Detailing a Mclaren

Hi all

Here are some pics off another website (in Japanese would you believe!) of (what we believe to be) #059 being 'detailed' over a 2 day period a few weeks ago. Check out the signatures too! (Ron Dennis, Mansour Ojjeh, Creighton Brown and Gordon Murray). Despite the text being in Japanese, I believe, after a tip off, they were taken in the Midlands, UK as recently as 3 weeks ago

Images © Copyright 2008 - Elite Detailing and Protection Ltd and are NOT to be used for commercial purposes.

I first thought (and I was taking an educated guess here) that (what we believe to be) #14R was there too (check out the reflection in some of the pics) but it might even be Mr B's #16R getting a touch up

That's a really cool find. Yes, those signatures are great. Why don't you use Google or Babelfish and translate the text for us?

Re: Detailing a Mclaren

Wow - those shots are great. It's a shame they are small, but I guess that is to be expected given the source location. Still no shot of the chassis plate...

I am trying to figure out where that signature plate lives. It makes the most sense that it would be on the bulkhead behind the driver's seat, but the angles look odd and that hose? is throwing me off. Anyway, that's an interesting item - I don't believe we have seen one like that on any other car. I used to think this car belonged to Ron Dennis, but it seems odd he'd put his signature on his own car.

Most likely that is the car we call #14R or #15R. Mr B's #16R runs a much smaller front plate, and doesn't wear the mesh cover on the center vent opening. Also, these two cars have been seen together before as most will know, adding some additional credence to that hypothesis.

P.S.: Greg - Where'd that new signature shot come from?

It came from the same source -that Japanese website. I think you are right that the shot came from the bulkhead behind the drivers seat; I can't think of another (sensible) place for it to be

EDIT - It was early this morning and I didn't quite get this (I thought you meant the 4 sig shot on the F1); The sig shot I've had since about Feb07; I can't remember where I got it from but it's one of a few from the same series of pics - I'll PM them to you later today

Re: Detailing a Mclaren

I have been pointed in the direction of this website, where I believe the pictures were sourced from on the Jap website I quoted earlier. Enjoy

Re: Detailing a Mclaren

The shot of #040 looks familiar - but I either didn't save it or filed it in the wrong place.

There was one additional shot of the silver car on the detailer's website:

Looks like he does excellent work!

Re: Detailing a Mclaren

The papaya GTR is definately not #16R.

As for which GTR it actually is..........

Looks like the owner of the silver HDF is of large build, as you can see by the drivers seat type, ie cut away sides. I have only seen this seat type, once before in #009.

Gurcharn-
Responded to your PM and email and took care of your concerns.

I didn't see the Japanese site. Hopefully someone else can assist you with sourcing that link.

Re: Detailing a Mclaren

Hi Gurchan, as I said in my PM I'll try to find the link (Skyline Forum IIRC) but it's not showing up on my history file on my home PC - sorry

Bit of a long shot but does anyone know the exact colour name and paint code for 059?
