I'm talking cold, hard facts, I race at the local track, it's only 5 miles from my house. I've seen plenty of Maxima's. Your 260 Maxima is a 15 second car, at the track, on the road, whatever. My SS and the LS1 F Bodys are mid to low 13 second cars.
there's a HUGE difference. Same weight, 70-90 more HP. How could you possible think you can beat that?

Let me put it this way? Do you think you could beat an LS1 Corvette? They run almost identical times to the LS1 F bodies?

While I do agree they are under-rated they actually put out somewhere around 320-325 if you look at Dyno numbers and calculate for drivetrain lose. Not to mention the Vette has less drag and weighs less but yes you should be able to kill a Maxima. Also the average LS1 owner usually get Mid - High 13's at the track which is very impressive none the less

I agree to a point, but there are quite a few LS1 Fbodys that run stock to near stock mid 13's and faster. My SS running 13.1 is a good example. And that's with poor traction stock tires. A set of drag radials would probably let me crack a 12.95.

my car left, my buddys car right, i can accept both cars for what they are, but to say a stock maxima will come close to a LT1 is a joke, it has to be, my buddys car has full bolts on (SE-R spec V 6 spd) and it nots even a race btw him and I, and his car has 175 hp stock, maximas have 190, he has many mods and is lighter (BTW he ran a 15.6 @ 86 w/ 2.3 60', my best stock was [email protected] w/ 2.25 60')

Are there factory freaks out there yes but there also plenty of your average car. and it may be possible they put 340 but then they are losing alot through the drivetrain anything over 12 percent for a manual is a disgrace

I've given you proof, the SS/WS6 in 2001-2002 IS factory listed at 325 HP, the SAME LS1 in the Firehawk is listed at 345 HP.

the manuals are slower than the auto at the track due to being harder to launch, they usually are off by 2 tenths on the ET but show a 2 MPH higher trap speed.

To a point, no not really. They dyno fairly close to the LS1 f-bodies and trap a little bit higher due to drivetrain differences, aero and traction.

Corvette is GM's baby. Even in 1979 and 1989 when Pontiac had trans-ams that were faster than it in every road test, the corvette STILL had more horsepower, yet weighed less and was slower. Hrm....wonder why?

You guys and your mag racing times...christ. It's the power curve that matters, not peak TQ/HP. There're plenty of 4th gen Maximas running 14.7 stock and 14.1 with bolt ons and those are real world numbers proven time and time again by maxima.org members.

Any Maxima driver who claims to have beaten a LS1 would have to show me pics of a sick turbo and nitrous setup because that's what it takes to beat them in a straight line. I know of four (4) Maximas that can do the 1/4 in under 13s and they're all boosted.

It's called power to weight ration. Both cars dyno at relatively the same HP at the rear wheels. It's lighter than an f-body. Power to weight. Did you not pay attention in that class or something? What's going to go faster in the 1/4? A 3000lb car with 330 RWHP or a 3500lb car with 330 3RWHP? Gee. Let me think.

Hence why vette = quicker than f body but still has the same motor with the same ACTUAL hp.

The Vette is not much lighter.

The IRS on the Vette is harder to launch properly than a solid axle too.

funny, my car has 95k on it...interior isnt falling apart...no new alternator...only thing that died are the A/C cause i never used it so the seals dried out (my fault) and the optispark was replaced before I got it (only poorly engineered thing on LT1s)

19 mpg and V8 sound & power, cost 6 grand, not seeing a downside here

F-Body = 3550 lbs

Fact, 100 lbs is roughly the equivelent of 1/10th in the quarter mile. Not nearly a good enough advantage for the average Maxima to take the average LS1 at any track given equal drivers.

Evan Smith ran a STOCK 1999 Z28 (and by stock, I mean straight from the showroom to the track, NOTHING changed) to a 12.89 in the quarter.
He also ran a STOCK (that would be showroom stock, again) 2002 CE Trans Am and netted a 13.13 in the quarter. Both of these cars were manuals. Evan is probably one of the best manual drivers in the country, but it blows your "best one a stock can do" theory out of the water.
