Kit: Fujimi 1/24 Lamborghini Murcielago

Following RallyRaider's tips (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=310193), I've moved the wheels to a proper positon...

http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-02.jpg

Then just before spraying the main color, I found something wrong with the panel line...

Yeah I only noticed that panel line when it was too late. Good work fixing it, same with the wheel positions, how Fujimi got them so weird is puzzling.
Keep up the good work! :D

If you take the small rectangle (just beneath the headlight) as start. The panel line should go along the bottom, but Fujimi has made it above...

I did a "little" update...

I did not start this project and I just put the box on shelf. Notes saved before my start. Awaiting the completed model from yours. Keep it up!
I am now test-fitting the PE parts (by Acustion) for the Gallardo and it seems that it is okay so far.

really good adjustments youve made, id be affraid to build this kit, seems like you gotta do a lot of fixing to get it to look right, i like the rims, what size are they? i think they would look a little better if they were larger

The dampers are made of brass tubes and nickle silver rods. :)

Yes, u're right. Larger rims will look much better. They're come with the kit. I'll keep on using them by adjusting the height a little more. Hope it won't be disappointed cause I like the original rims.

as i have a similar design on 360cs, so i think i may apply a similar design on my murcei too, so wanna to look deeper to your design for reference.

hope you dont mind~ :evillol:

For the dampers, I've drawn a diagram for easy explaination... ;)
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-18.jpg

The support on the engine hood is an add-on small plastic sheet with a 0.5mm hole.
Those Nickle Silver Rod can be bought at www.mediamixhobby.com.sg

Hope it helps. :)

Thx MidMazar.

As said by rx7king, the rims should be larger even the body height was lowered. So, I washed out the chrome by immersing them into diluted bleach water for 10 minutes...
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-19.jpg

then increase the diameter of the rims with a piece of 0.5mm plastic sheet...
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-20.jpg

smoothing the edges...
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-21.jpg

does it look better now?

:iagree:

It is hard to see on the photo how exactly you widened the rims with sheet.

Just a strip of plastic glued around the rim? No problem with the tire as the rim is wider now?

Yes, just a strip of plastic (about 3mm wide) glued around the outermost of the rim. Since the tire is elastic, it tolerates with no problem. Thanks for your comment as well. :)

Thanks DasWiesel.

Just started the body paint job. Sprayed the whole body with Tamiya's white primer. After it dried, sprayed a few mist of TS-47...
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-23.jpg

After a few hours, sprayed a few mist of Pearl Yellow...
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-24.jpg

Now it's hanging there for clear coat later. Hope the pearl effect will be more prominent after topping with clear coat.

Do you realy think you need clear coat? It looks very nice now...

Veyron
05-17-2005, 08:25 AM
The pearl effect will increase with clear on it but Tamiya's pearl paints are not very flashy. They look good in the sun but in normal light the pearl doesn't show very much.

05-17-2005, 02:32 PM
Wow!

That is going to be yellow.
Can't imagine what it is going to look like after the clear.
Going to just glow out in the sun.

The pearl will also pop a little more with the clear.

Keep up the great work.

Definitely keeping an eye on this one.

Thanks for reconfirming that clear coat will make pearl come out. :)

But after reading Veyron's Murcielago, I'm tempted to correct the windshield problem... :banghead:

Veyron
05-17-2005, 09:28 PM
Yikes!

It's probably not worth a repaint just to fix the windshield issue, check some other Murcie builds and you'll see some didn't fix it but they still look great.

Careful taping/masking of the paint and trimming of the plastic and repainting won't be necessary...but it would be nerve-wracking until it was finished.

Though I'd just leave it if the body is already painted, and just paint the trim gloss black. It'll still look fine.

A_C
05-17-2005, 10:54 PM
Yes, I see a lot of great Murcie (with or without modification) built here. Since I may not build another Murcie, I'll try to fix all the issues in this build. But don't know how many fixes still hanging there, what a typical Fujimi kit... :banghead:

The clear usually makes the pearl, or even metallic "pop".

I'm working on a tamiya Countach 5000 and my GF asked why I painted it black. After clear and polishing, she realized it is actually a dark metallic grey. I just mixed gun-metal and aluminum.
So it did really look black, especially because the gunmetal was a flat paint. But after three coats of clear and some polishing, it is a really nice color.

As far as the windshield goes, I would probably try and fix it myself, but that is just me....

Good luck, and looking forward to more pics soon...

about the clear over pearl paints.
how about using their pearl clear instead of the normal (TS-13) clear?

Fixes continue... separate the windscreen and side window glasses (not photoed)...
http://photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/Murcielago/ML-25.jpg

Remade/trim most of the window frames so that the glasses are mounted along the frames rather than inside the frames...

Great work! This color combo looks just like the real Giallo Orion Pearl that comes on the Murci.

Oh, and just so you know, I plan on using this build of yours as a point of reference for fixing the flaws when I build mine. :) You are just that good.

Merkava, I like the color name - Giallo Orion Pearl, sounds like a muscular bull.

Mic, I think Fujimi has been watching this group as they got a lot improvements in more recent kit, like the Gallardo.

I used one of them (http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/GoodsDetails_e.asp?Bno=&It_c=10014994) to cut the window slowly and carefully. Sometimes little scratches may left, I use "3M Clear Plastic Polish" to remove the scratches. Then use some Tamiya Wax to clean it.

I bought it from a local hobby store in Hong Kong. I think it's hard to find because it's a limited release with the launch of Tamiya's Penzoil R34.
