Lightbulb SS Grill Installation tips - '03 Yukon - photos

Greetings,

I spent a couple hours installing a stainless steel grill on my 2003 Yukon today. Wanted to let you know how it went etc. First off, this is one of the PRECISION GRILLS, the one that you have to cut out the existing grill thing, NOT the overlay kind. It is actually their CLASSIC BILLET model. Installing these things are pretty straightforward but not for the mechanically challenged. It helps to have air tools to cut and shape etc.

The enclosed instructions leave alot to be desired, they are not too clear. However, I have installed a couple other grills in different vehicles when I owned my body shop so I already had a grasp on the install.

I would recommend that before installing the grill, you soften all sharp edges on the BACK of the SS grill so you don;t scratch up the grill surround when doing the install.

Also, I didn;t trim the bottom lip as instructed, I left it sticking out [back]. I did trim the top and sides of the black plastic, then in 7 inches each side on the bottom to provide clearance for the mounting brackets.

The nuts included in the packet were not correct, well, at least 2 were correct but 2 were not. Figuring that part out ate up 20 mins, then going to the hardware store to get the correct 10-24 nylock nuts ate up another 45 mins. So much for the 2 hour installation they claim it takes. I put loctite on the studs, used nylock nuts and trimmed the studs after installation was complete.

Here are some photos of the finished install. I like it.
