Question Is it possible to clean my injectors?

I have a 88 Jeep Wagoneer 4L with 260K. Started smelling gas, found injectors soaked, changed o-rings. Injectors still leaking. Don't have alot of money to put into NEW injectors. Has anyone been able to clean the old ones? This is the first (of 4 Jeeps) that I've owned that had fuel injection, so I'm lost. Someone please help.

you can clean them, I changed my o-rings on m 1993, when I remved the injectors I sprayed them with injector cleaner than put new o-rings on them. I am not sure if it will help with your leak problem though? You may want to try the junk yard, find one the you pull the parts off your self! You can get them for a few bucks that way! Good Luck

The injectors might be leaking elsewhere besides the O-Rings. Best that you get it fixed ASAP as leaky injectors are the main cause of very crispy jeeps! (FIRE!)

Five-O motorsports sells a set of 6 #19 rather cheaply.

Re: Is it possible to clean my injectors?

DITTO!! Yeah, do that ASAP. Those 19# injectors will improve your mileage and performance too.

another option is to buy a set of take outs off e-Bay. You can get the same 19# injectors, they come out of ford mustangs who have upgraded to bigger injectors. They go cheap.

Re: Is it possible to clean my injectors?

Thanks, guys. At least you've given me somewhere to start. I went to the website "Five-O Motorsports" and was surprized by their low prices. But I think I will try looking at the "take-outs" (per IdahoJeeper) first. Thanks again. Have a great Jeep day.

Re: Is it possible to clean my injectors?

Got injectors ordered. Guess I won't have to carry the marshmellos for much longer. Five-O Motorsports did have the best prices for Bosch, but I was able to find slightly used ones on E-bay for 1/5 the price. I'll let you know how things turn out. If you see a big glow down Fla way, I didn't make it. Thanx.

What about the 00' XJ, does running the #19 injectors help this model 4.0 at all.
