Reji Model Skoda Fabia WRC - Swedish Rally 2005 Red Bull
As mentioned in my thread about the Profil-24, these finally came this past week (Had them on-order from http://www.sirio.com/icaro/ since about December I think: Roberto is a good guy to deal with, good prices too).
Here is the Skoda: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The quality of the parts is actually quite good, especially given what I have read here about the earlier Skoda releases (Especially the rear windows, which are perfect on mine). Besides some texture, and a lot of flash in the windows which I cleaned up before those pictures, the body is good. The decals are excellent, as is the PE set by Eduard. The chassis is plain, as you expect with a resin kit, but as long as I do everything Sasa Zjelic did with his awesome build (On here in various parts), it should look great. The three biggest short-comings are the center console on the dash, the rollcage (Which, based on what Sasa had to do to get his to look right, I might just scrap that and make my own), and one of the wheels is missing a spoke, so that will be the spare, sitting face-down. Unlike the Metro, I think I would be able to build this kit now (Well, 'now' for me meaning I would work on it every night for a week, then not touch it for 3 months). I think I will make it a diorama, with the car at the start line of a stage. |

Re: Reji Model Skoda Fabia WRC - Swedish Rally 2005 Red Bull
I can hardly wait to see the progress on this model.
A good choice I must say, in my opinion the Red Bull livery is the best so far for the Fabia. Do you use any specific tools to clean the resin parts? Sanding paper, dremel, file? |

Re: Reji Model Skoda Fabia WRC - Swedish Rally 2005 Red Bull
Yes, I loved the Red Bull car, which is mostly why I got it. The 2006 version looks great too, maybe I will build a tarmac version of that someday.
To clean up the parts I used a basic hobby knife with a #11 blade, a set of side-cutters, some flexible sanding sticks, tiny files, and a 'Flex-I-File' (Which was especially helpful for the cage parts. I found that dragging the knife backwards in the grooves was the best way to trim the excess flashing that was in the windows (Like on the roll cage pieces), as it removes a LOT of material (And makes a LOT of mess LOL). I also used the side-cutters to carefully snip off as many of the little nubs and other bits as I could befor sanding them. I think I will have to use a Dremel on that big part in the picture with the seats (but definitely wear a mask and glasses). Overall I think I prefer the excess flashing like some of those parts have to having them poorly molded or incomplete: I'd rather spend 10 minutes cutting and filing a part to shape than having to fill any parts with putty.
