God damn motherhumping hairy bastards that they are. A few days ago I was on my way to work - sunroof and windows open. Suddenly these hairy bloody legs come crawling out of the enginebay and a huge bloody huntsman decides to crawl up my windshield. Trying desperately not to scream like a girl I repeatedly press all the power controls to close the roof and windows. The bastard having had his fun then runs back under the bonnet.

Fast forward to today. I get the hose and hammer the engine bay, hoping to drown the sucker. Nothing. Hmmm...

Hose out the wheel arches... nothing. Oh well, maybe he'd had his fun and had picked on someone else to terrorise. I go to the boot to get out some work papers, pop it open and... the f*cker is staring at me from the spot between hatch and the seal. He looks at me, I look at him and start gibbering like a lunatic. After a few seconds he casually lifts a leg (spider equivalent of flipping the bird I guess). I slam the boot as hard as I can to squash him and... the bastard runs down the side of the car and sits there staring at me.

Ok - bolt to get the hose... I get back... nothing. Shit. Hose the weel arches, under the car around the doors etc... gone.

Fine. Better put some fuel in... off to the servo, pop the fuel hatch... you guessed it.... F*CK!!!!! Run around to the driver's side to get the paper to flick him off there... gone. Meanwhile the other ppl at the servo are looking at me like I'm a lunatic.

2 bottles of mortein surface spray later and my car is choking on the fumes... but I still can't see the bastard. I swear that it's purpose in life is to leave me in a cold sweat.

Now most spiders I see I don't mind. Redbacks, funnelwebs other dangerous spiders.. I see them and either just walk around them or stomp them. Huntsmen are harmless but they're big, hairy and just know you're in fear of them. Hell, I've once had one charge at me. I dunno what it is. No other phobias except this one... and damn do the bastards make the most of it  BTW - this one was about 4 inches across... but I swear he was larger. Nasty evil f*cker that he is

I didn't know what a huntsman was til i read the 5th paragraph where you mentioned mortein.
While i was reading the first two paragraphs i imagined some hunter man with hairy legs crawling out of your bonnet :p and you're trying to close the electric windows while he tries to get in ;)

Here's a pic of one. The fucker's are best known for hanging out under your dashboard or on your sun visors, waiting for you to flip them down. :D

Ahhh, thats looks so cute! :flash:

How could you possibly want to harm it!
It clearly has a good taste in cars.

I currently have two large spiders living in my car. One in each mirror. (Eric has seen them) They come out to kix thier webs up at night, and hide behind the mirrors waiting for flies etc during the day.

The city turbo is infested with little spiders....hopefully the bug bombed killed a lot of them

Update: Spider: 4, me: 1

Washed the car. Just as I go to dry it the sucker decides to waltz along the bonnet (damn he gets around). I jump, but unfortunately for him, the hose is right next to me. Insy-winsy gets a couple of PSI of water blasting him off the car. Unfortunately these suckers are tough and he just heads off into the bush next to my car hissing (yes they do hiss... I could hear him as I finished drying the car).

Stay tuned for more adventures :D

They also take forever to die, if you spray them with bug spray....we used to have a big pine tree at our house in Wollongong....and they were everywhere....You'd be spraying it for a few minutes and still it would be crawling around for a while!

lol - I know I said it. Actually, it's not too bad, but the body rolls too much when cornering. I have to get off my butt and get a 22mm CRX rear bar to see if that stiffens it up first.

I'm just jealous that your car looks to handle so nicely :sun:

I found that with my civic also... was really bad on corners, used to spin out...but then I believe the car had been hit on a corner, by the original owner so that's why, and then got rear ended too.

:D Does handle pretty well on those corners....

Too bad I have no traction in the wet. Bloody base model Falkens....thinking of getting Azenis next time, or something decent. Slight bit of water, and the car screeches to try and get traction, not until 3rd gear usually

I get that with the Firestones I have on. First time I haven't had Yokohamas on a car in 6 years - they wern't available in the size I needed and rego was due. I'm going to tear the Firestones up as much as possible and then drop a set of Yokies on. I dunno - they just feel so much better and don't break traction as badly as other tires.

I suppose the good thing about them is the last long. As you've probably seen plenty of threads about them in the performance forums.

With my civic didn't have much luck with the size. could only get crap tires. Had Nankangs on them for years, and they are really bad in the wet, and flat spot a lot. Had falkens a couple times and they were much better. Other than that, could only get crappy stuff.

P.S Did Tx2, and I look like what you expected?

Deb, wouldn't be a very popular asian "australian" name though. More likely to get names such as Michelle. Don't ask me how many Michelle Wongs there are?

It's pronounced like Gwen but with a Q by the way :p

I still laugh at how many people have problems saying it. I used to be called Ms La, by one teacher who just couldn't get it. One of the security guards here calls me Quarn....i just ignore him though. He's probably only gotten it right once out of the last 2 years

You've never seen a cat when it's had water thrown on it? Hisses and spits alright. I led a very twisted childhood - actually, it was prolly quite normal come to think of it. I remember a friend's cat - it hated a particular corner in his house, would hiss and bolt away from it as fast as it could. Hell, if you (gently) threw it into the corner then it's feet wouldn't touch the ground as it sprung away off thin air.

We, of course, tossed it into the corner on more than a few occasions :evillaugh

Now where's my glass of water?
