'94 5.9 distributor replacement
So, I'm doing some PMS on my newly acquired Ram, and stop to look at the distributor... way back there tucked inside the firewall! Before I proceed, anybody have any suggestions on how to make the R&R easier? I just need to replace the rotor/cap.
Thanks. |

What I need is to simply remove and replace the distributor cap and rotor. Being tucked back behind the engine and under the firewall cowling, it looks like there may be some tricks to make removing the cap and rotor easier. Anyone have suggestions? Terry |

That's what I thought at first too, when I saw where it was. The truth is, that's where it is and that's where it has to be removed. About all you can do is take the air cleaner off to give yourself some room, or pull the motor. I can't think of anything else...

easiest way to do this is pay a tech such as myself to do this crummy job that is how we survive is off these jobs do it yourselfers find difficult {ps i'm not trying to be sarcastic but we do get a bad rap but were not all bad and some of us do know what we are doing}

Good advice. However, I usually find I can save big dollars by doing the grunt labor myself. (Well, at least for the past 40 years or so...) <-grin->
