Question 03 vs 04 srt

I got to drive my friends srt4 the other day and loved it. Handles great and great power when you get on it. In it we raced a Z28, LT1, and he was at our door until 4 gear where he inched away from us. I've always like f-body, but since I drove this I want something with the same power as an f-body and a little better handling. But I've heard there are a couple differances in 03 and 04 Srt4, like for 1 thing I know that the 04 has LSD and the 03 doesn't. Also I don't know if this is true but I've heard that the 03 is slower than the 04 cause something with there air/fuel mixture. IYO, what is a better deal and which 1 would u rather have?

The '03 doesn't have as much power. You can upgrade the power but without the LSD it is hard to make use of it.

Re: 03 vs 04 srt

Ok, thanks for the info, I was already leaning towards the 04 model. My next ? is stage 2, my friends brother also has a srt4 he is an 03 but has stage 2. They've never raced, but how much faster does stage 2 make it in a 1/4 mile and just all around? How much does it cost? Is it worth it?

Re: 03 vs 04 srt

If you get stage 2, get stage 2 with Turbo Toys.
It has an adjustment wheel to dial in how much power you want and it also has a 110 octane racing gas button.

Re: 03 vs 04 srt

here's some real information regarding the 03 adn 04 srt4s

03-05 srt4's all have the same power. the 03's were rated at less, but power is the same. injector size changed, but power didnt. they just ran larger injectors and cut down injector pulse

04-05 have LSD units. due to the equal length halfshafts accelaration is not hindered much between the 03's and the 04-05s. the LSD comes into play in accelaration out of the turns, it helps prevent smoking the inside tire coming out of the twisties

an 03 is going to be cheaper and will do just as well. when it comes down to the LSD, i dont like mine. i have an 03 with an 04/05 LSD. it causes too much understeer. stick with an 03 and save a couple bucks

Re: 03 vs 04 srt

TEXSRT should know, good info TEX! I would have thought the LSD would be better. Is it preference and not performance?
