'95 Blazer LS (Fully loaded - power everything) 138,000 miles. Second owner - it was a chick's truck, so I know it was never handled roughly. Runs, hauls and plays in the slop nearly good as new. It's on it's second fuel regulator and CPI unit - the Catalyst was cooked and plugged when I bought it, but the problem was corrected long before it was sold to me. New cat and paperwork for the emissions and it's solid. *Crosses fingers*

'95 Blazer LS, fully loaded. 187,000 miles. Runs strong and i still haul cars around. Just towed my brother 99 Mustang from PA. Did 65 without any problems, even up hills. Had a small oil leak, but that is taken car of. WAY better than my '95 Explorer i had that blew up at 145,000 miles. PS FORDS SUCK!

2000 Blazer LS - 61,000 miles. I am the second owner and have added about half of those myself. No Major problems. The alternator went out but it was under warranty. Besides that and my current radiator problem, nothing major. Knock on wood!

I bought my 2000 with 30K real clean used by a nurse for work only. At 40K the problems statred some were covered under the extended warranty. It has 76K now runs fine. Lots of interior squeaks and rattles also buzzy pcv valve is annoying. IMO not really a top notch prodcut from a build quality point of view. Strong 4.3 motor and trans. Good off-road capabilities. The 2-door has the spare on the back so very limited rear visability especially with the with angled pillars and tinted glass -- poor design I did not notice on first test dirve.
Had an 89 that went 156,000 before the A arms rusted through. That tryuck was the same but much better visability.

Wheel hub assembly both sides-- very expensive at the time (parts might be cheaper now)
oil cooler hoses replaced
Main bearing seal --oil leak
drivers door hinge pins --
leaky transfer case gasket

Phillip Cross

Bought my 2000 with 30K from a nurse in Delaware who never went off the highway. I have 75K now but started having problems at 40K. (had an 89 with same 4.3 went 156,00 before A-arms rusted through -- that one was from N.E. PA)

some of the bigger problems with the 2000 so far

wheel hub assemblies -- both sides -- very expensive
oil cooler lines -- not cheap
main seal -- oil leak
drivers door hinge pins and bushings
crazy fuel guage
wiper combo switch bad
gas mileage slipped some at around 50K -no improvement after tune up (maybe needs oxygen sensors)
leaky transfer case and diff. seals

I value the strong engine and trans, and the good off-road ability and would like to stay with american built but IMO this one is poor build quality vehicle. rattles and squeaks inside. Buzzy PCV and other not so quiet engine parts.

Also dangerously poor visibility from rear with tire mounted on back and angled pillars -- did not approeciate how bad it was on the test drive -- and the truck looked so sweet.

This board is a great help. even if you cant do all your own work the information is great when talking to the service techs

Hey everyone im new to this board. Don't look down on me because im 18.. haha. i have some general knowledge of automotive considering some of my friends are mechanics and schooling for it but im no wise guy. anyway, my 97 blazer LS just rolled through 148,000 miles. i have pioneer sound, custom lights, and BFG Allterrains [nothing special] i bought it 10 months ago from a former GM mechanic at 136,000 miles so im pretty sure it was taken care of. Although i have had the following fixed/replaced since last May:

Windshield wiper motor/solder fix
Alternator
Heater Core [being fixed right now]
Various hoses and radiotor clamps etc.

is this alright for having it a year almost and only runnin into these occurences? also... as of the last week or so.. since the last time i used 4x4 to get out of friends driveway.. there is an occasional quiet whining noise when i accelerate between 1500 and 2000 Rpms. not always but like every other day or so. is this bad? thanks for the help guys..

your from flint? im from clio just north of there. but anyway, your flickering of the dome light sounds like a problem i had. its probly the drivers side pin thing that sticks out keeping the light off when the doors shut and it gets pushed in when the door closes. mine was too short so it never closed when i closed the door. i had to use black duct tape and put a stack of 5-10 pennies inside the door so it would push that pin in all the way. nice huh.

I bought this vehicle for pulling my 16' runabout and my business. It is a PITA sometimes, but i love s blazers! pulls like a mother, never had any problems on ramps, wet or dry, takes a beating! Loves the snow! pulled a stuck 2500 chevy van loaded with wood flooring out of a snowbank this winter in 4 Hi. My friends ask me to drive when we go play by the river or in the snow. Buddy has an 98 explorer that can't seem to manage more than 5-6" of snow. Ha! This is a toy for me now, (3rd vehicle) and I have now owned a total of 7 different S Series since 1984.

I do most of my own work, and it is a labor of love. Interior is stock except for the carpet, and I just love her!
