Woot! I am in the 150,000 mile club now. She just rolled over that landmark and due for filter/oil change in another 2k. *Crosses fingers* She's been awesome after CPI kit, and fuel pump+filter swap. Here's to 150,000 more!

1999 Blazer LS 2DR, 2WD. 98,918 miles with no problems, but it's still pretty new to me. Previous owner replaced the fuel pump. I've flushed the radiator of Dex-Cool and changed the oil.

1989 S-10 Blazer 2DR, 2WD. 182,356 miles and no problems with nothing but regular maintainence. This Blazer was so good, it's the reason I bought the 99 model for my new ride. I still drive the 89, but it was the year model with the bad paint (or primer), so it just doesn't look as nice, but still drives like a new one.

Hello and thanks for your answer, but i think after read many post in this forum the problem is for any heater reason, when the transmision is hot the hard shifting 1-2 appear, any valve or other when is hot make the problem.:frown:

If you think the problem may be this ground misscontact i may open a new theme with this..

The '98 did not have the ground strap problem, open a new post and give us some more details, like when it does it, when hot or cold, or all the time, if you restart it, does it go away...all these things.

Mine wasn't part of the years covered either but it fixed it and never had one bad shift since the upgrade.

1999 LT Blazer 4 door 4WD. Just turned 101,000. Just finished the plug replacement and the tips posted here helped.

Still need to replace the door hinge pins as outlined here and also having the noise when starting. I will try the AC filter to see if that helps.

1997 Olds Bravada......103,600 or so.

Replaced:
ball joints
alternator
battery
starter
pitman arm
idler arm
serpentine belt
flushed dexcool
door jamb switch
u joints
washer tank leaks
oil lines leak
washer fluid drain in rear cargo area
door pins (both front doors)
new shocks
new wheel bearing
full tune up

Thats all in the past year.

Rides like shit, compared to when I first got it. Interior rattles to the point that it sounds like its gonna fall apart. Gets about 13 miles a gallon in the city, according to the overhead display. Sometimes I just want to give up on it.......but I really do like it, for some strange reason.

Dont feel bad mine was at 90 when i bought it now at 117 This being after it sat for about 8 months with no rear. Im starting to find all the problems, never had a tuneup, had original tires, Im not kidding, needs ball joints, u-joints, and some other fun stuff to replace. And now my damn air cleaner bolt literally fell off, i have to drill and retap the hole at work. Man i love my blazer, im not being sarcastic i love the look of the older body style.

And on a side note what the hell was magnum thinking. Oh well if you dont respect the mods you get a nice vacation.

The 4.3L is a really robust motor.

With proper maintanence, it should go over 200k easily.

But mind you the tranny doesn't usually last that long.

Everybody looks to drive short.

2001 blazer, 2dr, 2wd, manual shift, 96,000 miles.
I am 1st owner and it still runs great.

Oil and filter chage at every 3333 miles.
2 fuel filter changes.
2 air filter chnages.
Driverside door hinge pin busing replacement
Air pump, vacuum valve, relay changes, 2 times' fuse replacement, air intake hose rerouting due to secondary air injection malfunctioning.
2nd set of tires, and tire rotation every year.
Injecting grease at every grease fitting once in a year.
Stant radiator cap, and lots of dex cool - I had a leak, but it look O.K now.
R32 A/C coolant refill this summer.
1 serpentine belt - I had no choice but gatorback, this was the only one murray carries. this one looks O.K so far.

I am satisfied with this vehicle, the one thing I am not is the stiff clutch pedal.
My joint got weak and sore because of this stupid clutch pedal.

My Blazer started leaking pretty bad, so I went ahead and fixed it a couple weeks ago. I thought it might be easier to do the motor mounts and both sets of oil lines while I had the tranny out..... it wasn't, it was still a PITA, but at least it's done........ until they start leaking again in 6 months.

1999 Blazer LT 4.3 ... Just over 360,000 km and countless front wheel hub replacements.
Strangly enough, the wheel camber was adjusted my last alignment and haven't done a wheel bearing in a while ... fingers crossed.

Notable replacements ... heater core, (yes took out the dash) both upper and lower ball joints, 1 front and 1 rear brake caliper, alternator (actually bad built in Vregulator) door hinge pins and guides ... several, rear intake manifold gasket. Water pump, ignition key switch, seat adjusters both twice, 4wd actuator (I live in cold cold winters, water got into it ... froze and blew it apart).

