We have those at our camp as well. They scare the hell out of me as well, and can be hard as hell to kill. If you try to hit them with a stick or a paddle, they can quickly move out of the way, or they sometimes will run up the stick and try to get onto you, in which case I drop the stick fast and run.

Sometimes they even get into my boat, in which case I usuially try to spray it with some sort of bug spray or anything that I have. It scares the living shit when ill be sitting there fishing, and ill cast out my line, and look down, and one of those fuckers will be right there on the platform. This results in a very loud girlish shreek.

fuck those things r ugly as hell.

I've never heard of a dock spider before. We used to always have black widows in our garage at my parents' house. Big fun! :D

dock spiders are just the spiders that live under docks... i dunno what their actual names are, but that's what people here call them. I have no clue why they're so big an ugly :)

I'm glad that their are barely any spiders bigger than like a nickle up here :D i only see like 5 a year that are bigger than a nickle :D

LOL, same here, there's actually not that many spiders around here (Too cold maybe?) but I would also freak If I saw a black widow, cause they can potential kill anybody. I once refused to wear shoes after hearing about them when I went to Arizona, I would only wear sandals for the week.

For some reason i never see any nasty bugs/spiders when i'm on vacation down south
