even though that car came out br the enzo was put in production, its now considered the "enzo" look and the enzo got its look for downforce mainly from F1 cars, so then should we call it teh F1 look? It resembles a enzo but doesnt mean that it took its "look". That celica was one of the concept celicas produced earlier on b4 the enzo, since toyota does F1 racing as well, they might've taken it from the F1 racing look as well,

Hmmmm
The plan was to go SAS with the body and flare the arches for the wider wheel base but I do like the front end of that concept celica, hmmmm I am going to have to have a think on that one.....
Thanks you all for the feed back and ideas to date

Hmm. ok decision made.
I am going to stay with the SAS kit for 3 reasons.
1. I already have it here waiting to go on :p
2. I want the Celica to remain as subtle as a V12 Celica can :screwy:
3. I think I prefer the SAS to the F1 style
Thanks for bringing it to my attention though, I think it will get built in the future but with a standard front engine config.

I have to ask a favour of anyone watching this project, I am after some nice open 19" rims to go on it as I only have a selection of 17" rims at the moment.
Does anyone have any they could sell or swap me??
(I have posted in classifieds but hope someone interested in this car can help me out)
Cheers

Crazy! You've turned a boring car into a beast!
Superb job fabbing up the rear half(body and chassis!)
I like the seatbelts/interior detailing too.
Dude, how fast would this Celica be with the V12? It weighs what, 2500lbs?
Decided on the wheels yet?

I think with the rear end space framed you would be looking at under 2000Kg so quite a bit of fun :naughty:
I have some 19" rim on route to me as we speak so once I have these I can start fabricating the arch extensions and side body sculpting.
I have fitted the SAS kit and it looks the buisness but I think I am going to fill the panel gaps to give it a super smooth look, not sure yet.
I will post more progress once the arches are in progress.
Again, thanks for all the word of support, it really helps keep me going.
Cheers

OK guys I need your opinions 17"(top pic) or 19"(bottom pic) rims, I have started the rear arches but they are only VERY rough at the moment and the fronts still need to come out.
My main concern is that on 19" rims it sits very high and I will have to lengthen the side skirts to get a better looking ride hight, opinions please!!!!!http://hometown.aol.co.uk/Lotusmark2/opinion1.JPG

they look sexy and so cute the way they are. is it just on the floor? or are the wheels on the chassis? either what it looks fine. Keep it up

the wheels are just mocked up on the floor at the moment, I think it looks odd at the back but if I cut the arch higher and move the rear wheel up into the body more it should look better, what do you think??

I'd say 17. But that's just my performance oriented opinion.

But even in 17", the rear seats too high and the wheel arches beg for higher position...
Anyway, the work is stuning!

Your car is really turning out well. My advice is, just like the rest said, the 17". Not only because of the body, but also because they suit the car better. And as you said, you need to lower the back a little, even with the 17"ers.
lotusmark2
05-31-2004, 02:24 PM
Ok I have cut the arch back I think the hight is looking better even as shown with the 19". Once we have got it looking right I will construct the arches with more care.

I'm very curious how the 17" look now. Or does the body hit the ground when you use 17"???
labandabonnot
05-31-2004, 02:59 PM
18" would be perfect! :evillol:
The sit of the car is good now: nice job!
... If you really like the 19" rims, use them! They don't really look efficient, but tastes cannot be disscused!
If I had to choose between a F50 and this car, I'd take this one: it's looking far better, even with unfinished rear wheel arches! :iceslolan

yeah the rear flares are no where near finished at the moment, they are just fabed up for ride height at the moment.

Thanx for the pictures. It is a wise decision to go with the 17". The body just looks a bit more balanced with these. I haven't seen any pictures of the back. Do you have to work on it still? Is it standard or cutomized a bit?

I have fitted SAS front and rear but the rear still needs a hell of a lot of work so I will post some pics once its a bit further along.
I have now fitted the wheels with nice SAS discs
Arches are gonna take some time so I will post some more pics as soon as I have made progress (not gonna rush this bit)

The rear is evolving, the arches are cut back at the bottom and they now wrap around to meet the rear. The small oval area at the rear/ bottom (between the two white areas) will be removed and mesh metal will replace it.
