Hey whats goin on.My name is Tanner im a new member on this forum.I am a mechanic in the state of Oklahoma. The fellas around the shop nic-named me hotrod, and i work for chevy, hence the name.I do everything from major engine overhauls and vehicle restorations,to arguing with the diagnostic machine all day over a 50 cent piece of hose.I never know what will pull in the parking lot next.I have owned three trans ams,and one Camero. They all made me proud.I guess thats about it.I hate dodges and fords and anything that was not made in the United States or Canada. But i always seem to find myself under the hood or belly of some mistake ford or dodge made.It feels real good to drive my Chevrolet powerd Pontiac home after a long day of wrench twisting.I hate the low-riding cars with neon lights, and those blinding altezza headlights, and i hate those big wings on the back of ricers.I enjoy my big bubble tires cause i can hop a curb at 30mph,and not damage anything or spill my morning cup of coffee.Lets see some 50 series tire do that!

Welcome Tanner/Hot Rod, Glad to have another gear head like myself and I was wondering why a Pontiac guy was called calling himself chevy even though pontiac drivetrains today usually come from other branches, but now it makes sence. Hope you enjoy it here and get us some pics of that 82 custom T/A I have heard about

IT FUNKIN LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually went to see my car today, removed the air cleaner tapped on the bowls and pump the gas several times cranked the key and BINGO!!!!!!!!!! IGNITION BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes quite surprised its been sitting for months has 20w50 flowing through the crankcase not good for winter but nevertheless oil pressure came right up 65psi :gives: i know but I do.
So saturday is my day to winterize the chicken.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/25420969Firebird_5_-med.jpg
looking like the Strip will see me again soon.
Anyone know a good carb shop, this one had better performance and not like BG wants to sell me the parts. my other problem, NO FLOW BENCH in the garage. Although i would like one. If anyone knows who makes or sells those would be sweet too. If not plans to build one could be key as well. If you cant buy it BUILD IT! well not much else to say. I will have a good thanksgiving once i am done with the tune up, winterizing and new leafs.

Well i hope you all had a good thanksgiving and mine will be better after saturday. L8R all.

I so looked forward to the day :naughty: John.
That will mean you will go out and buy a classic firebird.
Just remember these Immortal words:
" There is no replacement for displacement"
These words will ring through your head.
But thats enough trash talk, I am just thrilled it started and still has amazing oil pressure. now is not time to race. now is time to fine tune.

I don't need my right hand to kick your ass! but I'll let you win this time. :) I only said I missed everyone because I didn't want anyone else to get jealous, me being so popular and all. And I did get a hand job and I just don't understand what all the guys are raving about. It was actually quite painful. hmmm. must be a guy thing. lol

Hey...looked like this was the place to introduce myself. I'm Nick, currently stationed in NC.
Drive a 98 V6 auto (I know...I know), metallic green/yellow (can't figure it out myself) with 44k miles on it. Mods on it:
Shift kit
K&N filter

Pretty sparse? Planned mods:
Supercharger (trying to find a wrecked GTP for the swap)
Exhaust
Computer
Intake upgrade? (Can't find a cold-air to fit the 98+ 3800 set up, the intake is in the middle-front rather than on the side)

(Not necessarily in that order...)
I'll get a picture up soon

Hi, my name is Kat. I am new to forums so be gentle :) I am 30 and soon to be a full time college student...amen for financial aid! My baby is an 85 Trans Am with t-tops and an MFI 350 V8. I have owned her for about 18 months and have mostly done cosmetic modifications, like a new headliner and louvers (the engine doesn't need to be any faster or I'll be replacing tires far too often). My favorite mod, and the hardest, was the remote door poppers. They are just cool. My husband drives an 86 TA with a 305 V8 that we are planning to sell at some point. I will post some pics of my baby soon. This seems like a nice group of people!

Howdy all. I'm Oz, proud owner of an '86 T/A. Long ago replaced the anemic 305, so now runs a mild SBC, Edelbrock intake/carb, Hedman pipes. Like I said, relatively mild. 700r4 BTW.
Currently stationed at Ft Knox (Used to jump at Ft Bragg, NC KSnake999, is that where you are?).
Hope we can all share are fun and experiences together. Thanks for the invite! Oz
p.s. too bad I didn't join this forum when living near Dallas, huh? ;-)

Hey all,
I just joined yesterday, had some questions about my baby (see my thread) and this site seems pretty cool so I think i'll spend a lot of my free time here. Lord knows I have a lot of it... Im 21 and Im currently sitting in Bagdahd, Iraq for the army. I'll be home to Minnesota in about october, when I will finish my Firebird, and buy a house. Contrary to popular belief... I dont do anything in Iraq but sit around.. I'm actually at my job right now... sitting... hah. Anyway I pretty much like doin what everyone here does... work on and ride my toys... got the 79 firebird esprit, 01 Harley Sportster, and a 97 Saturn SC1 for the winter car (pretty decent car too.. gots a 5 speed) Oh almost forgot... my names Dan

hi, im new here and i dont know how to navigate and stuff through this web site, but if anyone's out there.
ive a 1989 firebird formula with power windows and locks.
i think i have to replace the drivers side motor.
my question is: (since ive never done one before)
does the entire regulator and motor have to come out in oder to replace just the motor ?
or, can i just grind the rivets that seem to attach or hold the motor in place and that would free it?
id appdreciate ANY help.
Thanx, Pete

FormulaLT1
02-03-2005, 07:09 PM
You can grind the rivets and then replace then with bolts on reinstal. Also welcome to the Forum but please start a thread when you have questions, I relize your new so no biggie. This though is for introductions only.
