My name is Andy, I'm 36 years old, and I own a 1977 Firebird that I just picked up a couple of months ago. I plan on making it into a drag car for bracket racing. Currently powered by a 305 2BBL. That will be going away hopfully soon. :puke:

I also own a 1997 Grand Prix GTP which I used for brackets this past year.

Screamin_Chicken74
10-22-2004, 12:54 AM
You sure Andy? If the car is in any decent condition the price on pontiacs are going up this year faster than they ever have. And depending on what you got, Ie WS6, W82, 4 spd : your car could be worth alot in the next 3-5 years.
As far as making it a drag car be careful its not a full frame car, you will definaely need subframe connectors and I dont know if those would even hold up to alot of abuse.

10-22-2004, 06:09 AM

It's just a plain jane 77 Firebird with a 305 2BBL in it. I'm not planning on going nuts with performance. I run the Saturday brackets at the local track and plan on making it a low 13 / high 12 second car. I want to stay in street class which is limited to 12.000 or slower. 11.999 and you are done for the night.

I have some friends that park next to me in the pits who have a 78 T/A and I plan to pick their brains for tips on what do do with mine.

I don't want to run brackets with my GTP any more. Maybe just a once-in-a-while trip to the track with the GTP.

This is the only pic I have right now. I need to take more, because of the wheel change, and plan to, IF IT EVER STOPS RAINING!!! I've put less than 100 miles on it this year, since it rains every day I have a chance to get out.
