See the thing with my brothers situation is that he has done his contractual obligation of 8 yrs with the army (He's 27 now). He was released from the military on Sept. 8th this year. Last week we got lots of threatening calls from a group that said he was involuntarily re-Enlisted to their unit and for him to report to them or they was going to let the MP's come and get him. He was at work at the time. Anyways to make a long story short, he is up there right now battling against them sending him because what they are doing is illegal.

So trust me, I understand that when ppl sign up for the military, theres a possibility of going to war, just don't do it illegally like they are doing my brother AND ALOT OF OTHERS, that are in the reserve now getting ready to get out.

I would go see a lawyer. I mean if hes done his time then he shouldn't serve...right?

They're doing that to everyone in the service now. They don't want to have too few people available, so they don't let people out. I saw a thing on the news about it a few months ago. So much for the claims of an "all volunteer army". It's all a bunch of crap. I know a Marine who just got shipped over to Samolia...wtf do we need to be in Samolia for? I mean not that I want him to go to Iraq; but if you're going to deploy someone, then put them some place useful so maybe someone who has been over there for months or a year can go home. Revolution anyone?

Wait we're still fuckin with Somalia? I tought they kicked our asses out?

CivicSpoon

Yeah I thought it was long over with too, but he was deployed about a month or 2 ago. And Bush said something about taking out troops out of other places where they're stationed now and sending them to Iraq and Afghanistan, that's what confused me the most. But it's the brother of my friend's roommate, so I'm positive that's where they sent him. It's messed up.

its called ready reserve...even though u do your time in the service you still have 4 years where they can pull u and activate you 4 whatever reasons they want...it sux but its the fine print of the contract u sign 4 the service....the people in somalia are basiclly killers...i know a couple ranger and delta force guys over there but their not allowed to say why

T-Mo
10-29-2004, 03:50 PM
Well Army31U there is fine print that definately gets looked over. It also says they can't involuntarily transfer you if you have less than 3 months left on you statutory and contractual obligation (8yr obligation)

SO GUESS WHAT FOLKS...........

MY BROTHER WILL BE COMING BACK HOME PARTIALLY BECAUSE OF THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said that they tried everything to keep him but he kept fighting it and won!! He should be back home sometime this week. :iceslolan

I got a kind of funny story(to me anyways). I just went and voted a minute ago (which way I voted doesn't matter to appreciate the story). But it was my first time so I had no clue what I was doing really. So I get done pulling all the tabs down and pull the curtain lever open and walk out (I forgot to pull the lever for the local government voteds though, oh well). I had no clue if I had to do anything after that or if I could just leave. So I went up to some lady who works there and asked her if I had to do anything or if I was done and could jsut leave. She was really nice and laughed and told me I could leave. So this random behind me says "well if you voted for Bush then there's a $20 fee, so it all depends on who you voted for." I just thought it was pretty funny...maybe it was one of those had to be there things. But it looks like it's going to be another couple days to find out who won, from all the problems already reported in some states *cough*Florida*cough*. Just get out and vote people.

I hope theres a tie and we end up with a president and vice president who didnt run together (witch is possable if there is a tie).

CivicSpoon
11-02-2004, 02:53 PM
That would be cool. But there'd never be a tie, both sides would contest it to no end...well there'd be an end but it wouldn't be good.

TheSilentChamber
11-02-2004, 03:34 PM
There has been a tie three times before, it could happen again. But your right it would be a layer feeding frenzy.

Have Bush as president, Kerry as vice,,,,,then they would slowly get to know one another, fall in love, legalize gay marriage and live happily ever after.

lol. I think he ment something like Bush as president and Edwards as vice.
But I thought if there was a tie, Congress voted on who wins the election.

yeah thats how it goes lol, and if it did happen then republicans would win bc theyre majority in the house. I think they are neways.

Unless something crazy weird happens...here at 12:26 Eastern time... Bush will win. It's all on Ohio for the electoral votes. Can't believe he's making the mark at 271 to win (all he needs is 270).

TheSilentChamber
11-03-2004, 03:30 AM
its 2:25 central time, and bush is at 269 electorial votes and they keep saying that hes won ohio becasue hes ahead by like 180,000 votes and theres only 200,000 absentee votes left to be counted so unless kerry has an insane 90+% of those votes he's not going to win. They showed the red (bush) blue (kerry) state map earlyer on NBC and it was like all bush except for the east and west cost lol.

mellowboy
11-03-2004, 07:27 AM
Damn! Bush got 254 and kerry 252! Way too close .....

C'mon Kerry please win!!! :(

TheSilentChamber

heh looks like four more years of bush.

CivicSpoon
11-03-2004, 01:59 PM
yep yep. And the republicans have the majority in the rest of the government as well, so he can get any thing passed he wants. And also I bet this is the end of Kerry's political life.

mellowboy
11-03-2004, 03:25 PM
No i dont think we heard last of Kerry. I'm sure hes goin to run again....

CivicSpoon
11-03-2004, 03:36 PM
I hope he doesn't run again, just think people will look at it in a negative way that he lost this time. Although the loser of one election has won the next time around, before. I'd rather see Edwards run personally, i think he's got more things on his side than Kerry. But if "The Terminator" runs then I'll vote for whom ever is running against him. Can't believe there is actual talk of changing the rules so he could run in a future election, what a joke. and I heard on the news last night that Hilary Clinton plans to run for the 2012 elections, might as well since she did as good job of running the country 5 years ago :grinno:

Kerry will not run for president in '08...more than likely Edwards will, and maybe Hillary but if Edwards runs in '08 and loses she will probably run in '12.

I know this doesn't pertain to this election (especially seeing as it's over, lol), but I thought I'd mention it with people mentioning the 08 elction on the last page. I thought maybe people would find it interesting. The current political talk on 08 a lot of the political stations (CBS also mentioned these names as well) is as follows:

They said the currently the most likely Republican front runners for the 08 GOP Presidential nomination are Senator John McCain, AZ., Former New York Mayor Rudolph Guliani and maybe Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Tenn.

They said the most likely front runners for the 08 Democratic Presidential nomination currently are New York Senator Hillary Clinton and North Carolina Senator John Edwards.

On a side note, since someone mentioned they thought Kerry's Political life was over. Kerry did not give up his Senate seat, as Bob Dole did when he ran against Clinton in 96. Kerry now returns to the Senate as a Senator repersenting the State of Mass.

John Edwards Senate term was up this year, and he chose not to run for re-election but to run for the Presidency and then accept Kerry's Nomination for him as Vice President. He will not be part of the United Staes Senate once the new Senate takes office in January. Likely he would have to wait 2 years to run for election into the US Senate or House (much the same as S.D. Senator Tom Daschle will have to do, but for a differet reason: he lost his re-election campagin, the first senate leader to loss a re-ecltion campagin in 52 years).

Anyways I just thought people might find these political tidbits interesting.
