www.ebay.com

Mine was shorted when because of a poor design. The LED wires ran too close to the headlight housing, so the skin of the wires got melted, and shorted.

Sonar (the company that makes and sells "Gen 3") Projectors are NOTORIOUS for frying the lights, low beams, and leds. It's due to poor design and, as Silverbolt mention, poor wiring and a ad design in how they were ran.

Denji don't seem to have quiet the problems Sonar (Gen 3) has. If you by "Angel Eyes," stay away from Sonar, their Angel Eyes are just liek thier taillights, crap.

As I said, I know Denji tends to be decent, I don't know about other companies and were they stand, though the 2 above tend to be the 2 most commen.

anyways, www.matrixracing.com has a bit selection of headlights, projectors, angel eyes, talilights, etc.

Prices vary depending on what it is, etc.

I must have been really lucky with mine because I've never had any problems except for a little condensation after a car wash or something, then it went right away..

They are for sale btw, somebody pm me if you want them.

And I remember your little "take the rubber cap" off trick that helped with that, lol.

Might I inquire what brand yours were/are...if you have any clue? I've heard of a one of the LEDS of Denji being weaker than the others, or the projecots kinda looking like there's a crack down the middle (though it doesn't hurt anything), but I've never heard of the problems like with Sonar. I always here bad feedback on sonar, taillights, headlights...they all suck.

It's funny though, I know some cases where like you, they never really hd problems with them, an others where everything seems to go wrong. Thats why I was curious to your brand. I know many of the "bad ones" in the past were Sonar, and I was curious to see what your were.

They're gen3's. I had a problem with light output but I didn't know how to adjust the bulbs. I aimed them up higher and they looked good and actually lit up the road. I painted and switched back to the stockies for the sole reason of doing a free mod.. :)

I remember when you asked about how to aim those, lol. I remember that...ye, it's amazing the difference aiming high makes.

Did you use your high beams ever? I know the low beam blowing out and not working/never working again tends to be connected to using the high beams (with gen 3's).

If you didn't use high beams, that could be the reason then...either that or you really did luck out and get a decent pair of gen 3's (Gas, who would have thought!!!)

I would use them just as often as anybody else, like driving through unknown roads and stuff.. I had a wiring problem in the back of the lowbeams where the fuse kept blowing but that was my dumbass mistake.. I pinched two connectors veeery close together while trying to align the bulb by hand (hahaha), but bent them back and aligned the headlights properly.

Well darn, it seems you did get a decent pair of gen 3's. Stranger things have happened, but this is definatly way up there, lol.

3. Edison discovers lightbulbs

I actually have Denji headlights. I was so disapointed when they got fried... but I'm over it. The main reason I bought them was so I can have HID and projector combo. I love how HIDs look behind a projector lens... like the S2000

Hmm, I've never heard of Denji's frying...wait, I remember the older ones like 4-5 years ago, the first ones they made, had issues with this. The last few years they fixed it for the most part. I am not saying that denji' can't fry now, anything aftermarket will have less QC than an OEM product, it's a given. I d know now that for the most part, Denji's will fry much less than Gen 3 (sonar).

Of course, I've always believed that using the high beams on the projectors tends to fry them quicker. I hardly ever use my high beams if I can aviod it, maybe that why the Denji's I've had have laated so long. The first pair I ever had was some company, Innovative Performance, when they FIRST came out. Those fried quick, but I am sure it's cuz I used high beams when I could to see better. Since I got the Denji's and only use high beams as a last resort, I didn't have that issue. I don' know.

You had real HID's with them? I run PIAA Super Plasma lights with mine, it gives out an insane amount of light versus a standard bulb, an looks like real HID headlights. I've pulled behind people I know at night, turned my lights on, and they always tell me they thought to themselves, "wholly sh*t, I didn't know he had HIDS."

Your right though, that does give them a very slick look. Maybe running HIDs in the small aftermarket housing caused it to fry? Then again, it probably just has to do with cheap aftermarket wiring. Even the "best" aftermarket companies have issues at times (not sayign denji is one of the best, they are not, lol). I know of a case where TYC taillights fit WORSE than Sonar Gen 3 tails...now that was strange.

Oh... I dont think I was clear. They fried while using normal H3 bulbs. But my point was that it didnt matter to me since the purpose behind buying those headlights were just for the projectors to install HIDs... which btw, I still havent gotten around to doing yet.

Well darn...that really blows. What can I say, most aftermarket companies stink when comparing them to OEM qaulity, although it still pisses you off when they blow.

My first pair of angel eyes (performace innovation was the name) blew out in 12 HOURS!!!!

They blew out the low beams after only maybe 3 hours of use and 12 hours after they where installed. No light even came out of the low beams again, even with new bulbs, they were fried. Also, it was using regular bulbs. I do know I had been using my high beams for a chunk of the time (1 hour total max the whole time) I was had them. I was doing some driving down dark windy back roads to a friends house and needed the highs for extra lighting. I always figured that they blew because I used the high beams like you regularly would use them. Most of the time I hear of a blow out where the lows are fried, I notice the person uses highs like they regularly would.

With my Denji's, I have almost never used high beam, I mean, it has to be less than a combined 5 minutes of total usage over a period of over 2 1/2 years (I am not kidding!!!)

I've never had a problem though, and they never have fried. I figure it's because I never use highs (ever). Those housing are very small, and the wiring is alway having to be run very close to the 2 light chambers in each light housing. I figure the extra heat of high beam bulbs AND low beam bulbs running in those dinky projecotr housing in the SAME headlight housing create too much heat, and it fries the internal wiring as a result, which fries the low beams you hear of being fired so often with projeotors.

The one other person who has followed my "never use you high beams if you have projectors, pretend they do not exist" theory also has never had them fry. I always say if you need the high beams for extra light sometimes, buy a good set of fog lights or driving lights. I good set of PIAA fog/driving lights or Sylvania silverstar Xenarc HID driving lights will provide more than enough light (more than High beam, lol). Since they arn't part of the headlight housing, they arn't heating it up further and too much, which seems to cause a great number fried projectors (though by no means is this the only cause of all of fired projectors. I am also not saying this was or had to be the only the case of your fried lights, it very well may have nothing to do with it, though I thought I'd point it out so the info is out their for ppl to take or leave).
