Re: Carbon fiber spyder trunk

Are you sure that they even make one... I know they do for hardtops but I've never seen one for a spyder.

You could always fill the holes...

I don't think they exist, or atleast nobody was able to find them for a spyder.

I think VIS is the best place to check...

I know I've seen them before for the hardtops, but none for the spyder. Carbon-creations.com specializes in CF parts, e-mail them and see if they know anything.

Is that really worth it to you? Probably nearly $900 just to have your trunk wrapped in carbon fiber....your not losing any weight, so the only thing you get out of it is the look. Personally that is way too expensive.

Re: Carbon fiber spyder trunk

def not worth it for that price I'm sure you can find cheaper elsewhere.

I'd personally just fill the holes. I filled all the holes from my original spoiler so I could put on the turbo spoiler. It takes a couple coats of bondo and you may want to put in a backing plate. Sand it flat. Primer and paint. Walla all done and way cheaper.

Re: Carbon fiber spyder trunk

Shiiiiiit. From what I hear, working with carbon fiber is just like working with fiber glass. You could just buy your own carbon fiber and epoxy for WAY less than that. Just get the holes filled man. Way less expensive and less cobble jockied.

Good luck finding any... Some of the largest carbon fiber distributors in the world are behind on stock and are no longer accepting sales to anybody except exisiting customers who require a large quantities... I already tried to buy some to make parts because it really is just as easy as fiberglass, just a little more touchy in details...

Re: Carbon fiber spyder trunk

Haven't you read any of the last posts? Carbon fiber is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find anymore, at least the good stuff. And it's not just the fiber and then clearcoat. It's a fiber mat, and then you lay resin down over top of it. It's not EASY unless you know what you're doing. If you have never worked with fiberglass before, I would suggest starting out with some smaller stuff before you try and make a complete mold out of your trunk.

Re: Carbon fiber spyder trunk

Huh, last time I was into carbon fiber I found quite a few websites and IIRC it was cheap too. This was like 2 years ago though.
