Does Anyone know anything about this? Did the ZAZ Museum actually close??

Yes, it is true and very disappointing news.

The family still has the cars as far as I understand - should be #006 (now black), LM2 and 58F1GT there. I suspect they're still in the same location, just not available for public tours anymore. For a long time it wasn't open to the public so maybe they will change their minds again someday.

This is rather disappointing news. I was considering a trip to Japan sometime soon and it was going to be the perfect opportunity for me to see a good portion of the F1 family. Seems like the cars are getting harder and harder to find!

I swear this color is called "Creighton Brown". I won't believe I am wrong until I see the Owner's Manual from the car that says otherwise.

I've made a much needed update to the first post here including all the info I believe is correct at this time.

I'm not at all confident that #063 is still over here and contemplated removing it, but I am not sure where else to put it. It might be in Europe somewhere but that remains to be confirmed.

Has 25R received conversions to make it road legal? If not, going off the slide from the talk at Pebble the figure of 7 corresponds with #063 being there. (Also assuming that LM2 and 58F1GT are considered as being road legal, not sure if they are actually registered for road use.)

If 25R is now road legal then it could be a fair assumption that #063 indeed has not returned to Japan, although I certainly cannot shed light on where it might be/end up.

Check out on this Japanese website http://www.fa-automobile.com/liste-par-modele.php?car-for-sale=Mclaren-f1-mclaren-f1-maclaren-f1-GTR-LM&id=37&model=69

I discovered that it shows #072 and a pics #029.

I can be certain that the pink/brown car is #029 from the owners papers shown :)

As I clicked on the picture of the blurry grey image of the second f1 from the top, I discovered (as you will see in my link below) a text box in which you need to type your email to recieve photos.

http://www.fa-automobile.com/detail-vente.php?v=2136

When you type your email address the pictures will be sent to your address and you will find pictures of #029, its tan luggage bags(cool), and accessories offered for sale!

The last picture is of an owners form showing the chassis number. The car only has 314 miles on it:headshake

These are old shots from when #013 returned to BingoSports. It has since been sold twice.

FA-Automobile is actually a French website, not a Japanese one.

Some of the photos of #072 from FA-Automobile aren't loading for me. That's a shame because this is the last time we'll see that car looking that way. Car should be marked "Sold" now.

I was sent those pics of #029 a while ago but didn't realize that everyone would have the same opportunity to access them. If I had seen they were publicly available I'd have shared them. It's a great set of shots of a very rarely seen F1. Glad you found the link. :)

I think that odometer is showing kilometers, not miles btw.

Funny that #014 is shown as 'SOLD' - this photo (http://instagr.am/p/SmBJ9/) appeared on Twitter recently showing the car still in the owner's garage just a little over a month ago. I doubt it has been sold.

You can get them from the link mclarenman supplied. The photos they will email you are the exact same ones I have except the set that was emailed to me has someone else's email address embeded across them.

In my case with the website I got one email with one photo and then a link inside to click to get the rest in a second email. If you struggle with it let me know and I'll try to help.

Well ZAZ has been shuttered and according to one contact the cars are no longer kept in that building. I have been told they were moved to a warehouse similar to what you see in the background there.

I do believe the GT and LM are still with the same family, but I have to think seeing a photo like this one surface that there is a small chance the GT could be for sale. Don't quote me on that, just idle speculation here.

"F1 MCL" is a real plate owned by McLaren and now fitted to Ron's F1. Whether the DVLA ever knew that 56XPGT wore it is anyone's guess.

A contact sent me these photos today and has kindly allowed me to share with the group. Included in the note was the mileage figure - "Just 314 miles!!" - but perhaps he meant KM's because that's what I thought it had?

The current asking price - and hopefully you are seated, is reported to be $5.5M USD. :yikes:

Like many of the record F1 prices of the past, there will probably come a day when buying any F1 at that price will have seemed to have been worth every penny. I don't find it quite so shocking as I recently heard a fairly credible story about a US car that may have been sold for a figure near the $5M mark. :sunglasse

Would you be referring to the color? I heard a rumor from a reliable source that someone past up an offer of $5-6 Million in the recent past. If that's correct it shows that there are people willing to pay that much for one.

With which part of my post?

It's the ArtSports logo - that's the dealership in Japan where the car has been stored for many years and first listed for sale through back in 2007.

I was sort of joking, thinking you might be referring to the interior color, which I have to say I wouldn't chose. Of course for a guy like myself I'd take it if I had the chance.

I sure hope that ArtSports logo is only a removable sticker. I can't understand putting your dealership logo on such a car.

Peloton25
07-26-2012, 09:05 PM
Nothing to do with the colors - I think this spec is actually quite fantastic.

You might have to draw your own conclusions a bit on what I wrote. I know that several good offers have been made for this one in all the time it has been offered for sale. Not letting go of it since 2007 when it first went up for sale hasn't been the dumbest decision since values have more than doubled in that time period, but a lot of potential customers have apparently spun their wheels on this one with no result.

And yes - probably a sticker. If you look back at the shots of #28R from the Bonhams catalog you'll find it wears a BingoSports decal at the rear. So too did chassis #013 at one point.

It's possibly my favourite road going F1 - despite protestations from A.N.other who has seen it who has infinitely far more knowledge and contact to F1's on a daily basis than I deeming it to be not in his choice of colour

I'd pay up to £4m for it due to the mileage

Actually, if I were able to buy the car today, I would keep it in it's original state despite my color preferences. I've always appreciated originality; I've never been one to modify things. If I had any sports car, one I could afford, knowing myself I would not change a thing. I wouldn't even alter the exhaust system for the sake of improving sound quality.

I would certainly be a purist with the F1 because it's the way it was made for the first time. Sorry, I'm a sentimental type. Sometimes I think it's cool that McLaren allows modifications and that the provenance is maintained, but the purist in me also dislikes it. If everyone changes colors on each F1, we lose a touch of what they were from the beginning. This is why the original untouched F1's are all the more special. So, there's a deeper meaning behind this car that exceeds personal taste, in my humble opinion.

F1GTRUeno
07-27-2012, 03:56 PM
Yep if I was ever in a position to afford an F1, it'd be this one and it'd be kept as is.

It's utterly perfect and pretty damn unique as well, don't see many cars if any in such a combination.

LMMike
07-27-2012, 04:08 PM
I think it would be cool if these originals fall into the hands of those that appreciate purity and originality. Suppose they did and we always had originals maintained, wouldn't it be cool to create a special class such as an originals club that came together every so often like the event that just took place in Italy. Of course I'm not sure how many are original; might be a small club. But they would be worth following just like Erik follows the US cars for instance.:)

carbuilder2002

Going to throw a curve ball in here, why opt for a very low milage example unless you do NOT intend to use it, my preference would be to go for something that I would be happy to use and not worry that I was depreciating it by adding milage.
