I've had a number of these trucks.

1987 GMC Jimmy w/ 2.8L V6 2 door / 2 wheel drive had 172k Miles when i sold it 2 years ago, rebuilt trans. twice (110k & 165k miles).

1996 GMC Jimmy SLS w/ 4.3 V6 2 door / 2 wheel drive with 190k miles and still running strong. No major mechanical repairs. Replaced heater core 5 times over the years and radiator core once due to dexcool coolant problems.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3 V6 4dr / 2wd 39k miles. only standard service work done to date, seems to be as stout a truck as the others i've encountered. However, with that said, this is the first truck i've encountered the door bushings splitting on.

Change your Radiator Caps on the 96 and 00 and you will have less DexCool problems. The AC Delcos are defective.

Now you just need to get a new one, bag it, throw on a mach performance or whipple turbo (or s/c) and make him jealous! :iceslolan

95' Blazer LT 4 door, second owner, I use it everyday, but I only got 85,000 miles on it. Alot of short trips. The 4.3 vortec ho runs as good as the day I bought it 7 years ago. Minor maintenance, alt., brakes, exhaust, the spider under the manifold, switch on the evaporator, fuel pickup rusted through, had to pay to have the transfer case seal replaced (was shooting tranny fluid all over my engine through an overflow, sucked) and some other stupid things. I only mention what things I had to fix because I think they are common to most blazers around my year and this forum helped me diagnose and fix these problems. Right now I have water leaking in the top of my doors, hopefully I'll have the new weatherstrip on this weekend and it fixes the problem. Don't want to replace pins and bushings if I don't have too. Anyone have problems with the front bumper rusting, my needs pulled and painted, the winters in pa are rough on vehicles. Its the only place my Blazer that has rust, wondering if its a defect. I take pride in working on my blazer, frankly I wouldn't want anyone else working on it. I keep it clean and people can't believe it's a 95'. Hope mine see's that 250,000 mile mark!

p.s.- I just wanted to thank everyone who has contributed to this forum, your advice and knowledge has been greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a 95 Blazer LT 4dr 4WD... It only has 88000 miles on it.

I have done no work on it yet, besides regular maintenance, but I am going to do vacuum lines, upgrade interior (lighting and upholstery), etc... (see below)

Rear Bumper from 97 Blazer
Front Grille/Headlight guard
2" Suspension lift
Sylvania Silverstar Headlamps and turn signals
PIAA off-roading lights
Clear Corners
Different Taillights
New Wheels
Ebay Cold-Air intake (or i might try that mod)
Gibson performance exhaust
Gibson high-flow cat (damn california)
New Stereo ($700 custom system (made by me) to be put together when i get the money to get the parts)
New Paint Job (Metal Flake Black)
New color-matched Grille

And that's all I can think of (for now)

93 S-10 Blazer, 4.3 vin W. Bought it apx. 18 months ago with 64,000 actual miles. I am the 3rd owner. The truck was well taken care of the first 3-4 years and 12K but the second guy was "rough" on it. It was used off road quite a bit, most likley checking oil or gas wells that are "rough" to get to around here. Did at least keep the fluids changed. It is a "plain-jane", nothing fancy, no digital dash, cruise or push button 4x4. All plain. Does have A/C at least and while it rides rough it is set up pretty well for off road use. Tow hooks, and it has plating almost everywhere underneath. Tan paint with couple of dents and some minor rust in the normal places, and the tailgate needs work. Took a week to get the damn smoke smell out of it, as it was used by a "heavy" smoker. Still a decent truck with a lot of miles left on it. Has 98,000 miles on it now. It gets decent milage, 21-22 mpg in the warm months and 17-19 in winter. I put a tranny cooler on it when I first got it. Other than normal replacment of hoses, belt, and tune up the only problems have been a heater core, door handle, and ignition module, although I have had some issues with some idle speed and nuisance stalls as of late. Cleaned EGR, IAC, reset the idle and replaced O2 this evening so perhaps that is resolved. So far I have not been disappointed with this truck. Suits my needs just fine.

Bought mine at 45,000 miles two years ago. She's cleaner, louder (stereo), faster, and healthier. Almost at 80,000 miles now, runs better and more effeciantly than ever. Only had to replace the tranny 5,000 miles ago. TOO much powerbraking.

