for lack of anything better to ask.

Id say assume your Bill Gates... but then why would you still have a 240 and not a Skyline GTR. whatever you get the idea

id like to have about a 350rwhp KA-24DET with a t3/t4, log style manifold, spearco intercooler, race cams, and some more valvetrain goodies.

i was thinkin of doing a ca18det, but after some research i think i'd rather go with the sr20det. i'm not really into the rb thing. i'd never put a v8 n my 240 and for the tons of cash for the 2jz, i'd just do an rb.

just a friendly reminder from your moderator.

those who vote for "LS6" will be hunted down and banned.

that is all.

nah i'm just kidding. seriousley, it's been a while since we've had a thread like this. i'll have to go with SR, since that's what i've always planned on since day one. if money were no object, then the choise is obvious.

Definately KA24DET!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna have to go with the SR because that's what I've always loved and that's what I've been taught to love (by my brother).

I'm probly doing a CA since it's so uncommon and I think it's a very great engine for it's very low cost, but maybe SR since there is so much more aftermarket support and it so much easier to find one.

If money was no option I would definitely go with RB26DETT since:
A.) I love the sound of an i6...especially compared to a dinky (sounding) i4
B.) The power to weight ratio would be pretty crazy, even stock/lightly modified
C.) It would be damn funny being able to kill nearly anything on the street since if cost was no object I would have 500-600hp under the hood. No one would suspect it...especially not those domestic muscle car freaks ahahahahhaahahhahahahahahahah

mynismo

rb26

why are so many people picking sr's if money didn't mean anything... rb's have a very good weight distribution ratio, have TWO TURBOS, and are ungodly sickly fast completely stock in a 240.

if i won the lotto tomorrow, i would get the attached 240 in a heartbeat. or style one just like it. then i'd swap out the engine for a rb26 and mod it up to about 800hp.

NOTICE!

voting and posting go hand in hand. if you vote, you post what you voted for and why. DO NOT JUST VOTE AND LEAVE! this brings the thread back to the top with nothing new in it to read, such as now. the thread is at the top of the page, but the last reply is from yesterday.

if this happens too many more times, then i'll be forced to close the poll. please don't make me do that.

if money was no problem I'd just freakin create my own V6 engine specialy designed for the S13 240sx, I mean if you have all the money needed how could it be that hard?

Have you guys heard that say : "Money Talks" Money is always the problem with everything. The only reason my dad got the SR20 is because it was a trade for his old car (MR2). I still prefer the SR20, its popular and more parts here in america. compared to most of those other engines. and like most other people said " i'd rather get the RB" but oh well "money talks"

S13GTR

Definately RB26DETT because it is just the sickest swap ever done for the nissan 240. Yeah the others are possible with lots of fab and money but I built my rb26dett s13 for less than 8k including the car.

Cant beat that with a stick.

christofurr

I'm going to have to vote for the SR20DET. Why? Well, it being my stock motor is half the reason. But it's more than adequate for me. It's tame when I want it to be, and not-so-tame when I don't. Plus it's a solid building block for mods.

Did someone say 732bhp?

Unommon and expensive. That particular cars got something like $20,000 (AUD) worth of suspension gear alone! And sucks 4 litres per minute of $7.50/L race fuel. I have no use for that much power though. My aim is 300bhp tops, which is more than what I need.

I agree, S15's look amazing. Which is why I'll be trading my S14 in for one in a few years

I'd take the KA24DE-T....I dont know, for some reason I'm in love with that motor

ghostchild316
09-05-2003, 04:46 PM
I voted SR20DET only because that is what I wanna do for my senior project.

If it wasn't for that I would slap on a turbo on to my SOHC KA.Yea that's right bee-atches!!KA24ET!!!

Who's the buster that didnt add SOHC KA's to the choices?

Afterall, the SOHC does have plenty of potential since afterall it was used in 24 hour endurance races in the early nineties.

huh  yea good one dayna.

actually i change my mind about that sr20 motor, if i had all that money, i think id have to go with the rb26, then try to somehow balance the car better, and do a lot of other stuff. for now with money being the issue, id go with the sr20det.

I voted for RB25 just because it's big, badass, and I have a soft spot for I6's. They got torque comin out the ass (ever seen a NEAR stock Jeep 4.0l pull a wheelie? It's wierd, but I've seen it. No shit). They're bulletproof. Nissan doesnt screw around, and I mean c'mon... even the name RB26DET invokes a boner on all hot blooded men.:ylsuper:

That said... I'll stick with an SR20DET for my project car... If I can ever save up for one.

hey i'm a newb, what is the CA18 engine??? what car was that originally made for??? I know the KA and SR20's are the 240sx/silvia engine, then the RB25/26 are nissan skyline, but what about the CA18?

dayna240sx

older 180sx's, hence the name "180"sx

i voted for CA because i assumed it was the lightest engine... not sure of that though. Is it also aluminum block?

spitz7985
10-13-2003, 02:22 PM
i'd have a KA bored 2.5L block and ported head machined out of some really light alloy (titanium? aluminum?), and build it with all new light, strong, high revving parts- slap on a custom turbonetics turbo and say hello to 600+hp

edit: actually i'd probly over bore it and then shorten the stroke, keeping it at 2.4L

If I had that much money I would definately get the RB26, and make it so the twin turbo fits...

Then again I would also replace all the body panels with aircraft aluminum. Actually, screw it, I would replace everything in the car with aircraft aluminum. Of course the interior would be made of some sort of extremely rare, expensive and durable sport-leather. I would also genetically engineer a wolf to be able to talk intelligently (with a british accent) and be my maid/butler.

P.S. then does honda motorsports=HOMO
I commend you...
