WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

This is my first post here in the motorsports forum. This idea came to me a couple weeks ago. I had this 99 Mustang Cobra body sitting around from the kit bash for my 69 mach 1. I was reading my latest Hot Rod magazine, and saw a 69 Camaro Pro Mod. well this is when it hit me. I've got the body in primer, filled the cowl panel and i am working on the rear wing and supports at the moment. I've only got a picture of the body mocked up on wheels and tires. Give me your input. As for the Title, BHP stands for Butler High Performance. I'm going to see about having someone print up some sort of BHP decal for the car somewhere. anyone got any ideas of someone to contact? BHP is an entity that i created in my head, i've always been interested in High Performance vehicles, and if i were to have my own high performance shop that is what i would call it. As for the engine and drive train. I have kits on the way that i won from ebay...if the guy has sent them yet, it has been 10 days and still no word.

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

a little more. im working on the hood. as you can see im making a "deflector" for the blower. i used strips of .020 styrene to make a skeleton and i'll fill in between with putty, so i make sure i get the look and shape im looking for. as for the body, i got paint on it. but i forgot I need cut outs for the headers. i'll have to take care of that later and lay some more paint. enjoy

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

Looks good so far. Cool project. Might I suggest trying to use styrene sheet instead of putty for the hood?

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

Hey, my styrene skills were shady at first. The best thing to do is by a cheap kit and just start building with styrene. Its good practice. Just a tip for the next build. Cant wait to see more.

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

i dont know if she spends much time in the motorsports forum. i've got a list of builds lined up!!! i've got 3 Dale Sr. wrangler cars on teh way. i've got some progress for you guys. the body shop took the day off and i've had the chassis shop workin over time, gave the engine guys a little project too.

chassis. i spent a lot of time fitting the wheel wells. got started on the rear end housing. The rear end will be SOLIDLY mounted to the roll cage. much like a funny car. I also got the trans/drive shaft tunner marked off. i've been searching for some pro mod chassis pics. need to know what the base looks like. imight just have to wing it. the base will be attached to the bottom of the interior plate shown. and then the cage will be attached to teh top. so that it is sandwiched between the two parts

this is the driver side header. I decided i didn't want zoomies. so i wouldn't have to cut holes in the side of my nice painted body. so i opted for some shorties. they are constructed out of solid wire solder. probably about 1/16 inch diamter. maybe slightly larger, and they terminate into a peice of 1/4 inch aluminum tubing. the primaries were then sanded to make it appear that they flowed smoothly into the collector. next is to pull them off of the block and make a flange, and then duplicate for the other side. let me know if you think that they are too large. the primaries are the same size, as the zoomies that came in the funny car kit, so i think they are relatively in scale.

comments and criticism very welcome at this point. and if anyone has any pics of pro mod chassis' please e-mail them to me at r_d_butler@sbcglobal.net thank you