'98 LS W/117K. Paid $14K four years ago, now I can't even trade it in because of all that is wrong with it. I can change the brakes with my eyes closed. Needs doors pins, 2 speakers, rear hatch won't unlock from outside, both mirrors inoperable, rear roll pan rusting badly, needs third idler arm, jack cover pins broke and cover won't stay on, vibrates so badly the speedometer numbers blur, can't keep it aligned, so many rattles inside I feel like smashing it into a tree. Of course I've already resoldered the wiper board and replaced the seat handles and replaced two front hub assemblies. Now there is a loud clank when you first start out after shifting into drive. And Chevy wonders why their market share has shrunk. I'll never buy another one, that's for sure.

1998 LT - 90k miles. I picked it up in December for a song and the only money spent was on a new hub and fluid changes. My goal is to have it 100% synthetic by the end of this month.

Am currently seeking new/second job to afford all the mods I want to do!!

94 blazer 136,000, 1991 s-10 pickup with 225,000 and a 1991 full size g20 Chevy van with 179,000. I also sold a 1988 Chevy astro van with over 440,000 (verified through carfax) a few months ago. It was used as a delivery truck for a medical supply house but im not sure what had been replaced on it. THESE ALL HAVE A 4.3 LITER ENGINE. I just bought a silverado 3/4 ton for my business that I can't wait to see how far it goes (got the 350 though) It's got 88,000 on it now.

The only Ford I have ever owned is a 2003 Ford Taurus with the 3.0L Duratec V6 that my wife just had to have. It went 8,000 miles before it started using oil and smoking. She now drives a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo.

In it's life ...

two alternators, one diffrential (just two years ago), one transmission (5 years ago), three
mufflers, one belt, (hood , windshield courtesy of Midas), ummm... other than that, all original, rust too. Oh and the obvious tire every couple of years. And one Catalytic converter... I think that's it... oil changes, oh yeah, New rad just this summer, and a new blower motor too. FOr ten years of running not bad for a truck that's offroading and haulin ass still!

I love my Blazer!

95 Blazer 4X4. 156,380 miles. Gone through a couple CPI units (not cheap!) a starter, a couple EGR valves, alternator and water pump. My mechanic told me recently I had low compression in two cylinders, which indicated (to him) that a head gasket was leaking. I paln to run this thing til it dies! I love it and it has rarely let me down. Does anyone know if this thermogasket stuff works. I debating whether to just pay the money and get the engine overhauled or buy a new truck? I'm the original owner.

1997 Silver Blazer (W) engine. Bought it October 2004 with 161,000. Just hit 200,300 a few minutes ago. No problems yet, except maybe the upper control arm which broke a few months ago, and usual wear and tear issues (tires, tune-ups). Love this baby.

Bought blue 89 Blazer 2 door 2WD in 98 with 115,000+ on it.
Traded it in a month ago with 176,000+ on it.
In those 7.5 years, outside of basic maintenance, only replaced starter, muffler, and 2 water pumps (total cost about $800, including labor).
Mechanically, she was solid as all hell.

NONmechanically, she was starting to age. Headliner, weatherstripping, paint, stuck hatch, broken switches and panels, etc., etc. But still a sweet truck, if not necessarily as pretty as when I bought her.

Traded her in for a blue 2000 Blazer 2 door 2WD with 92,000+, hoping to get as much use out of her as the 89. Both trucks have/had the 4.3L V6. This engine ROCKS.

89 spent most of its time here in Key West, so didn't get much driving here, but before I got here, spent a year and a half traveling the U.S., averaging about 1,000 miles a week. No complaints, no worries, did everything I ever asked of her.

2000 will see more daily mileage soon, as this summer will be moving back to Phoenix where things are far FAR more spread out than the tiny island of Key West!

Remember...friends don't let friends drive Fords!

1991 S-10 Blazer 4x4 4.3L 235k Let's just say that due to Maine winters it has more rust than it should. The steering is so loose. No more rocker panels, they finished falling off last winter. Has a nice oil leak, from the location I am guessing rear main seal. Driver's door is so rotted, I am wondering how it is staying together. It doesn't come close to being shut. But what can I say, they don't make things like they used to. It has gotten me through several winters where the 4x4 has been greatly apperciated!

Update:

95 186,000+ mi/299,300km

Since then, altenator, front shocks, clogged egr valve (seafoam took care of that), rear pinion seal, and fuel pump. Still have not had any problem with the fuel system as I hear of so much, I have a spider assy in a box at work that looks pretty new just in case
Today plan to look at brakes ( on second set since I bought it ) and those bumper corners on the front are loose. Parking lot bandit got the right and dog got the left. If anyone has re-attached these before without buying new ones please let me know. Holes drilled and nylon zip ties are what I'm leaning towards.
