This is the braided electrical grounding strap that grounds the engine to the frame.

I used pins to hold the front spoiler in place before installing the actual mounting hardware. The inside is purposely done to look like unfinished painted fiberglass. The finger pulls have also been added to front latches.

The nose is done; the grille and spoiler are bolted in/on.

The side body panels are on for the final time. I’ll install the panel below the header after I finish bolting them all the way on.

The rear body work is coming along as well, but other details need to be made and installed inside of it before final installation to the frame.

The firewall/scuttle is pretty much done and permanently affixed. Except for the soft lines to the front calipers the brake system is done too.

I made the worm drives for the radiator hose clamps and added the front brake soft lines. Looks a little dusty…

The worm screws for the fuel lines (and other smaller diameter low pressure hoses) were even more fun to make. My camera is having a difficult time capturing them.

Nice work on those hose clamps, Mark! Did you photoetch the "bands" then machine the screw?

Thanks Mike! I didn't use PE for the bands, I thought they would look too thick. I used a thin foil and made a decal for the teeth, the screw parts are machined.

Gear shifter. 2.25 inch diameter ball. Same size as a pool ball… Ready for paint.

The hood has been final waxed and buffed. I installed the under hood blanket and added a little dusty dirt to the underside too. I still need to add the tabs to the latches but will do that later since they are delicate as (I learned from knocking them off the nose piece).

This is the license plate and back-up light. It has a clear lens with white fluting on the inside.

Been lurking on the forum for years, always admired the incredible work everyone does here. Yours especially has been an inspiration to keep modeling and seeing this build come together has pushed me to get the modeling tools and start up again. Can't wait to see it done!

Yes it is getting close to being done. Working on the final fitting of the rear body and it really changes the look from what I have been looking at for so long. There is a good bit of satisfaction in building something from nothing, but I'll have to wait until it's done to get the full effect, if there is one. And I am still not tired of building it.

The head lights have been installed and wired. The stems are removable with a single bolt and a plug at the root makes it easy to pull them off for track time.

Hard to believe that most on this car is scratched. Fabulous build and detailing. Your knowledge on engines/cars must be very wide to accomplish this!

Utterly, utterly crazy...but in a great way! So many well thought-out tiny details - I loved the appearance of the fibreglass under the nosecone, by the way, from years of looking at my own 7 - and all on a small scale (and the 7's smaller than most cars to start with) There's a hint of Series 4 Lotus in the rear wings/fenders and back end, too...!

I keep thinking that one of these days I'll scratchbuild my own car in 1:8, but I don't think I'd be able to match this one. Bravo!

Looks so weird without the hood on, so wide at the rear. And then with the hood on it looks great :-)
Trunk lid lock is very nice and fits well. Engine pics are out of words...

It is coming to an end. The last parts have been added. I should be able to post finished photos tomorrow.
I know I have enjoyed the journey, well, almost all of the time... But then if it isn't a challenge, it isn't as much of an accomplishment.
