Toyota Supra.. Veilside Kit.. R34 Wheels.. Candy Apple Red

Hey all..

Im building a veilside toyota supra.
Im planning on putting R34 GTR wheels on it and ive attempted a candy apple red colour.
To do the colour, i painted metallic silver as a base, then a clear red, and then a normal clear.
This was my first attempt at painting this way, and a think it came out well.

I shaved the fin things off the bonnet, makes it look smoother i think.
May do a bigger turbo setup, if i get motivated...
Also going to be making a front mount intercooler.
As for interior, thinking a light colour. Got a colour called 'sail' by hobby color and might use that.

Thinking of doing a silver carbon fiber bonnet, as the paint didnt come out to well on it.
What do you guys reckon?

Paint work has not been polished yet.. and has a real nice shine to it already.
May not even polish it, as it looks good enough for me already.. haha

This is just dry-fit at the moment. Ill Let the paint cure properly before i do panel lines and polish (if i polish it.. hahah)

Hope you all like it..

Any ideas and comments are appreciated.

Here are some pic...

Thanks...

Looks good, but take the pics a little farther away. Also try to resize them to be a little smaller. Welcome to AF. Good luck, always fun to see a supra build.

Re: Toyota Supra.. Veilside Kit.. R34 Wheels.. Candy Apple Red

Hey all,

Thanks for the comments.

Gave the bonnet a polish and it didnt fix the paint problem, and chipped a lil bit of paint in the process
Cant see the problem in the pic of the bonnet, but basically there was a strip that was darker on it and made it look funny.

So now its the question of black carbon, silver carbon, matt black or a gloss black.
The black carbon is a straight pattern, and the silver is diagonal.

Not sure what to go with atm, some ideas would be nice

thanks

I like the colour, is it hard to paint the transparent red evenly and also, how many coats did you apply? I know you said theres a stripe in the hood but I just can't see it. I think your idea of going with carbon for the hood is good. I'm sure all the choices you suggest would look good, but I would go with the black.

I painted 3 coats of the red. You cant see it in the picture. The flash on the camera brightened it all up and made it all the one colour, but when in person you can definitely see it. I think ill wait a bit before changing the hood, and see what others peoples opinions are.

Ill start on the interior or something...

Ill Keep you updated...

Re: Toyota Supra.. Veilside Kit.. R34 Wheels.. Candy Apple Red

Today i painted the window trim in matt black, and when i removed the tape, it left a residue on the paint work.. not sure how im going to remove it.
I used Tamiya tape..
Looks like i might have to sand and polish it after all.. Thought i might have got out of it.. haha

Any other ideas people?

Re: Toyota Supra.. Veilside Kit.. R34 Wheels.. Candy Apple Red

Hey all. Just an update.

Cleaned up the residue with some stuff called 'windex' and it worked a treat.

Ive also now painted the headlights and tail lights in matt black.
Bonnet is now matt black, still thinking of carbon, but we will see what happens.

Underbody and suspension parts are painted.
I have to modify the brakes and change the car to female so i can use the wheels that i want to use.
Dont want to change the wheels, just in case i want to use the wheels on another car later on.
Ive added a pic of the wheels im using too.. They are r34 GTR wheels.

As for the interior, i painted the main color, but still have to do the details.
The nos bottles are sitting in coke, to strip the chrome off it and then will get primed and painted.
Thats the first time i did that and i am rather quite surprised at how well it works.. haha

Nothing is glued in place yet, just want to have it all ready and ill glue each section at once.

Sorry if the pics aren't too good, im not that great at taking pics..
Well less talk and here's some pics.

Thanks for looking guys
