during acceleration then suddenly dips down, then rises again)
And the sound of tin cans rattling underneath the car,


She looks fabulous – like a brand new car – but now she really sounds like a ten year old car… rattling and chugging and coughing LOL
No worries though; she’ll be running like a champ next spring.
