There is one problem i bumped into trying to fit the bumper.
This piece:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~brendel2/darc/Golf%20wide%20body/Probs/What%20fb.jpg
Is it a good thing to cut it away or leave it there.
Cause when i cut it away the bumper is also going to be extended like this.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~brendel2/darc/Golf%20wide%20body/Probs/solve1.jpg
What do you guys (especialy those who have built this model already) think i should do to give it a good look on the front?

I would fix the bumper on the body before chassis assembly and cut the chassis that you can insert it

Finaly i made some progress that gives this car a real rieger look :naughty: .
As i sayd, i would make the sideskirts next so i did that.
Along the way of making them i realised that the bottem of the panels are to rounded in comparison with the Rieger gto.
So i redid those again with a wider look on the lower part and it looks great IMO :smokin:

So i would like to share them with you as eye candy, or if someone else is thinking about also making a widebody golf.

OK, its B-E-A- uuuutiful , umm about ur front bumer i have a suggestions wut if you glue it to the body, and then putty it up by the wheel whell and blend it with ur fender and then ad a small gill each side and then make up a grill for it , cut out a space in the fender and make a billit grill for it and do the same thing between ur lights as well it would take the stock look out of the face of the car and make it look coller and more custom, but its ur car do wut u like, i like it so far its comin together greati like ur shapin skills with the file on the putty. keep up the great work .

That's exactly how i was planning to do it :bigthumb: thanks, but i'm not entirely sure about the grill tho.
It does indeed need a grill like thing on the sides of the bumper but i don't have any clue about how to make it :banghead: . Does any one have a suggestion about the grill? :1zhelp: .

Now the body is nearing its finish :) still some detailing to do, like the edge running allong the middle of the door together with some other things.
But the large body shapes are done

Well, if i win the lotery then then...... :p pheaton's are beautifull but they are so damned expensive, just give me a corrado vr6 and /me is happy :lol2:

[ONTOPIC] I am realy stuck on something.
As i said i would like the 320i racing engine in the golf but there is a problem.
The problem is....realism, cause this engine has air horns which in real life can't be mixed with to much dust :grinno: . So it is unrealistic to fit this engine in the car in real life cause it isn't going to be a race car.
So if i would go with this engine i must make somekind of airfilter to keep up with realism which is do-able.
On the other hand i can make a golf gti 16V engine with some mods like a turbo and a different intake, and i have some realy good reference pictures for both the engine and the mods i will be making for it.

So i'm stuck on this question and would like to have some oppinions about which to choose.
Maybe you guys could give me some tips or reference pics of making a good air filter for the airhorns if you say " go for the 320i engine" :dunno: .
Well i hope you guys could give some input on this one :1zhelp:

Dread, I sure I understand your definition of: Hotrod Golf. I may be missing something...

(sry for the double post) what i meant is to give the golf a hotrod look ,very wide very bold fender flares and maybe a chopped top :dunno: . Most hot-rods are made from 30s-50s american automobiles or the beetle but to give a hot rod style to the golf has never been done (not to my knowledge) and will surely be unique :naughty: , maybe ugly but it can be tried :evillol:

I say go for the 320i motor and for your intake problem...Revell makes a tuner car called the Acura Integra Type R. It also has a four-cylinder engine. I'd suggest stealing the intake assembly from it. It's one piece intake, intake tube, and cone filter and would fit perfectly in the golf. Good luck on your car.

Thanks for the reply's.
The engine is going to be the 320i engine with rear wheel drive.
I am not totaly sure what i am going to do with the airfilter.
I could go for an air duct in the grill or i could make a "normal" airfiler, i am trying different things, i am also looking into the acura kit 86_SR5 pointed out to me :bigthumb: . I will keep you posted on this one.

When surfing the net i also stumbled on a great reference site for the engine, this will also come in handy http://www.davidmcintyre.org/rebuild-no.html

So it will have 4 carbutetors?!?

No, the 320i has a single point injection system so there are no carbs.
The first pic shown is an older bmw engine which has 2 carberators but the only thing that i meant with this pic are the air filters which i could use on the air horns.

Finally the body is realy near the finish line :naughty: .
The hood is finished and it now has a hoodlip and is smoothed out and the front bumper is
intergrated in to the body.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~brendel2/darc/Golf%20wide%20body/Stage6/DSC00012.JPG

I sanded the body with a finer grit and did a little puttying at the front to get rid of some holes.
Offcourse this is only the beginning of this but i can say that i am realy happy with the overall body shape. :iceslolan

okay okay i will not go for the lowrider look :grinno: , as it indeed does look silly with this bodykit.
The wheel wells where mainly dremeled out to get a more accurate look. The benefit of this is that the wheels can go deeper in the body but it was not the original intention for this.

But as for the masklip vwman proposed; the hood extension is already there and it does look beter than such a mask lip IMO. I have seen this mask lip to many times on Golf's and Corrado's. It looks good but it is not very original. As for a hood extension however, that you don't see that much cause it is more expensive in real life :naughty: .
