LOL if you look at that you will see that what I raced were really race car with guted insides, The lowes amont of HP there was 350+ and that was a s10 with a v8 in it. I could see If I hooked up my car to run with them and lost like that but my car is stock really just did it to show my friends I would.

THATS IT!! Lets just put all of this domestic vs. import bullshit to rest. Both are awesome in their own right. No one can touch the displacement of American V-8s but the import guys are pretty damn smart and anyone that can make a 4 banger almost as quick as an 8 than they get my respect. We just gotta realize its about the cars. Its not all about that macho pissing contest that everyone makes it out to be just because the car comes from a different place in the world. I don't think a Cobra II mustang is an economy car. It has a 302 you know. And most cars in the late 70's era were severly underated. Like the 440 CID in my 77 Chrysler Newport is rated at 235 HP. But it can manage to push 2.5 tons to mid 14's in the 1/4. The only mustangs that are economy cars were the 4 bangers in the 80's. I also consider a 6 cylinder stang to be economy, but thats just my opinion some might disagree. Stock for stock I guarantee it's faster than your car. My dad had a 77 cobra II and he told me he raced a 71 Mach I with a 351C and beat him. Afterwards the guy came up to my dad wondering what the heck he had under the hood but it was completely stock. It was also automatic.

How much does the 77 Cobra II weigh? It looks light, compared to a 71.

The Cobra II should tip the scales right around 2700lbs. Probably about 800lbs less than the bloated 71.

The '71 was also rated in "gross" horsepower while the Mustang II's were all rated in "net" horsepower.

The stock Cobra II (with the 302, they also came with 2.3Ls and 2.8Ls), should pull off a 1/4 mile time in the 16s.

The best rating on them was 139hp@3600rpm, and 248lb/ft@1800rpm.

Yes 71-73 mustangs are the heaviest by far. But still the 302 in 77 was rated at 139 HP, the 351 in 71 was rated at 280 HP. Now there is not that big of a difference in weight, just the fact that in the late 70's mustangs and most others were underated due to emissions and gas crunch.

All the numbers I have show it at 3600rpm, but hell, all I have to go on is the actual manuals written during the time the car was made.
