5.0 vs. Rice

GT's are slow, they are so detuned. And I am by now means a Ford guy, I like all cars pretty much whether import or domestic. All I want is for people to compare apples to apples, like what I said about putting what that supra costs into a mustang would make it faster.
I actually agree with you redrunner, 5.0 mustang guys talk the most shit, hands down. I actually hate the 88-93 fox mustangs for that very reason, only assholes drive them and they think they are the fastest car on the planet.

oh and dont get me wrong I would Love to have a SVT or Cobra Mustang would drive it all day and all night and races cops and anything that pulls up to me at a light

oh and about people being killed and Hondas and acura

My friend this weekend just got his 91 Acura Teg was drive and hydroplained hit a ditch and flip his car took out 3 trees. He walked away with a cut on his leg and that came from when he undid his seat belt he hit the roof of his car where there was so glass

oh the car is done will never drive again but it keep him safe and thats the only thing that matters

Freaking A, "we" have done it again. The 'import racing crowd' has made yet another shameful display. Alllllright, let's see if I can't establish some common sense amongst all this belligerence.

It is impossible to apply a blanket stereotype for either crowd (domestic and import). Case in point: There are idiots who drive imports, and there are idiots who drive domestics. Guess what they have in common? Exactly, they're both idiots.

Furthermore, there are those of us (I would optimistically include myself in this category) who are intellectual enough to appreciate cars in both (again, domestic and import) categories. There are American cars that I would love to drive, let alone own! And there are Japanese cars that you couldn't pay me to even get close to.

What bothers me is this: There is no mutual respect amongst these two crowds. Well, at least not that I have seen on this forum lately.
I would ask you guys (owners of domestic cars) to just realize that both the import and domestic crowd has its share of belligerent jerks who will stop at nothing short of defamation, and that the only solution to this will come through the perseverance of the few, not the many.

I hope that this post will offer insight to at least a few of you.

Like I said before, you are not comparing the right era's. 80's technology is much crappier than in 99, come on. And there is a reason mustangs don't have 4 cylinders anymore, those were only for economy. And if you want to get technical, 4 banger mustangs in the 80's had a special version that was turbocharged, and was faster than the GT at the time.

OK i wasn't defending any cars that I drive, and I wasn't making fun of any either. In fact, I've never owned a mustang, I just like them and happen to know a lot about them. Like I said before I like pretty much all cars whether import or domestic. I like the fact that there are 4 bangers out there that can smoke some of the fastest domestics, but I also like the torque and rush and sound and rumble of a V8. But what I am trying to prove is that people need to compare the right things, and not things that are ridiculous like comparing a $30K car to a 5K car.

Personaly Im tired of the whole domestic vs. import war. I prefer Honda over ford but thats just me. You dont have to be a fanboy to drive a honda, so stop acting like everyone elses car is shit. Every car has its good and bad points. I drive an 03 Accord 6 spd, but that doesnt give me the right to hate on domestics. Its just ignorant. Even though i own an import, im siding partially with the domestic owners on the fact that riced out civics and the such have given all Imports (especially Honda) a very bad name. I love my accord just as much as they love their stangs. Cant we just get along? haha

I do give respects to the new sports sedan cars that are out like the WRX and the LanEvo, not to mention the SRT-4. Its just everyone has their own tastes and differences.

OK lets compare a 2 valve 2 BBL 4.6 to a 4 valve 4 BBL 4.6, the 4 valve on a Mach I sounds twice as good and clean from the factory than any GT with aftermarket exhaust.

Well ill agree to a point, but the GT Bullitt had a kickass stock exhaust... not to mention an off-road H on a GT gives it an unbeatable exhaust tone.

Good grief. Do you even know what the "BBL" stands for? Barrels on a carbuerator. The Mustang hasn't had a carbuerator option since 1986 on the 2.3L. The V-8 hasn't been carbed since 1985.

The 4V (V stands for valve on a newer EFI engine or venturi on an older carbed model) does sound a lot better than the SOHC 16v V-8 under the hood of the GT. I don't think my GT sounds bad, in fact, sounds pretty damn good to me. I've owned 3 Mustang 5.0s, and 2 had exhaust mods. The 5.0 definately sounds better to me, but it's all in what you like. I like the fact the newer 4.6s are loud enough to be heard, yet they don't drone all the way down the road when you're cruising.

Also the SVO Mustang from 85 1/2-86 with the intercooled turbo making 205hp was not as fast as the Mustang GT because of the turbo lag. It's one of the reasons the Mustang GT was more prevelant on the closed circuit courses with inferior brakes and suspension systems. The SVO was a neat car, but it didn't have enough torque to make up the difference.

Mustang GT drivers are no where near as arrogant as the LS1 owners as a general rule, but they don't really have any reason to be quite so confident, either.

There is so much misinformation in this thread, which always seems to happen when a whole bunch of people begin arguing on this topic, that there isn't even a place to start. It's pathetic how little some people know about what they're talking about.

There are people in here posting about how the GT won't beat a Cobra when the 96-98 Cobra vs a 99-03 GT is pretty much a dead even race in the 1/4 with the 45hp advantage the Cobra has. There are people in hear claiming to know about Mustang's that don't. There are people in here spouting off domestics suck, and just as many spouting off imports suck. Of those, few know what they're talking about even when they're talking about their own cars, much less somebody else's.

The few people that jump in and say while they prefer one side, they still respect the other are getting flamed. What a worthless thread. While I'm trying to correct a little of the complete garbage in it, I certainly can't fix it all.

Dont get me wrong... I love F-bodies... even owned one. Hopefully by the future Ill finally be able to finish restoring a First Gen F-bod, preferably a Camaro RS/SS, I like them better with the headlights covered up.:smile:

Ok correct me if im wrong but the reason that all of the thousands of people that come to this website is because they love cars in one form or another.

So why in hell is everyone is everyone arguing about which car is better than the other. Obviously as it has been said six times before each type of car has its advantages.

Everyone needs to just respect the other side of the table. Lets face it there is a lot more potiential for power out of a v-8 but on the other side there are some awesome things you can do with a civic or ricer such as Lambo doors or electrontics and looks.

I wonder why guys in Mercedes, BMW's, and Porsches always want to run.....and I always get them in the end....if I don't outright torch them. I consider it a compliment when guys in 400+ HP Mercedes tell me I have a mean car....usually, the ricers just stop and give me compliments about the way the car sounds and looks. Oh, exhaust....the only people who don't like the way it sounds are my wife and the red-neck cop who gave me a ticket for being too loud....it is friggin unreal. I've had the sound described to me at WOT as like something at NASCAR, or an Indy Car, and on the dyno someone said it sounded like a jet airplane. I haven't heard anything that sounds remotely like this Cobra, and I absoloutely love the sound. On the dyno the car turned 345 lb-ft of torque and 335 hp with just a KNN filter and underdrive pulleys. As far as handling, I've had a couple of guys in Rice-Burners chase me through the mountains here on highway 78 acting like they had a chance....the only one i know for sure is a Mitsubishi Eclipse...(also a BMW Z3) and they weren't even close. By the way, next car is going to be a Subaru WRX STi or a Lancer Evolution....yea, I like fast foreign cars also.

Well I am so sorry i forgot to say V. I'm used to working on carbed engines anyway and just type whatever. I have heard people and even in some magazines refer to throttle bodies as having barrels before, so I really don't think their is anything wrong with saying 4 BBL. It's just a 4 barrel TB instead of a 4 BBL carb. The ''barrels'' are still there, it just doesn't work the same way.
