2001 Camry LE Remote Program
I have 2001 Camry LE, the car originally came with a factory installed keyless entry system. The dealer installed an alarm system so that the factory keyless entry is used to arm and disarm. I purchased two new remotes for it because according to the owners manual, upto 4 can be programmed. I having trouble programming the new remotes. They are same ones with same FCC number on back. Any suggestions?

Re: 2001 Camry LE Remote Program
What do you mean you are having trouble programming the remotes? Do you have a procedure and it doesn't work? or don't you have any idea on how to do it?
Here are some procedures, see if yours is listed in the first post ref or further down. |

Re: 2001 Camry LE Remote Program
I programmed the remotes. I was doing one step wrong, all 4 remotes (2 old and 2 new) are programmed and work fine. Thanks!

Re: 2001 Camry LE Remote Program
Here you go. It takes a while, but keep at it, it does work. Let me know how it turns out.
Toyota keyless remote programming instructions Programming: 1)Driver's door open, all other doors closed, key removed from ignition switch. 2)Insert key into ignition switch, then remove it. 3)Press LOCK and UNLOCK on the vehicle door lock control switch at 1 second intervals 5 times. 4)Close and re-open driver's door. 5)Press LOCK and UNLOCK on the vehicle dorr lock control switch at 1 second intervals 5 times. 6)Insert key into ignition switch. 7)Switch ignition ON and OFF twice to program a remote transmitter code whilst erasing the original codes. Three times to check how many remote transmitters are currently registered or five times to erase all registered codes. 8)Remove key from ignition switch: a)System should now lock unlock vehicle. Once , twice or five times depending which mode has been selected. One to four times, slowly to indicate number of remote transmitters registered. 9)Press and hold remote transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, together. 10)Press LOCK remote button for 1 second: a)System should now lock and unlock vehicle once to confirm, twice to indicate registration has failed. 11)If required repeat button procedure to program remaining remote transmitters. NOTE: To exit programming mode: Close driver's door or insert ignition key. NOTE: A maximum of 4 remote transmitters can be programmed. |

Re: 2001 Camry LE Remote Program
I haven't been able to get back to post the instructions I found a couple of days ago. To start, all of the doors but the drivers door need to be locked. Step 9 needs to be done twice. I found this at http://www.cartrackers.com/Forums/live/Toyota/79.html and it did work for me. Thanks for replying, though. I noticed in step 10a my locks cycled twice but everything worked out fine (who knows, maybe step 9 should only be done once). None the less, both of my remotes work now so I'm happy.