Needs to be fixed: wiring in rear door ... no wiper power or door locks.
Door locks all around, side mirror electrics, map lite electrics.
Most failures are attrributed to opening and closing the hatch and doors a million times.

1997 Blazer 222,200 miles.
Transmission rebuilt
Intake manifold gasket
Front hub bearings
Complete rear end overhaul-- replaced all bearings and used the axle repair replacement bearings to repair damaged axles
Fuel pump
Oil cooler lines-- on third set now
Water pumps
Alternators
Radiator
Front differential bearings & seals

Hmmmmmmmm.... I used to think this was a low maintenance vehicle until I compiled the list..... Oh well, it is getting my youngest son through college and soon he will be able to buy his own vehicle! Still beats having car payments along with college costs! :)

LT 4 door full loaded - 2001 - 66k miles (only)
- Tie Rod End
- Battery
- Gate Ajar switch (fixed, disable the rear wiper while not fixed)
- Weird 4HI / 4WD AUTO : only 4LO
- 1 catalytic converter
- 2 air filters
- 1 fuel filter
- oil + filter serviced every 5000Mi
- 1 rotor and 1 distributor cap (previous cracks and wear)
- 6 new BOSCH PLATINUM+4 IR FUSION Spark Plug
- Trans + Axle just serviced. Add Lubeguard on trans because of T° in south of France (10F to 104F)
- 3 x 4 tires. Last one XP2000 -> Noisy and "Holiday On Ice" traction feeling.

95 Blazer 226k miles.

-tranny at 127k
-2 water pumps
-2 altenators
-front ball joints (upper and lower...twice)
-2idler arms
-2 brake boosters
-2 egr valves (cleaned countless times)
-spider fuel injector (turned out was only the fuel pressure regulator)

Now I have to replace or rebuild the engine. Not from it just wearing out or from engine failure. It either cracked the block from the coolant freezing (and yes, the freeze plug poped out), or from letting it idle with no coolant in it and I may have warped the heads (didn't know the freeze plug poped out of it.)

It's been a great vehicle all in all.

Wow, its great to see this thread still going. Since '05 I have sold the '93, the '95, bought and sold a '98 two door, and now at the '00 Jimmy with the envoy package(I hate caling it an Envoy, since its a Jimmy/Blazer). This one is at about 228,000 kms/140ish miles. All of them had their usual problems, but all in all were good trucks. The '93 was by far the most reliable one out of all of them, and I am still sorry for selling it to this day. I had both the '95 and '93 back then and the insurance, basiclly, along with the other two vehicles I have, the cost of keeping them on the road was just starting to get unrealistic. In total I have owned 6 of these trucks, an 87,89,93,95,98, and currently the '00, thats how much I've liked these little trucks over the years, and know a thing or two about them. Still though, the '00 is going to be around for a while now.

Ok so another year of driving.
New alternator ... voltage regulator went so had to replace the whole unit.
Fixed door locks, side mirrors and assorted electrical. Corroded connector on bottom of main power distribution block.
Replaced 2 siezed calipers, they were pretty worn and the bleed screws were impossible
New distributor cap, spark plug wires and condenser fixed major starting problem
Air Conditioner needs anual top up. Can do this myself now.
Engine runs like its just broken in :)
Next up is rear differential ... has a leak and some body surface rust repair is scheduled.
Amazingly, the factory anticorrosion sealant is great, no major rust spots, just some surface rust to correct under doors.
I love this truck. I need a seat cushion now as the original seat springs have failed a bit making driving uncomfortable.

In my original ...
Forgot to mention 2 U-Joints replaced.
Still on the original exhaust system and origional headlights ...

Two 2000 Blazers 2wd 4dr
#1 105,000 miles- Heater core, radiator. Currently power steering pump seeping, low frequency whine just started hearing.
#2 100,000 miles- transmission, radiator, both front door hinge pins, oil cooler lines, fuel gauge sensor in tank, manifold gasket & 2 valve cover gaskets, idler arm. Currently the power steering pump is seeping, master cylinder seeping.

A strange single knock has started on the passenger side when breaking or accelerating, or going over bumps (not as noticeable because of other noises). When I tap inside the wheel well with my knuckle, it sounds like that, but I can't see anything loose that's causing it.

Hopefully Blazer #2 will keep going, as it's our only car now. Getting trans. service & differential changed next week.
