Talking I Need Tips in upgrading a DOHC VTEC Engine

hey everybody.. im new and all.. so i dont know how yas treat newbies round here haa.. but yeah im just not at all the best car person.. i mean i do know some basics but hrmm..

i have recently purchased a 2000 Civic Coupe (DOHC VTEC) and im very curious on upgrading the actual VTEC engine... im not to keen into a full engine change i just want to max the VTEC potential performance.. ive currently added a KNN Filter and it seems to run smoother and it kicks in slightly faster revs..
my frens tell me to add VTEC controllers.. and iam still curious in what else can be added to the actual VTEC engine..

btw if you live around sydney Australia.. it would be preffered if u can reccomend me parts that are legal in our region iam not to keen in difects.. thanks alot peoples i hope i could get some feedback asap

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(btw sorri if i seem to be repeating my self.. i thot it would be beneficial to start threads in different areas so forgive me mr moderators im only trying to learn as much as i can)..

also.. ive done a lil reseacrh this time and i was wondering if adding a
[Skunk2] DOHC VTEC Camshafts, Racing Valve Springs,
and Titanium Retainers..
and
[Field] SFC-VTEC COntroller..

would these be a potential for the VTEC engine..? i wonder if anyone uses these..? tell me how they are..? thanks for all the input peoples

a k&n filter is a good start.

Second would be to buy a good exhuast. headers and a new exhuast should give u a little noticable boost in hp. I don't know if a louder exhuast is legal down there though..

another easy way to possibly boost ur engine performace is to get a mod chip put into your ecu (computer) that'll make it run to higher revs and run your engine a little faster. That kinda mod is probably legal too.

i don't know anything about vtec controllers though or anything on making those better. Gonna have to get info from someone else on that. GL though.

complete the i/h/e set-up, get a test-pipe, VTEC controller, clutch, HONDATA chip, upgrade internals (cams/pistons 'higher compression if u want all motor, lower if u want turbo'/rods etc...)

MaxGCivic,
yeap the KNN filters are ausome.. they really make a difference..
Also i forgot to mention i currently have a exhaust, i didnt buy my car stock so im trying to find out what brand it is but it seems to be just a tip..or else id have an extractor with it right?..
I also just recently looked thru my suspensions and they seem to be custom sports suspensions.. but yeah anyway this mod chip which goes into the ecu computer..? is the ecu a stock for my model would u know.. im not familair with chips.. theyr kinda difect here i think but im interested..

civicHBsi91,
Oh.. yeah alot of people are reccomending me the fields sfc controller.. so i guess it really must be a good buy.. ive also been told about the Data Systems Concealed VTEC Controller but i still dont have alot of knowledge about it except that its been popular around japan.. is it just the same concept as the fields sfc version..?

KrNxRaCer00
hrmm yeah the cam shafts seems to be another way to go but then ill prolly need the intak manifolds , vlave springs and retainers.. hrmm currently with my occupation the controllers are the best way to go.. btw whats the i/h/e set-up, and the HONDATA chip.. is that actually from HONDA..? this is all becomming intresting i just simply love learning about civics..!
