do i need a new engine?

hey im 19 years old. i have a mitsubishi eclipse gs-t. ok so i got the car like a year ago. my friend said that their was this thing called sea foam that cleans out your engines carbon and the cylinders. i forgot what all he said it cleand, but we put some of that sea foam stuff on my gas tank my oil and the vacume lines. it was a small bottle it wasnt that much. well we put it in. my car was smoken out alot of white smoke and had no power at all for like 5 min. but when it gained all the power back it was running amazing better before we added the sea foam. so we took it out that night it was running at its best. but the next day, my car started to shake. as soon as it gets to about 2500 rpm it shakes and wount pick up speed. you have to let go of the gas and floar it again so it can pick up speed. but it will only pick up speed for like 2 seconds then start to sheke again. or if its an a total stop then step on the gas. it will go up till it gets to 2500 rpm. then it will shake again and strugle to pick up speed. or if you floar it and keep it floard it will shake pick up speed and shake all over again. when it shakes the rpms go down. like if the shaking is stoping it from picking up speed. does anyone know what it is? was it the sea foam that messt it up. does it sound like something serious? i have tooken it to like 3 mecanics they dont know whats causing it. i replaced the spark plug wires to 10.5 mm ones. and i chainged the sparkplugs to ngk platinum. i put a k&n air filter and it still wount stop doin the shaking. doe anyone know what it might be?

Welcome to AF!

Is the cel on? Deffinately sounds like a boost leak, search to find out how to build one. Also change your oil if you haven't already since you did the sea foam.

Welcome to AutomotiveForums!!!

Seafoam is a great product, but has to be used with caution.
Firstly, CHANGE THE OIL! As soon as you use seafoam, you HAVE to replace the spark plugs and change the oil. Seafoam is basically a non-lubricating liquid. If you still have it mixed in your oil, you're drying out your rings and not properly lubricating the motor.

And secondly, I don't think NGK Platinums are good for the GST (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Thirdly, how quickly did you suck down the bottle into the vacuum lines and which lines did you use? Seafoam is actually bad on gaskets in large quantities. That's why when going through the vacuum lines, you have to rev the car while sucking it in (not only to keep the motor from hydrolocking) but to get it in and out as quickly as possible.

Re: do i need a new engine?

correct the platinums are horrible under boost.

Second easiest way to check for a boostleak is make a boost leak tester. Take off the intake and get a pcv plastic cap that you can put a valve stem on it and clamp it to the turbo and pressurize the system listen for leaks. You can also pressurize with smoky air and look for where it escapes as well. I made this video of what it should look like
