Attention all ricers...

Ok we all talk about ricers constantly, right. But nobody appears to be a ricer on AF. However when i look at the galleries i am sure there are many. This is not a rice bashing thread. Since im not biased I want to hear both sides of the story. So if ther are any ricers out there (and i know it is) post up and speak for your rep.

The thing is, beauty is in the eye of the beholder

people have different tastes (some really bad) so some people might have a ricey car and not even know it
They might think its not rice

Ok. I've been called a ricer. I drive an 86' toyota Corolla AE86 5speed SR5. I have cut the cat, added 2.25'' exhaust system with a big polished muffler and the flame job heat glaze blue and red. I also have a K&N filter, and custom made cold air piping system. Am I RICE!?

I drive a Civic, guess it could be rice to some people.. I swapped out for a type r engine and don't have any stickers or bodykits though, so to me it isn't.

Ok heres a contriversial question....

ok What if you carbonfiberd everything out,in,on your car are you a ricer?

Yes or No Explain please...

Me I say no because it is help the performance. Weight is the best thing in racing sry hp is ok but weight is better just depends on how much.

86_SR5
11-04-2004, 10:25 PM
It would depend on the car. Lets face it, a hb honda civic fully cf'ed would look funny, but then again, it'd be lighter than paper.

89tracerman
11-04-2004, 11:11 PM
I dont think CF is rice it helps the weight, but when you add stickers like i saw a "civic" that had "nismo" stickers then yes it would be rice or APC Anothe Piece of CRAP

Suislide
11-04-2004, 11:11 PM
um, no. a fully CF'd car would not be rice no matter what.

a ricer is the driver and the attitude he portrays. a fully CF car would cost so much money that you'd have to be hardcore in order to do it. i doubt a ricer would even be able to afford a fully CF'd car, since they do most of their "modification" shopping at Pep Boys or Canadian Tire or the like.

and Ricochet, you car is amazing. you need to lower it and get a nice front lip though. not a kit, just a lip. that would be so goddamn hot.

Ricochet

Thanks! I have a lip and civic type r spoiler painted but I haven't picked them up from the shop yet :)

I think Ricers should only be people who put emblem stickers on their cars that don't belong there, (stickers that lie about what they really have) Like I seen a Toyota celica with a Doch "VTEC" honda sign, now thats rice, Then I saw a Van (big one) with a Spoiler on top lol now thats rice, Then a saw a civic with a fart can now thats rice and I saw a accord with a Nissan GTR sign on it lol. I think ricers are basically liars, I know alot of people consider neon lights and body vinyl stickers on cars rice but,, I give them slack because I consider that show, So in my eyes ricers are ppl who lie about what they really have.... example I have a prelude SI (auto) now if I put a VTECH sing on the back making seem like a have the (Manual) Prelude SI "Vtec" that would be rice, because I'm making seem like my prelude SI 160 HP has 190 hp

Agree or no Agree???

well considering if you put a Vtech sticker on your car you would be saying you have a phone in your car because Vtech makes phones, so now if you wanted the motor option i think it would be Vtec....

And i hate when people always bash on car and call them rice, i got this one friend anything done to a car and its called rice, on the other hand if he saw a jacked up truck with euro lights he thinks its the coolest thing ever, im open minded to everything and anything done to a car as long as it isnt done ghettoly like ductape and shit like that, i myself consider my car custom but i have had it called rice before, here you decide.... :2cents:

Thanx for catching that error: As for your car is not considered rice in my eyes and I also hate people who bash on other people's cars but, I also hate people who try to make their car something is not, and when I do come across a person that has a riced up car I keep my opinion to myself, unless asked to give my opinion (it's there car i could care less on how it looks like, funny looking or not)

I completely understand where your coming from, i see cars around here all the time with badges on them that the car isnt, it bothers me to sometimes, and thats why i agree with u when u say people with the wrong badges are rice, and yes they are....but on the other hand if someone adds rims or a bodykit to their car, good for them its giving them their own boost of happiness because they have something different than other people and that i do not consider rice. You know lets say u got a bodykit and rims on a civic with nothing else done, what shoul u care what other people think, i just hate these guys with the cars all custom and no motor work and they think their hot shit but yet i can beat them with my 97 hp car because they weight so much....idk what to call that. :lol2:

Not quite right. Most of the Japanese kits are designed to help with airflow (to the engine/intercooler and with downforce) and are very very lightweight, usually weighing less than the original parts...

People want to know what rice is, well lets take a test.

CAR 1. A V6 Mustang with GT emblems, euro lights, duel exhaust with crome 6 inch tips, ground effects that make the car almost touch the ground, tinted windows that are very dark, racing gages all over his dash, a wing 3 feet off the car and 4 feet wide, spinner rims, neons inside and outside the car, and finally a bottle of NOS in the back for performance, the engine is stock with maybe a cold air kit and some high $$$ spark plugs, RICE?

CAR 2. A V6 Mustang with nothing on the outside, looks very plain, only thing noticable is the duel exhaust, under the hood he has, performance intake and heads, msd ignition system, twin turbo setup, after market 6-speed transmission, and finally the whole engine has been rebuilt and everything has been replaced with performance parts, RICE?

CAR 3. A V6 Mustang with a rather large wing, some flashy rims, and some ground effects, under the hood is performance heads and intake with a bottle of NOS to top it off, RICE?

I'll leave the choice on which one is rice up to you.

I saw a 99+ Grand Am 2 door with a full body kit, 3 foot wing that had a curve in the middle of it on purpose, clear corners, and the driver side door looked like as if a 6 years started hitting it with a hammer. As far as I could tell everything else was stock. I wanted to take a picture, but the owner was right there, so I didn't. Rice or not?

I think being a ricer has a lot to do with attitude. I mean if somone wants to add 3 foot wings and a million stickers, let them cause they may like it we dont have to drive it. It just pisses me off when they add that shit and start talking like there car is the fastest around. I admit i like to add some stupid little lights to my car, but i dont go around acting like my car is the shit, its just what i like.

I agree with the "rice is an attitude thing"

For example, paint jobs.

Observe:

You think, "vinyl graphics eww rice"

then:

It's more attitude than what's actually done to the car. Otherwise its just tacky.

I consider body kits rice. They don't help with performance, just looks.

Thats where your wrong, Where some kits dont help out at all with performance, most of them do. Why do you think they use kits in Le Mans, D1 (or any other drifting), JGTC. The one kit most people think doesnt help out at all is Veilside while in reality it is one of the most functional kit manufacturers today.

*edit, dammit tokky beat me to it! :p

I dont think CF is rice it helps the weight, but when you add stickers like i saw a "civic" that had "nismo" stickers then yes it would be rice or APC Anothe Piece of CRAP

I thought the same, untill visiting APC's booth at sema last week. APC actually only sells ridiculous things for publicity and money. Its kinda the same concept West coast customs does with pimp my ride.

For example, does this look like rice to you?

I think "rice" is just another slang term for people to bash other people's cars. Pretty stupid when it first came around, pretty stupid now, and frankly I am pretty sick of all these pointless arguments.
