**Transmission Codes - What They Mean and What Happens**

DTC = Description = DTC type = *Default Action

P0502 = Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) -Low Input = A = * DTC P502 will be stored in PCM history * Second gear only * Maximum line pressure * Freeze shift adapts from being updated * Inhibit TCC engagement

P0560 = System Voltage Malfunction = D = *DTC P0560 will be stored in PCM history *All transmission output devices are off *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0712 = Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Circuit -Low Input (high temperature indicated) = B = *DTC P0712 will be stored in PCM history *Transmission default temperature will be 135ēC (275ēF) *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0713 = Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Circuit -High Input(low temperature indicated) = B = *DTC P0713 will be stored in PCM history *Transmission default temperature will be 135ēC (275ēF) *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0719 = Brake Switch Circuit - Low Input = D = *DTC P0719 will be stored in PCM history

P0724 = Brake Switch Circuit - High Input = D = *DTC P0724 will be stored in PCM history *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0742 = Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) stuck ON = A = *DTC P0742 will be stored in PCM history *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0748 = Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS) Circuit – Electrical = D = *DTC P0748 will be stored in PCM history *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0751 = 1-2 Shift Solenoid – Performance = B = *DTC P0751 will be stored in PCM history

P0753 = 1-2 Shift Solenoid – Electrical = A = *DTC P0753 will be stored in PCM history *Maximum line pressure *If in hot mode, force TCC on in 3rd and 4th gear when brake not applied and downshift not requested *Inhibit downshifts to 2nd when speed is greater than 30 mph *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P0756 = 2-3 Shift Solenoid – Performance = B = *DTC P0756 will be stored in PCM history

P0758 = 2-3 Shift Solenoid – Electrical = A = *DTC P0758 will be stored in PCM history *Third gear only *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated *Maximum line pressure *Inhibit TCC engagement

P1810 = Pressure Switch Assembly (PSA) Circuit Malfunction = B = *DTC P1810 will be stored in PCM history *D2 line pressure *D4 shift pattern *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P1812 = Transmission Fluid Overtemperature = D = *DTC P1812 will be stored in PCM history *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P1860 = TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit – Electrical = A = *DTC P1860 will be stored in PCM history *Inhibit TCC engagement *Inhibit 4th gear if in hot mode *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated

P1864 = TCC Solenoid Circuit – Electrical = A = *DTC P1864 will be stored in PCM history *Inhibit TCC engagement *Inhibit 4th gear if in hot mode *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated *Maximum line pressure

P1870 = Transmission Component Slipping = A = *DTC P1870 will be stored in PCM history *Inhibit TCC engagement *Inhibit 4th gear if in hot mode *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated *Maximum line pressure

P1886 = 3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit – Electrical = A = *DTC P1886 will be stored in PCM history *Soft landing into 3rd gear *Inhibit TCC engagement *Freeze 1-2 shift adapts from being updated *Maximum line pressure *TCC engaged in 4th

* DTC types

“A” Emission related, will turn on the MIL after first failure
“B” Emission related, will turn on the MIL after two consecutive trips with failure
“C” Non-emissions related, will turn on the MIL on first failure
“D” Non-emissions related, no lamp

Thanks for the endorsement, but I don't think this will help enough people to take up room at the top. I just wanted people to see what happens when a tranny code is set. A lot of these default actions would lead one to believe that the tranny is shot, when it fact the tranny is merely doing what it is suppose to do, under certain circumstances. Some transmission shops will prey on people who believe these conditions indicate that a tranny is bad.
