I am giving up car audio

it is too expensive of a hobby, i've sold my recently bought eclipse cd8443, my fosgate 4ch, my alpine sub and amp, and i bought a clarion dxz745mp to replace the eclipse, but i kept the cdt's, being that i got them for $150 shipped it was a great deal and its hard to find components that are as good or better, so im keeping them, anyways

the clarion doesn't have a high pass filter, and i dont need one now, since i have not subwoofer.. im going to finish the car off with a nice pair of 6x9's, mostly to fill in some bass, and i was hoping u guys can recommend me a good pair

they'll be running off head unit power but there is no high pass filter, i need them to be able to handle alot of volume, something that won't blow at the first sight of bass, i have around $100 for the pair, any recommendations?

also after i sold my stuff and bought tha clarion i have about $600 left, which is great, that can be put to other use now =D

o yea.. and no pioneers, i have bad experience with pioneer speakers heh thx alot

6x9's and good bass, not a chance. You could get fairly good sound from them, but it will require a cross over, block the 80 hz and below frequencies. I like the sound of the Infinity, but the price might sticker shock you. About $125-$150 pair, after that they are all the same.

Re: I am giving up car audio

thx stang, n yea manny i've been using pioneer for too long, i dont like the treble sound now (ater 3-4 pairs of pioneers) the bass is ok, and the price is great but i'd liek to try something different

n tahoe why don't you think 6x9's can make good bass? sure its not as impressive as a decent subwoofer but using only what.. like 10-20rms from the head unit it makes alot of bass for the power it gets, some stock car speakers make alot of bass because of the lack of a subwoofer

also stang, have u ever heard eclipse speakers?

n anymore suggestions? thx

Re: I am giving up car audio

I had some Alpine Type S 6x9's for awhile in my truck, and they put out good bass for what they were...I was very impressed with them. Hell, they sounded better than one of the guys I know subs...(course the subs are Xplod, and they don't bump at all....lol...and i mean you see them move, you hear something, but you can't feel any bass)...

oh and when that amp blew, it took one of the 6x9's with it, it fully compressed (i don't know how else to describe what the speaker did), and then it let out that smoke that once you see, you know its screwed. I can sell you the other one if you like though!
