WIP: Skoda 130RS Monte Carlo 1977
Time for another resin one (I have become an adict )
Here are the parts, lot of them for resin kit. OK first things first, I learnd my leson with Fabia and now I am takeing it slowly with painting. Body is not good, very thin and full of holes and cast marks. Rear fender was broken but I fixed it with no problem. All of the trims are very thin and were closely connected with cast garbage so I have trimed it a bit wider to make no mistakes.Problem was with rear window, because there was no trim on the bottom part at all. So I grabed putty and begin eith painfull job. I made 4 passes with putty to get here and will need at least three more to get it right (so you can calculate how much time is that just for one trim). I filled few holes (they are always on all the wrong places) and sanded everything down. ths one is with two putty layers this one affter fourth layer sanded.....still not good Front end few air bubbles Puttyed Sanded.....also not good enough The worse part of the kit are wheels for sure. They have wrong spokes, ful of cast residue and imposible to clean as good as they should be cleaned. This one will require lot of work that is not so visiable so the progress will go slower. Eww. Do these people not have any pride in the product hey put out there? Especially at the prices I have seen for resin kits.

Sasa, you are a sadist! That's the only explanation I can come up with for the fact you put yourself through so much pain!!! The Fabia was a bad enough cast but this seemed almost unrecoverable. But in saying all that, I'll watch this post with delight as I know you'll come good and produce a stonker!! Good luck in your quest......

Re: WIP: Skoda 130RS Monte Carlo 1977
I don't blame Reji for this, they are small hand made factory with no resources like MFH or S27 and I am sure they give their best to make one of a kind modell. Sure the price could be lower because there is bigger difference between this kit for 100€ and MFH Ferrari TS250 (I have it also ) for 200€
If you ask me if Reji's kit is 100€ MFH's should be 400€ at least (well maybe it would be better vice versa to have Reji for 50€). All in all it is new chalenge and I like chalanges, no matter what and if you like this car there is no alternative |

It's great that there is a company such as Reji providing these kits and even better that a builder such as yourself makes such a good job of them. I will be watching this thread just as I did with the Fabia

Can't even say how shocked I am you are attempting a second skoda resin kit, and so soon. Thought you might have given it a break and built a simple kit.. Still once you get to a certain skill level, I guess it's hard to build simple kits.. Such as yourself.. You are going to stun yet more AF fourm readers, I'm sure of it..

Wow, another interesting subject, I had no idea they made a 103RS. What other old school rally models is Reji hiding from us in the US!
Good luck, looks like this could be a challenge though!!

Re: WIP: Skoda 130RS Monte Carlo 1977
This is 5 days work, cutting, puttying, sanding, puttying, sanding
Here are parts, marked for cutting anfd cutted out. adn puttyed This is how the rear window trim looks like now. and front and rear sanded, still few sink marks that need to be leveled with putty. and the wheels once again, I decided to try and make one, paint it and see how will it look before I order some replacement wheels. |

Man, that kit is making you work hard! After the fantastic job you did on the Fabia I know you have the skills and tenacity to make it look better than a Reji kit should. Thanks for sharing your torture, I mean progress.
I'm not really familiar with this car, it will certainly be something unique when you finish. |

Re: WIP: Skoda 130RS Monte Carlo 1977
Thanks guys, Phil you just reminded me that there could be a lot of poeple that doesn't know this car but it had a big potential in <1300 ccm. The car I am building won the 1977 Monte Carlo in it's group (second was also Skoda) with overall 12th and 15th place (just for a record Stratos won the overall race with cars like Seat 124, Porsche 911, Fiat 131, Alpine A110 in front of Skoda.
198 cars have started the race ???? 47 did finish, so the resoult is more then good |

Re: WIP: Skoda 130RS Monte Carlo 1977
uh oh! sasa's at it again
IMO you work so fast! How do you do it!!? In the time it takes me to put down the instruction sheet, you've put down two mist coats, 3 wet coats and four sheets of CF decals I can see I'm going to learn a lot of new stuff from this thread - can't wait !

Re: WIP: Skoda 130RS Monte Carlo 1977
I had a busy weekend, primed the body, reputty it sanded and repeated that for at least five times
Chasis is just primed and painted. Wheels are painted and still not looking good but there is no alternative. Paint went on with no problem, I applyed two mist coats and one heavy one but it looks to me it should get at least one more heavy coat. And one with wheels on chassis and body on chassis. Looking at it like this, wheels doesn't look that bad at all. |
