Thanks for the reply's
As the body is still in the primer phase, i have begun working on the engine.
ps. I'm very sorry of the blurry pics but my cam is again bugging me :banghead: .

It is still OOB but i'm now bussy doing the plumbing and making the air intake :naughty:
I also made a scratchbuild grill and kitbashed the bmw 320I further by using it's rear light
as front light for the golf :evillol: .The grill needs further cutting as do the lights.
But here is the overall idea.

interesting idea with the new grille and headlights - som kind of jetta or rallye front, right?

Nice engine! So those are rallye lights?!? Are you going to cut hood exstension off?
dread_darven

I don't know those rallye lights? (maybe a pic of those lights ?) but the front grill will be the corrado grill.
But as i'm currently on vacation @ Campzone http://en.campzone.nl/ , i do not have any progress until around 2 august.

*UPDATE*
After a 2 weeks vacation, a new job and some relaxation time.
I finaly took the golf out of my hobby room and sprayed it :iceslolan .
The results are not that good imo (with some orange peel here and there) but i will be polishing it so that will give some better results i think :eek7: .

i also chopped the interior to bits cause it will need another transmission housing and the rear seats will be replaced by some subs.
More on this within a few days. Then the engine will also be wired and hopefully the sparco seats will be finished :naughty:
Comments are welcome.

your putty work is AMAZING! ive done some work on car stereos and stuff like that and putty or bondo is super hard to work with, even when its two or three people working together, because with the mixing and getting what u mixed on the car before it turns, is really hard without making a mess but... your work looks awsome keep up the good work

Thanks for the possitive feedback.
As i am waiting for the paint to fully cure i made some nice shots. I also test fitted the new rims i bought. They are bbs rg rims from Aoshima.
I am still not sure which rims to use....

Today i tried to polish the body using 2000 gritt paper and polish compound.
But as i did it using the method explained in the faq on AF i got some white spots caused by dust in the paint :banghead: . But it didn't stop me from polishing it anyway because it had a great shine and reflection.
When i was polishing more of the body, more white spots appeared :disappoin .
In the end i was totally dissapointed with the results as caused by the dust in the paint :cya: .
So i now have to repaint the body all over again, and i will be using a mettalic blue paint and some clear coats. I have done the primer coat and tommorow the paint will be sprayed on which i will show here.

I abondened the model building for a while now, basicly because of the paint that was a total disaster. It now still sits in my hobby room with the primer on it :(
And because i have another time sucking hobby now, i didn't have much time to take it up again. Anyway, i will continue this one when i find some good amount of spare free time on my hand.
Btw, my new hobby is actualy also modelling, but then in 3D. Here is a screen of what i am doing now ;) , i am planning on making the same Rieger Gto bodykit on the 3d one :p
It's a wip

Finally i'm bringing this topic back from the dead...
Recently i started again with modeling after 5 years of doing other stuff :P.
I now got my own place together with my girlfriend and i got enough room here to build a paint booth and have a nice desk for the hobby :D .
The last few weeks i been bussy with another car model just to get things going again, and now i picked up the Golf to go crazy on it.
There is a slight change of plans as to how they where 5 years ago, i have more experience and knowledge of engines and other car related stuff now so the 4 cylinder BMW M12 engine is not going to be used in this project.
It is the engine used in the BMW 320I Gr. 5 car and if you want to have one irl it would cost around 25000 dollars just for the engine...... so not very realistic to use that. Instead (and it still isnt very realistic but alot more cost wise than the BMW) i will be using a Nissan VG30DETT (from the Nissan Fairlady 300ZX twinturbo).
I am bussy making pics now so they will be uploaded soon.
