3 of 5 doors in my 95 wagon won't unlock
Hi guys. Yet another door lock actuator question, with a spin: only the driver side front door lock works (and the tailgate also will electrically unlock from the driver side door) but the rest won't. I plan to replace the passenger front actuator---is there a chance that will fix the back two doors as well, or are they likely to be two separate problems? And will actuators from 4-door sedans work in the wagon? Finally is it even a good idea to use universal door actuators?

Re: 3 of 5 doors in my 95 wagon won't unlock
Well in case somebody ELSE does this, for me, the best way was to buy the damn things off ebay for about $30 per. On a 96 wagon with electric windows you unscrew the screw on the door latch, and the screw in the little cupped receptactle. You pry the little plastic triangular cover piece near the rearview, or back, depending on the window, out and then up. You pop the rivet things out, and that worked best for me by HAND and not with my fancy tool. Slide the bezel around the door latch frontwards about a half inch and then lift up the door panel and slide the bezel through it, latch still attached. Couple wires to unplug and lift the panel away. Simple, huh? Not in the manual and not on this forum that I could find. Three big screws hold the door latch on, and you need to use a GOOD screwdriver and a BIG one and get it right the first time lest they strip. Then it's a matter of reachin in there, perhaps with a flexi light, and popping up the plastic guards off the two linkages. After loosening the three aforementioned screws you can wiggle it around and that helps, as well as taking off the screw that holds the bottom of the window track in place. Magnetic parts dishes rule. The door latch, and lock actuator, can slide towards the outside of the door while you wiggle the window track inward, if you're patient enough long enough. Having a battery of different sized screwdrivers helps get the guards pried gently off the linkage. Oh. Yeah. I used a heat gun, BRIEFLY, to soften the sticky stuff on the plastic protective sheet, and that helped a lot to keep it from tearing and to re-stick it. That's the main parts. There's a plastic linkage shield in there that's self explanatory, and held on by one screw. Patience and multiple ales carry the day.
